That night Kuroko Tetsuya dreamed about playing with a group of people he's not familiar with. It's not his Teiko teammates who are smiling and hugging him, but the pats and friendly gestures exchanged show that they're close. He was with a new team and they won the Winter Cup. It was one of those rare dreams where you realize that it's not real but still wants to continue it because it's really sweet and it makes you happy.
"Tetsuya?" His mom gently knocked on his door. "Wake up now or you'll be late."
He groaned to himself. As much as he wanted to stay in bed and return to his dream, he cannot. With a soft "Yes Oka-san" he headed to his bathroom and prepared for school.
There must be something wrong inside his head. Every time he looked at something red, not like Akashi-kun's red he noted, he felt something inside him is missing. And then his fingers starts shaking, as if telling him that everything's out of place.
"I need to change my toothbrush." He said, concluding that he just doesn't like the color.
When he looked at his reflection while brushing his teeth, his brain seems too fuzzy that it suddenly portrays an image of him with someone taller while commenting how ridiculous his bedhead looks like. "Midorima-kun's there too."
On his way downstairs, he read the quotes inside the picture frame saying "Don't quit" and he felt his stomach ache. He wanted to throw up even though he hasn't eaten his breakfast yet.
He remembered the look on Seirin's number ten's face. That sad smile. The way he said his name like he'd been saying it for years. And those words, "all wishes has its price to pay Kuroko… and this time it was my basketball." He won't quit right? He may be injured, but he can still heal right? "Wishes has its price" and with that thought in mind, Kuroko run towards his bathroom to throw up.
On his way home, Kuroko decided to go to Maji's instead of going with the rest of GoM to their usual convenience store to get some ice pop. "I want to drink Vanilla Milkshake." He said to them, it's not even an excuse because for weeks now, he'd been craving for it.
"Alright! But I don't think I can go with you Kurokocchi." Kise said. "I need to retake my exams tomorrow so I need to go home and study."
"Me too Tetsu. Maybe next time?" Aomine added. "Satsuki's going out with her friends too."
"It's okay Aomine-kun, Kise-kun." Kuroko bowed politely and headed to his way.
He'd been there for fifteen whole minutes when the redhead, Seirin's Kagami Taiga, entered the fast food restaurant. The boy is wearing his sweat pants which must have covered his leg supporters but the tiny limp of his every step indicate that he's injured.
Instead of feeling sick, Kuroko felt his lips twitch up into a smile. At the back of his mind, he's waiting for the boy to approach his table and join him.
"Hello." He greeted when Kagami sat in front of him.
Almost flipping his tray with his mountains of burgers with a bit of shout, the taller boy decided to settle in Kuroko's table, though a bit hesitant at first. "Don't do that! And since when…ugh never mind."
"How are you?" He asked. Because he can't help himself but to do that. He doesn't know why and he knew it is a rude thing to say, but he still did.
"Fine." Kagami started unwrapping his burger. "Don't think I can play though."
"Oh." There it is again. The feeling of loneliness, sadness, anger and guilt. The redhead rolled his eyes.
They were silent for a few more minutes before Kuroko remembered how the other boy knows his name. "Uhm, Kagami-kun may I ask how did you know my name?"
"We played against you." Is his only answer. "Well then see yah!"
But I did not really play. He thought. It was about ten minutes since Kagami left when Kuroko remembered about his dream. I am playing with Seirin and we won the Winter Cup against Akashi-kun. He said to himself, dreadfully and guiltily. You were in a different kind of Zone Kagami-kun and your jump is so high. So high it looks like you're flying.
Kuroko almost threw up thinking about Kagami's injury and feeling that he was the reason behind it.
It's sad to think that other people have been rude since I haven't updated this story. I'm sorry for that. Anyways, some even commented and messaged me indicating how pissed of they were because I haven't been alive in this site for months. Those comments and messages won't do the trick with my writer's block. Just saying so.
But yeah, here I am again. I hope that I can finally write without any problems.
