Razer looked at the structure and was embarrassed that the thought of ' what would Hal do?' came into his mind. He humored himself for a moment imagine Hal would explain the rules of some earth game that he and Kilowog would pretend they understood. Razer found the ideal spot to begin taking away the stones. Typically a red lantern would only be capable of blowing apart these hunks of rocks but his prolonged interaction with the Green Lanterns had begun to give him the, patience, for constructs. It was still an uneven and haphazard process for him but he focused his might in pulling out the stones carefully and one by one. The cavern didn't seem too fond several of the sky like gems in the ceiling fell to meet him.
He extended his hand to the child, "it's alright." The child was curled around some small object that it kept curled into its' fingers. The child looked to Razer with a frightened expression, "A Red Lantern?" The child had green skin with large blue eyes that lacked pupils, it was easy to see now that the child was a young girl her white hair framed her face and was tied back in a long braid. She wore a gray dress without much of a shape or form to it.
Razer looked at her frightened expression and almost sneered at it's familiarity. "Do not worry I have no interest in harming you," he reached for the girl who pulled her treasure closer to her but did not shy away from him. He pulled her close and began treading back through the narrow corridor. This would be much faster if he had enough space to fly. He looked down to the child she was light in his arms and he could feel whatever sustained her beating against him.
Not halfway through the cavern quaked, "just great."
Back on the surface Hal was standing alone watching the crack below his feet when he felt the ground shudder. His stomach lurched as he thought of his friend. He cast a green light around himself and prepared to dive down the small opening to reach Razer but the ground erupted below him in a red light. There was Razer clutching a small child in his arms. Hal was about to congratulate him when he saw the red flickering about his body, his teeth locked in a scowl, and his eyes black as night red lights floating in them focused. The little girl squirmed from his grasp and ran behind Hal.
"Razer," Hal leaned forward and snapped, "Razer!" Razer turned to Hal and for a moment he was worried he would have to fight. Luckily the red flame like energy began to fade away. "Razer what was that?"
Razer looked dazed for a moment, "I had to," he paused trying to regain his thoughts, "protect her." Razer looked down to the little girl who let out a light whimper. He rubbed his forehead, "I am sorry little one." This had happened a time or two before; Razer had always thought it was just a part of being a Red Lantern.
Writer's Note: I had no intention of continuing this but with every review being a demand to finish it I thought I would try to do so. I hope I don't disappoint.
