Chapter 26

Leo

I burned with anger. Oh, and when I say burn? It's literal. My hands caught on fire. Luckily, the new fireproof jacket that Calypso had made me blocked most of the flames. Jason noticed my flaming hands and nudged me. I looked down and finally realized why my hands felt warm.

I took a deep breath and managed to shut the fire off. Unfortunately, more things happened. Malfoy started shouting insults at Harry. He was clearly very angry at the Gryffindors for winning the game, but it just fueled his words even more.

"So you saved Weasley's neck, haven't you? Without you, he could've missed all of the Quaffles thrown at him! I don't know why any team would ever choose him. But then all of the Gryffindors are idiots, aren't they?"

It was almost a good thing Ron had already went back to the changing room with his head down, because at least now he couldn't hear what Malfoy was saying. Before Harry could respond, the rest of his team came down and attacked him with tight hugs. Malfoy kept taunting Harry.

"How'd you like my lyrics, Potter?" he yelled. "I didn't have time to write more about hima! I couldn't do any rhymes for 'ugly and fat', see, for his mother. We couldn't fit in 'useless loser' either. You know, for his dad."

The other Weasleys, Fred and George, finally realized what Draco was talking about. They froze in the middle of shaking Harry's hands.

"But of course, the Weasleys are your friends too, aren't they?" Malfoy asked, jeering. "You like them. Perhaps it's the smell there. The stink bomb that exploded in their hovel feels like home to you, doesn't it?"

I watched, horrified and impressed, as the other team members struggled to stop the twins from jumping on Malfoy and beating him to pulp. As for me, I don't see the reason Harry would try to help George resist. If it were me, my ADHD would've made me throw flames on Malfoy already.

"Or maybe your mothers stupid mudblood house smells the same to you, Potter! Weasley's stinking pigpen of a house reminds you of your mudblood home?"

At this point, I completely lost it. It looks like most of the other demigods did too, along with Fred, George, and Harry. However, Fred was being contained by Angelina, Katie, and Alicia, so he wasn't able to jump on Malfoy's stupid head.

My hands ignited in anger. Without even a thought at the wizards around me, I thrust it in the direction of Malfoy, who was being attacked by Harry and George at the moment.

Missing Harry's ear by about an inch, it hit Malfoy's hair. I breathed deeply and managed to calm down again. I snapped my fingers, and the flames died. Malfoy's hair, however, started smoking. Percy spun his head to look at me.

"Whoops," I said, still full of hatred at Malfoy.

Percy whipped out his wand. "Aquamenti," he whispered. A stream of water came pouring out of it. He willed the water to squirt itself onto Malfoy's head. However, it also Started twirling his hair around in different directions, messing it up. Wow, with his skills of tangling, some of those knots would never go out. More of the water turned into tiny balls of ice and started poking Malfoy in the nose.

Suddenly, Thalia stood. She was holding her bow. However, the arrow wasn't a regular one. There was a boxer glove at the end instead of a point

Before she shot it, I noticed the chaos in the field. Madam Hooch was just about to say something while pointing her wand at the George, Harry, and Malfoy, but then Thalia released the bow string and let her punching arrow fly. It hit Malfoy square on the stomach and knocked him back at least nine feet, whimpering at the bruises he got from George and Harry.

"What were you thinking?" Madam Hooch screamed at Harry and George. Then she looked up at us, where Thalia and I were still standing furiously. She glared up. "I don't care who you are. Valdez, Thalia, Weasley, Potter, Jackson, Head of House's office! Now!"

Thalia stormed into the field and gave one last death glare to Malfoy, who trembled. She made it clear that Malfoy was never, ever going to do that again.

Percy and I followed her into the castle, and I saw Annabeth not even caring that her boyfriend was in trouble. She was still angry at Malfoy for being such a jerk.

All five of us reached Professor McGonagall's just as she marched down the corridor, face red with anger.

"What was that?" she asked furiously, shaking with rage. "All five of you? What happened that made you think that kind of behavior was acceptable?"

"ADHD," I said. "And the fact that Malfoy is a total and complete-"

"Valdez!" Professor McGonagall shouted. "Enough!"

"Malfoy insulted George's parents," Harry said. "And my mother."

"Well, his team just lost, didn't they?" McGonagall shouted. "Of course he'd want to make you angry! But instead of letting Madam Hooch speak to him, you decided to use muggle fighting? What kind of-"

"Hem, hem."

Instead of turning to look at the door, I just rolled my eyes. Percy sighed. Thalia had started to play with her bow. Harry and George, however, turned to look at the person who had made one of the most obnoxious sounds ever.

"Valdez?" Umbridge asked sweetly from the doorway. "Some students have told me you used wandless magic. Is that true?"

"No," I said, lying smoothly. Most of my friends would've know I was lying as soon as I started speaking, but Umbridge wasn't my friend.

"Professor Umbridge?" McGonagall asked in a tight voice. "These stydets are in my house. Therefore, it should be me giving out punishments, not you."

"Yes, and the last time when you made the Gryffindor team recruit again? Well, I couldn't have the Hogwarts High Inquisitor having less rights than regular teachers! So I went straight to our beloved Minister of Magic, who ordered Educational Decree Number 25."

"Another one?" Percy, Thalia, and I said at the same time.

Umbridge's smile widened. "Yes, of course, another one. Let's see..."

She dug around in her purse until she came out with a scroll. "Educational Degree Number 25, the High Inquisitor will now be even a greater git than she was before, now being able to punish students, which means that now she has greater rights than other teachers. Of course, Fudge is an idiot anyway, so-WHAT IS THIS?"

I restrained myself from laughing. However, I was grinning pretty wildly. Good thing Thalia was concentrated on the mist to make it look like I was gasping in shock.

"I don't know, Professor!" Percy said with pretty obvious sarcasm. Oh wow...it was totally him. And he didn't even tell me! Oh wait, I was with my tool belt and banging on something. I remembered Perct had come in and shouted something to me once. "I would bet someone who doesn't like you did it! Hm, what a great clue! It narrows it down to...everybody. Well, besides the Slytherins, but not many people like them right now either. Maybe some day you guys can change, but for now? You are a stupid, evil toad."

Umbridge stared at him, shocked that anyone would say that to her. I beamed with pride at my best friend, but worried about him as well. Professor McGonagall was looking at him with an amused expression-and shock, of course, but mostly amused. George and Harry were doing a silent cheer and fist pumps behind Umbridge's back, even though they still looked angry from the Quidditch thing.

"Percy Jackson," Umbridge said under her breath. "How dare you say that? You are now-"

But before she could say 'expelled', Percy whipped his wand out. "Forget all you heard in the last minute!" Oh wait, he said it in Ancient Greek.

Umbridge's eyes glazed over. A few seconds later, all of us looked pretty innocent, and she looked a bit confused. "Anyway, Degree Number 25..."

She dug another piece of paper out of her bag and read the contents, sonething about the High Inquisitor now being a bigger git than normal. Well, that's what I heard it as, anyway. The other scroll with all those insults on it had vanished, and my hand was hot. There was a slight smell of burning paper in the room. Huh, I wonder what happened.

Then she turned to me.

"Oh really, no?" she asked, smiling. I blinked. Wha? Oh, right, she was continuing from where we left off. She wasn't wearing a pink shirt today (duh, she didn't have one because we colored them), but her hair had returned to its normal, swampy brown color. Today, she was wearing a green jacket, which just made her look more like a toad. "Well then explain how you threw fire at Mr. Malfoy without using your wand."

"Oh I was using my wand," I said innocently. "But I guess I was just so angry that Crabbe threw a Budger at Harry even after the game ended that I could whip out my wand so fast that nobody could see it!"

Out of the corner of my right eye, I could she Thalia with her eyes shut tight, probably manipulating the mist. Umbridge seemed to by buying my lies, so Thalia's mist thing is probably working.

"All right," Umbridge said, not even thinking about the thing I said about Crabbe. "So what spell did you use?"

"Huh?" I asked, momentarily confused. Then I realized what she was saying. Oh, right...the spell. I pulled my wand out of my pocket. I channeled a small bit of fire into my wand from my hand, letting the flames come out from the tip of the stick.

Umbridge frowned. "Non-verbal magic? How is it that you are able to so that? Do you know the real spell?"

I looked behind her. Since she had strolled over in front of me to be face-to-face, McGonagall was behind her. She scribbled something on a piece of paper-sorry, parchment. She held it up for me to see. I read it quickly. Luckily it was in Latin, so I could read it as well as English. The fire spell, I guess. I looked back at Umbridge and said the spell. Immediately, more flames came out of my wand.

Umbridge's eyes narrowed. "All right, Valdez. But you know it's forbidden to shoot fire at innocent students, so your punishment...ah yes, detention for a week. That is okay for you, isn't it?"

I grinned like a maniac. Oh, I'm okay, all right. We are going to have so much fun. "Yeah, I guess."

"And Jackson, Grace?"

Thalia stiffened at her last name, and Percy snapped his head up from the desk as he was halfway to Dreamland. "Yeah?"

"How did you do that water thing with your wand?"

Percy shrugged. "I don't know. Probably just concentrated...really hard. Plus, I'm really good with water."

Thalia nodded. "All of us have different elements that we are really good at. Mine is supposed to be electricity, which is why I can shock people easily. But I'm also okay at the bow and arrow. Look, can you just get on with the punishments and move on?"

Umbridge glared at her. "Of course, Grace. One week's detention for both of you."

Now, Potter and Weasley..."

Harry and George sat up straighter. I could tell they were still trying not to laugh from when they saw Umbridge insulting herself and Fudge, but they managed to keep it in.

"Well, I really think I will have to ban these two from ever playing Quidditch again."

I heard a small cracking noise of electricity as Thalia clenched her fists. Harry and George's slight smiles disappeared as they stared at her.

"Ban us?" Harry asked hoarsely. "From playing Quidditch...forever?"

"Yes, I think a lifelong ban should be enough."

George groaned. Well, he was taking it pretty well. If it was me, I would be screaming right now.

Well, at least Fred is still on the team, right? Ha! As if fate ever did what I wanted them to do! Well, except for finding Calypso, but that's getting off topic.

"Oh, and I'm thinking this boy's twin should be banned as well. I have the feeling he wanted to attack Mr. Malfoy as well. Also, I must have your brooms in my office for safety reasons."

"The rest of the team has permission to continue. They at least did not show any signs of terrible self-control. Well, now that we've taken care of these five students...good-bye. And I'll see the three of you at my office today, five o'clock."

With that, she left the room, grinning like what I expect Gaea would grin like if she were a toad.

Oh Umbridge, I thought. You are so dead.

Yeah, I know what you're thinking. Or maybe not. The last sentence is practically the same as the previous chapter. But don't worry...I meant to do that.
