So first off, I wanna thank everyone who has reviewed so far, I love every bit of it. Second, I'm still looking for a few baby names, more girl suggestions would be appreciated. Also, I am sorry I didn't update sooner, life was in the way. I am so worried for this Sunday, I do not think I can survive 9o minutes, and then an hour of Norman on the Talking Dead. This is another long, fluffy chapter, but next chapter is probably gonna bring a little bit of conflict into the mix.
I own nothing, but utter fear of what is going to happen this Sunday. Hopefully the writers will be gentle with us, probably not, but one can hope. If they don't kill Nicholas, Pete, and Gabriel soon, I'll do it for them.
Chapter Eleven
The sun was beginning to set over the trees, and Beth had officially given up on not worrying. Judith had been trying to get Beth to play blocks with her for the last ten minutes, but finally gave up and sat down with a huff in front of Beth. Maggie had gone into the kitchen to make them some sandwiches, and was highly amused when she came back out, and Judith was sitting in front of Beth, with her arms crossed pouting. Maggie laughed at the sight, which seemed to snap Beth out of her daze,
"Somebody is not happy with you Bethy."
Beth looked down and saw Judith pouting up at her,
"Oh baby, I'm sorry," she said as she picked the baby up.
Judith brightened up as soon as Beth picked her up, much happier that she now had her attention. "Gotta stop worryin' so much. They'll be back soon. They had a lot to get this time."
"I know, but I still worry," Beth sighed back.
Maggie gave up on trying to get her to stop, if Glenn was with them she'd be doing the same thing.
"How's the mornin' sickness goin'?" Maggie questioned her.
"I think it's gonna subside soon, well I hope it does…oh yeah, I didn't show you earlier," Beth said as she put Judith down. She lifted up her shirt to show Maggie the small swell of her abdomen.
"Oh my god, you have a little bump!" Maggie exclaimed.
"I know! Daryl couldn't tell, but he could feel it when he put his hand on it," Beth replied equally as excited.
"He was in awe of it, but I think it scared him a little too, I was in shock at first."
"Who wouldn't be? But this is great, at least you know it's growin' in there."
"Yup" Beth replied back.
She kept glancing out the window every few seconds, and Maggie was about to go crazy watchin' her.
"Alright, come on. We're going on a walk," Maggie declared as she picked up Judith.
Beth sighed, but followed Maggie out the door. They headed down to the pond, and Judith was immediately trying to get in the water.
"Judy, we ain't swimmin' today, it's too cold," Beth tried to tell her.
Judith did not want to be told that she couldn't play with the water, she was such a little water baby. Giving her a bath was always easy, cause she loved the water so much. Beth hoped her child would love water as much as Judith, otherwise it'd be really funny to watch Daryl try and bathe a cranky baby. Beth was interrupted from her thoughts by the sound of cars, and what sounded like a motorcycle, but she wasn't a hundred percent sure. She was up quickly and headed towards the gates, with Maggie holding Judith hot on her heels.
"Beth slow down! This ain't the Olympics!" Maggie shouted to her, but Beth wasn't slowing down.
When they reached the front, Carl was shutting the gates back, and at the front of the pack was Daryl, sitting on a motorcycle. Beth grinned and took off for him.
As soon as Daryl dismounted the bike, he looked up and saw Beth running towards him, and next thing he knew she was in his arms.
Daryl grunted as Beth collided with his chest,
"Missed you too blondie."
Beth grinned up at him,
"I see you got yourself a little something."
He cracked a small, sheepish smile,
"Couldn't just leave her there…"
"Uh huh. What else did y'all get?"
"Lots of bows and bolts," he teased her.
He didn't wanna give her the answer she wanted. However, Michonne quickly ended Beth's suffering,
"We got everything, and more. We should be set for at least three months. You should look in the bed of the truck, pretty sure everythin' in there is for you."
Daryl shot Michonne a glare, and went to grab Beth before she could start going through everythin'.
He quickly pulled her away before she could even get a glance,
"Nope. You don't get to see anythin' till later."
Beth stared at him curiously,
"But why? I wanna see."
"Cause…it's a surprise…you can see it later tonight…so until I come get you, I need ya ta stay out of the house."
Beth huffed,
"Fine."
He grinned slightly at her before quickly bending down and kissing her cheek.
"You ready?" Abraham called out to him.
"Yeah, just bring the truck round to the front of the house," Daryl yelled back to him.
"See ya later," and with that Daryl was off.
Beth was dying to see what all Daryl had gotten, but she figured she could wait a few hours. At least she knew he was home safe.
Daryl had recruited all the guys to come help him unload everythin' out of the truck and into the house. On the ride back, he decided to surprise Beth by unloading all the baby stuff into the room next to theirs, that she told him she wanted to be the nursery. Daryl wanted to put everything together that they had gotten, so he could give her somethin' to smile about. He still felt like shit for her suffering with the side effects of pregnancy, which led to him, Abraham, Rick, Glenn, Tyreese, and Eugene sitting in the baby's room trying to figure out how to assemble everythin'.
"Who the fuck knew assembling a crib could be this hard?" Daryl grumbled as he tried to screw two pieces together.
"Motherdick!" Abraham shouted as yet another piece of the changing table fell off.
Glenn, Eugene, and Tyreese were laughing their asses off, while Rick just looked at them in understanding. Furniture for babies was probably the most difficult stuff to assemble. They had been working on it for about two hours now, and were almost done with the crib and changing table. Eugene and Glenn had been in charge of sorting through the clothes and separating them by gender, or neutral, while Tyreese sorted all the diapers, bottles, and other things. Rick had been putting away all the diapers, and put all of Beth's stuff in their bedroom.
"What color are y'all gonna paint the room?" Glenn asked Daryl.
Daryl thought about it for a moment,
"I dunno…maybe green or red…"
Glenn nodded at that,
"Green is a good color…nature, peaceful…"
"mhmm" Daryl hummed.
Rick came walking back in the room,
"Truck is now empty. Put the paint and tools out in the shed."
Daryl nodded in thanks. One final screw and he was finally done with the crib,
"damn thing is done" he grunted.
"Same with this shit," Abraham said as he sat the changing table up.
They quickly got the furniture in place, while Eugene put the camo bedding in the crib.
"I think we did a pretty good job," Tyreese spoke up.
They all nodded that they agreed with him,
"Glenn, can you bring Beth back here?" Daryl asked him.
"Yeah, no problem."
"Um…thank y'all…for helping with this…with everythin'."
"We're family. This is what family does for each other," Rick smiled at Daryl.
With that all the guys began to head out, Glenn going to get Beth, with Abraham hangin' back a second,
"Ya good? Ya did good with all this…it was a good idea," he told Daryl.
"Yeah…I'm good for now…hope she likes it."
"She will," Abraham clapped Daryl on the shoulder and headed out.
Daryl took a moment to take in the room, the crib was against one wall, with the changing table next to it. All the clothes were stacked neatly underneath the window, next to it were all the other supplies they had gotten, and in the closet were all the toys, except one. Daryl had hidden the small bow and bolts in the hall closet, to show Beth last. He quickly went in their bedroom to check out Rick's handy work. He had placed all of Beth's new clothes on the bed, arranged so she could see every piece. Daryl had told Rick to just throw his in a pile in the closet, and that he would deal with them later. He figured Beth would be back any minute, so he went downstairs and sat on the couch, trying to look relaxed.
Sure enough, Beth walked in a few minutes later,
"Hey redneck."
He got up and engulfed her in a hug, and kissed her gently,
"Hi blondie…hi bubba," he said as he placed his hand on her stomach.
She smiled at him,
"So can I see everythin' now? Waitin' has been drivin' me crazy."
He chuckled at her, but nodded his head yes.
Daryl grabbed her hand and began to lead her up the stairs, taking her first to their room.
"Eyes shut," he said as he put one of his hands over her eyes, as he opened the bedroom door.
He guided her into the room, and slowly removed his hand, whispering
"Surprise."
When Beth opened her eyes she was in shock, the bed was covered in clothes, and sitting right in the middle was a stuffed horse. Daryl had gotten her so many clothes, and none of them were bad looking either. Beth was smart enough to know Daryl had help, but it's the thought that counts. However, she knew the stuffed horse was all him. She turned around and wrapped her arms around his neck,
"Guess I did a good job?" he asked her.
She shook her head,
"Yes. And I'll be sure to thank Michonne, Rosita, and Sasha too."
He groaned at that,
"It's okay. I'm glad you let them help, plus it's the thought that counts."
She let go of him and walked over to the bed, picking up the stuffed horse,
"Plus I know he was all your idea."
Daryl blushed a little at that, but nodded his head.
"Budweiser," she said.
He looked a little confused for a moment, before replying,
"You're namin' the horse Budweiser…cause of the commercial?"
She nodded happily while smiling, which made Daryl smile too. Beth was kinda crazy, but she was his kinda crazy.
"I ain't done yet, come on," he motioned for her to follow him into the hallway.
Once she was in the hallway, Daryl put another hand in front of Beth's eyes, guiding her towards the room next to theirs.
"Daryl Dixon, where are we going now?"
"You'll see, just keep your eyes closed till I tell ya to open em'" he told her.
Beth complied with his request and kept her eyes closed as he guided her through a door. Daryl softly closed the door, and leaned back against it.
He moved his hand away from Beth's eyes,
"Alright Miss impatient, you can open em'."
Beth was floored by the sight in front of her when she opened her eyes, Daryl had basically put together an entire nursery in a matter of hours. Her mouth was hanging slightly open, he had gotten a beautiful dark crib and changing table, mounds and mounds of clothes, all the other supplies she had asked for, and the closet was filled with stuffed animals and toys. Beth could feel the tears falling down her cheeks, Daryl had done all this for her. She knew he had to have had help from the guys putting it all together so quick, but she couldn't careless.
"It's perfect," she choked out.
Daryl moved from his place leaning against the door, and hugged Beth from behind,
"So ya like it?"
Beth turned around,
"Daryl, I love it. Ya did amazing."
He smiled softly at her,
"Ya like the bedding?"
Beth quickly went to the crib and realized the bedding was camo, she began to chuckle,
"Of course, camo."
He laughed a little,
"Got some with Georgia bulldog stuff on it, and one with motorcycles too."
All Beth could do was shake her head and laugh,
"Um…we found some paint too…if ya want me to paint the walls or something…" he trailed off.
Beth thought about it for a moment,
"Could ya paint the woods? Like a different part of the woods on each wall? I want them to feel close to nature, like their daddy is," she smiled at him.
There was no way in hell Daryl could say no that face, and not when she was sayin' somethin' so sweet to him.
He simply nodded yes to her, hell, he'd paint her Starry Night, if it'd keep that smile on her face always.
"I got one more surprise for ya Blondie, stay here while I get it, but close your eyes again."
Beth did as she was told, excited to see what his final surprise could possibly be. Daryl had gone above and beyond her expectations, and she couldn't be happier.
Daryl quickly grabbed the small bow, bolts, and quiver out of the closet and walked back into the nursery.
"Alright…you can open em'."
Beth was once again shocked by the sight in front of her, Daryl was holding a small bow, with little bolts, and a small quiver. Beth couldn't help the tears that over took her then, damn these hormones she thought.
"Why are you cryin'? Did I do somethin' wrong ?" Daryl asked worriedly.
"No, no. It's just so sweet, you're already gettin' excited about teaching bubba how to hunt. Plus these damn hormones are getting to me."
He put the bow on the floor, and quickly pulled Beth into his chest,
"I'm glad ya like everythin'."
"Daryl ya just made the next couple of months a lot easier, and got rid of a lot of my stress. You did an amazin' job," she said with that big, bright smile of hers.
He just held her tighter, and enjoyed their little solace. Daryl knew reality would probably come crashing back down soon, but he wanted Beth to enjoy this little bit of happiness for now. He would protect her and their child at all cost. Daryl was still scared as hell about this baby, but he was slowly starting to get better. He was just gonna have to take things one day at a time, and hope that each day would end with Beth wrapped up in his arms.
I hope y'all liked it. Beth's new stuffed horse is actually inspired by the one my boyfriend got me two years ago for my birthday, I kept begging for a horse after seeing the Budweiser commercial, he couldn't get me real one, so he got me a stuffed one, and I named him Budweiser. Please leave me some more baby name suggestions, I pretty much have one picked if it's a boy, but I still need one for if it's a girl. I hope to have the next chapter up soon, until then, let's all pray for a safe Sunday night for our group.
