Felt in the Christmas spirit so I wrote this. Just a short, cheesy one-shot. Hope you guys like it.
MISTLETOE
Nico sat in a dark corner and drank his punch. Chiron had decided to throw a camp Christmas party and had insisted that everybody participate, much to the annoyance of Nico.
Nico quickly looked around the room. Chiron was occupied with the Stoll twins and Mr. D could care less what was going on and who was there or not. Nico got up and poured his remaining punch into a forgotten plant. He quickly walked toward the doorway to escape...and ran right into someone.
"Uugh," the someone grunted. "Watch where you're going."
"Sorry, Thalia," Nico apologized, realizing who it was.
"Oh. Hey, Death Breath. How have you been?" Thalia asked, leaning up against the door frame.
"Just great. Always great to go to party you didn't want to go to in the first place," Nico grumbled.
"Chiron forced you to come, too?" Thalia asked sympathetically.
"Yep."
"Let's get out of here."
Nico gratefully followed her out the door onto the Big House wrap around porch.
"Lot less crowded out here. You'd think that being a child of Zeus I'd be good with crowds, but nothing is farther from the truth," Thalia said, leaning up against the railing and looking down at the camp.
"I always thought you did well around people," Nico put in.
"I'm a natural born leader. Doesn't make me good with people. Most people. I can do just fine around a few."
"Hm," Nico mumbled, thinking.
"Anyway," Thalia said, pushing away from the railing. "I should probably get back to my cabin."
"Yeah, me too," Nico agreed. He started to walk off the porch...and bumped into Thalia again.
"Sorry," he said anxiously. He quickly grabbed her and pulled her into him before she could fall off the porch steps. He quickly realized how close she was to him and his heart sped up. He really wanted to lean down and kiss her.
"Look, mistletoe," Thalia whispered, looking past Nico's head.
He glanced up and looked at the mistletoe hanging from the rafters right above his head. He looked back down at Thalia. She looked up at him with a mischievous glint in her eyes.
"You going to just stand there all night?" Thalia asked suggestively.
"Not just stand," Nico answered, leaning down. Thalia laughed as his lips met hers.
"About time!"
Nico and Thalia jumped apart. He quickly had to grab her again before she could fall down the stairs. Percy and Annabeth walked out of the shadow they had been standing in.
"We've been waiting for you to finally kiss her, Nico," Annabeth giggled. She walked over to Thalia and gave her a high five.
"Thanks for the mistletoe, Annabeth," Thalia said. Nico took a step back.
"Wait. You had this whole thing planned?"
"Of course," Percy said matter of factly. "How else were we going to get you to kiss her? I know you've been wanting to for ages and I didn't think it was that hard to see that she wanted you to, too."
"You wanted me to kiss you?" Nico asked incredulously.
"Of course," Thalia said exasperatedly. "I thought that was pretty obvious."
"Wha?" Nico just looked at Thalia with a dazed look on his face. "You wanted me to..." Nico took a step back...and less than gracefully fell down the stairs.
Thalia went dashing down the stairs after Nico. She knelt down next to him as he picked his head up out of the snow.
"Of course I wanted you to, Nico," she whispered to him. "Why wouldn't I? I love you."
She slowly pulled him by the collar of his shirt and kissed him as he lay there in the snow.
