SWORDS

Thalia stood and faced the small group of first year campers.

"Alright. I see you all made it here alive. That's good. Now. In order to stay alive, you're going to need to learn how to defend yourself," Thalia called out.

She quickly grabbed a Celestial bronze sword off the table beside her and cleanly dispatched one of the dummies nearby.

"That's what you will be learning. How to defend yourself," Thalia said. "But first, the basics. How to hold your sword."

She moved closer to the first year campers to show them how to hold a sword.

"That isn't how you hold a sword," a voice rang through the arena.

Thalia and the rest of the campers looked over to see nico leaning lazily against a wall. Thalia frowned at him.

"Yes it is," Thalia retorted.

"No it's not," Nico shot back.

"Yes," Thalia snapped.

"You're a spearman, not a swordsman," Nico pointed out, getting up off the wall and walking toward Thalia. The first year campers parted to let him through.

"Maybe, but I've been around. I know how to hold a sword."

"No you don't. You're grip is all wrong. That sword can go flying out of your hand in a second. You're also forgetting that I can train with the best swordsmen that have walked this earth. Besides, I'm older."

"True," Thalia conceded. "But I wasn't frozen as long, so, technically, I'm still older."

"I'm eighteen."

"Are we counting my time as a Hunter?" Thalia said, grinning.

"No. You didn't age."

"Ah." Thalia said superioritally, "But I was still learning things. You're just afraid that I'm older."

"No-" Nico started.

"Gods!" one of the assembled campers yelled. "Just kiss her already!"

Both Nico and Thalia looked over at the campers in surprise. They quickly looked back at each other. Both of them moved at the same time. Nico's hand found her hips and pulled her closer to him and Thalia's hand found his hair as their lips met.

The group of campers snickered, then moved off to enjoy their now free sword fighting class.
