Chapter 9
"We're doomed," Michelle said for the fifth time as they walked towards the war room.
"We are not," Annabeth said.
"Yes we are," Percy agreed with Michelle.
"No, we're not," Nico backed up Annabeth.
"We can take em," Clarisse said.
"Yep," Thalia said. They all moaned as they reached the giant gold doors of the war room. "All agreed to run if thing go haywire?" Thalia asked.
"Aye," everyone chorused, even Clarisse, which was a bit surprising. Michelle fingered her clip and spotted Clarisse checking her electrified staff (her THIRD one mind you). Annabeth fingered her dagger and Percy was fiddling with Riptide. Thalia's hair was sparking occasionally and Nico…well let's just say that the word 'dark' described him very well at the moment. Annabeth stepped forwards and tapped on the doors and they almost immediately swung open. All of the demigods looked at each other nervously, minus Clarisse who looked ready to beat someone up. They all slowly walked in and took in the sight. Odin was standing at the head of a giant gold table with Thor sitting at his right hand. Tyr was at his left side. Various other officers, the Warriors Three, and Sif were also there. Everyone turned to look at the demigods. Subconsciously, Michelle grabbed Nico's hand for reassurance. The son of Hades looked down in some surprise, but let her do it. Odin gestured for them to take a seat and they did so slowly. Once they were. Odin waved his hand again and the guards departed. Once they were gone, Odin slammed his hand down on the table, causing everyone to jump.
"LIARS!" he shouted at them. Michelle's grip on Nico's hand tightened even more. Annabeth maintained her calm.
"About what your majesty?" she asked coolly, treating him to her piercing stare.
"Everything," Thor growled. He stood and pointed accusingly at her. "You, daughter of Athena, are a liar, a thief, and a trickster!"
"Hey!" Percy shouted, now standing. "Watch your tongue buddy!" He glared at Thor.
"Watch YOUR tongue son of Poseidon!" Odin snapped. "You all have tricked us, deceived us, and you cannot expect us to spare you!" Michelle's eyes rolled slightly back in her head, but everyone was so worried about the scene in front of them that they didn't notice.
"It was to make peace nitwit!" Thalia snapped, losing her patience. "Quite honestly it was a good gesture on our part considering what YOU did to US!"
"We did nothing to you!" Fandral cried.
"TELL THAT TO MY FATHER!" Clarisse shouted, pulling out her staff furiously. "YOU BETRAYED HIM IN THE WAR!"
"That war is nothing to what will come," Michelle suddenly hissed in a voice that was not hers. Everyone turned and saw her slowly stand up. She surveyed everyone coldly and scoffed. "You petty Asgardians and godlings. You lose sight of the end game." She looked down at herself and scoffed. "This specimen is terrible. She is weak and pathetic, but she was easy to control."
"Eidolon?" Percy hissed at Annabeth. Michelle's head turned towards him.
"I am not one of your pathetic Greek spirits," she snarled. "I am much more."
"What are you then?" Sif asked, crossing her arms angrily.
"I am a mere messenger," laughed the thing that was possessing Michelle.
"A messenger from who?!" shouted Clarisse.
"My mistresses wish revenge for what happened to them millennia ago." Michelle's gaze traveled to everyone in the room. "Vár and Eris wish the wrongdoings done to them to be avenged. Surrender the son of Hades and the Odinson to them by midday in four days else you will face their wrath." Michelle collapsed to the floor. Unfortunately, everyone was too shocked by what had happened to catch her. This turned out to be a good thing as the pain woke her up. She sat up and rubbed her head.
"Ouch," she moaned. "What happened? Another one of my head attacks?" No one answered. She looked around. "Someone PLEASE answer me!" Everyone finally looked down at her.
"You were possessed by a land spirit," Odin said.
"What?"
"An animating spirit of the land. They can curse or bless as they choose. I am afraid that we have a large problem."
"No kidding," snapped Nico.
"Well," Thalia said. "Because you don't want us liars and tricksters in your midst, we'll just head back to Olympus and mind our own business." She turned and started marching towards the door. The demigods all looked at each other before Nico helped up Michelle and they followed after Thalia. Michelle needed some support after her whole possessing ordeal. The demigods exited the room and headed to their quarters. After explaining to the other three and packing, all of the demigods started to head towards the Bifrost. Michelle quickly regained her strength and was soon walking without help. As they neared the observatory at the end of the Bifrost, they heard hoof beats behind them. They all turned their heads and saw Sif galloping towards them.
"Wait!" she called. Clarisse rolled her eyes and kept walking, but the others stopped and turned to face her.
"Yes?" Thalia asked, rather coldly.
"If this is true," Sif said. "And if Var and Eris ARE coming after us, we might your help." Michelle snorted.
"You do?" Sif's eyes narrowed slightly.
"Yes, we do. Especially as we are letting Loki free and need everyone that we can get to help us contain him."
"So we're a prison guard," Clarisse called from where she was about twenty feet away. Sif looked slightly embarrassed.
"Guarding a prisoner is beneath a praetor of Rome," Reyna said. "I should be in the war room." Piper grasped the Roman's arm and whispered in her ear. Reyna's black eyes (her eyes are black right?) narrowed a fraction but she nodded and Piper released her. Michelle grunted and crossed her arms. Percy and Jason looked at each other before looking at Annabeth. The daughter of Athena rubbed her forehead before sighing.
"I need a break," she moaned to herself. "Fine. We'll help you deal with Eris and Var. Whoever Var is."
"Who's Eris?" retorted Sif.
"Goddess of strife, discord, chaos, and all that," Percy said in an off-hand tone. "Now who's Var?"
"Var is the goddess of oaths and agreements," Sif said. "I don't know why she would be attacking us like this though."
"Oh, I have absolutely NO idea," Michelle said sarcastically. "You guys NEVER break your oaths or ANYTHING." Sif glared at her.
"Michelle," Nico warned, putting a hand on her arm. "Calm down." Michelle growled to herself, but allowed Nico to lead her back to Asgard, though they lagged behind the others.
"I will not be blamed if an Asgardian ends up with a knife in his heart," they heard Clarisse mumbling and for once, Michelle agreed.
So…yeah. Possession. Because…what would Asgard or Olympus be without it? But anyways, the question. Who should Michelle end up with? Loki or Nico? I'm on the fence and need help because this story is starting to enter the stages of completion. And yes, I can picture Reyna getting offended that she has to guard a prisoner. Also, check me out on Polyvore, the name is flamingphoenix
