Wow, three reviews on the first chapter? That's a personal record for me! Of course, a thanking to the reviewers is needed.
bulma's snivy: Thanks! I was hoping this would be one of my better works. :)
Animelover4: I like female Guren too. She's like normal male Guren, but with enough tweaks to the personality to feel different. (Like cooing at her cat, which I'm sure the male version wouldn't really do. I think.) And I'll try my best on those updates!
HarmonicShadows: Glad you enjoy it! And, erm, as for Shadarus's problem, this is a different Guren in another universe. You still have your male one. ^^'
(Tosses reviewers packets of imaginary marshmallows)
Hey, I don't like to break my promises. Enjoy both the chapter and the imaginary marshmallows! :D
(I forgot this last chapter!)
Disclaimer: I don't own anything to do with Tenkai Knights. I'd also like to give a call out to: "Ennead: Season 0," the Yu-Gi-Oh! Fanfiction that helped me decide to write this, and still helps inspire me as I go. :) (It's amazing and people who like the original Yu-Gi-Oh series and manga should go take a look at it, if they don't mind genderbending.)
"Class, I'd like you to meet our new student." The redheaded teacher announced to her obviously distracted class as she gestured to the girl. "This is Guren Nash. Guren, would you like to tell us anything about yourself?"
Thinking she should be used to this by now, the teen was hesitating before replying. What to tell them…
"Uh, well I… My name's Guren Nash." Ugh, what was she saying!? The teacher just told them that!
"I uh, just moved here with my dad." Nope, that was boring. Did she really have nothing good to say?
"And, um… I like your tower?" Okay that did it. She needed to start writing down a small list of things to say for whenever she transferred schools. Guren was musing this when a pointed white object struck her in the forehead, and the teen frowned.
"Airplane at the new kid, like I haven't seen that one before." She said, gazing for the culprit as the teacher asked the snickering class who had thrown the paper object.
"Ceylan Jones!" The teacher scolded, picking up the airplane to find a fancy written message of "Courtesy of yours truly, the one and only Ceylan Jones," upon it.
"Well, since you seem to have taken such a particular liking to Guren, perhaps you wouldn't mind being his guide today?" It sounded more like an order to the dual-haired girl, not at all surprised that the teacher had accidentally messed up her gender. It was fairly clear that the word hadn't gotten out to any of the teachers yet, and therefore meaning they had to go off her particularly deep (for a girl, anyway, as most thought she had a high-pitched tone for a guy that was often blamed on puberty), voice and features to decipher it themselves.
It also didn't help that Guren loathed wearing anything she deemed "uncomfortable," meaning the color pink (her least favorite color), fashionable tops and skirts, and not to mention the curse called dresses, were usually nowhere to be found in her wardrobe. (Save for the one or two items that her father insisted she keep for special occasions.)
Not that it really related to being pushed to sit in the back next to a blue-haired boy, the one who had thrown the paper airplane at her head. Oh and it was a window seat. The dual-haired girl snorted slightly to herself.
That was most certainly not going to help her tendency to drift off during class. Windows always made it worse.
The boy was obviously just as distracted as she was, considering he found his pencil more interesting than what the teacher was talking about (Guren was sure she said something about Rome in there) and she sighed, turning her gaze to the ever distracting light of the window.
Tenkaaaai…
Her mind making a small "eep" sound, the dual-haired girl jumped slightly as she gazed around, looking for the source of the whispering of that strange word. Nothing in particular stood out, the class was just as bored as ever.
Sighing as she tried to focus on the lesson (the teacher was reviewing for her sake, after all), Guren wondered if her tired mind was playing tricks on her.
"Ahem."
Nope. She wasn't going to turn towards him.
"Ahem."
Since she was actually managing to keep a decent focus on the teacher as she drawled on about some guy named Caesar (why was history so utterly boring at times?) No. Guren was not going give attention to-
"AH-HEM."
'I'm too easily swayed for my own good.' The dual-haired teen thought as she turned to look at the boy next to her... Who immediately began making an angry-ish face?
His teeth were gritted together and sliding side to side, sea blue eyes crossed, with his nose scrunched up. Guren had no idea what to make of this, when suddenly the boy closed his eyes and revealed the small and silly patterns on his eyelids, along with a goofy little burp that came from a small smile.
'Don'tlaughdon'tlaughdon'tlaugh-'
Air was already leaking from her nose, as she snorted at the tiny pictures he'd made. It was no use, and she burst out in laughter, the sound echoing around the classroom and interrupting the teacher.
"Well I'm glad that you find the Roman Empire so funny, Guren." The teacher said, unimpressed and already suspecting that the blue haired boy wasn't an ideal choice to stick the new student with.
Stopping as she realized the entire class was staring (and of course, the real source of her noise making was pretending to have nothing to do with it), Guren felt her face heat up and gazed at her desk sheepishly.
"Uh, yes. Eh, I mean, no. Sorry." She apologized. Her face heated up more due to her slipping up, and she gave the other teen an unhappy look, to which he waved off, without even looking away from the teacher.
Guren let out a frustrated snort. She'd give him a piece of her mind, once class was over for sure. Which turned out to be sooner than she thought, as only twelve more minutes passed and the school bell began to ring loudly. It jerked her from her mix of thinking and trying to pay attention to the teacher, who sighed and looked over the class which was already practically half gone through the door.
"Alright everyone, remember to study for the test next Thursday." She announced, the teacher herself looking ready to leave the school.
Getting up, the blue-haired boy was surprisingly enough, waiting for Guren as she spotted him next to the door. He seemed like the type to leave as soon (or if possible, sooner) the bell rang, so it was awfully kind of him to wait as she gathered herself and came over.
"So uh, I get a free tour of the school? That's nice." Guren said, some of her anger having faded from not being ditched. That didn't happen very often when she switched schools, often needing to find her own way around.
"Yep, and you even get it from me! Isn't that great?" The boy grinned, putting his hands behind his head as walked. Guren gave a teasing smile; this boy was simply the joker of class, not some punk that was trying to land her in trouble.
"Well, it would be nice if you didn't attempt to make me the laughingstock of the class on my first day." She said. The other boy laughed himself.
"Oh don't worry about it. I've made them all laugh in class at some point." He explained smugly as a boy with green hair ran by quickly. "Even Joshua the Rock!"
'Joshua the Roc-' The dual-haired girl couldn't keep back a small laugh from once more escaping her lips as the thought of such a nickname crossed her mind. The blue-haired boy smiled goofily at her.
"Yeah, I called him a rock one day while trying to make him laugh, and then the name kinda just stuck. He did end up laughing at that though."
Oh such sweet irony. Guren was liking this boy more and more; he had a nice sense of humor (although it was obviously used to humiliate others slightly at times), and he was thoughtful enough to not ditch her when it would be easier to just go off with his other friends, which he very clearly had.
"So?" He questioned, their tour already coming to a close. The school was very expansive, but Guren only had a grand total of five places she needed to know of, honestly. "What do you think of the school so far?" The dual-haired teen smiled and looked up at the sky in a mock-distracted way.
"Well, there is this guy I had to sit next to, and it's like he's from another planet or something." She said, the other teen grinning. He could play this game just as well as she could.
"Tell me about it. At least you didn't get stuck with the new kid from middle-town with goofy hair that probably wants me to show him around the city." He said, as they both stopped and laughed a bit, before grinning at each other.
"I'm Ceylan Jones." The blue haired teen introduced himself formally. Not really wanting to bother with correcting the 'him' that Ceylan used, Guren smiled and held out her hand.
"My name's Guren." She said, shaking her new found friend's hand. It was odd, really. It usually took her a week at most to make at least one acquaintance, and a few days at the least. Ceylan began talking about some of the things that she'd "need to know" if she was going to be living there, and Guren listened happily, laughing at the constant cracks that the blue-haired teen liked to make.
As it turned out, that first day of school was a half-day (for what reasons were unknown), releasing the students before lunch even. Not that Guren planned on ignoring the one her father had made her, of course. But now she got to eat off of the school grounds, and spend some time with her new friend.
'Who knows?' She mused to herself, as Ceylan showed her the park where they both planned on eating their homemade meals. 'Maybe it'll be a lasting friendship, for once.'
The outdoor mall within the city was rather impressive, Guren had to admit.
Being one that had a small parking lot on a single side of it, people walked in and out without really using the area at all. Both stalls and stores lined almost every inch that the customers didn't. And hoo-boy, there were shops galore.
"Wow. This is, just… Wow." Guren voiced her being impressed by the shopping center. Ceylan laughed at her reaction.
"You aren't the first to say that, dude." He told her, already taking a good liking to Guren as much as she had him. They were two friends that just "clicked," having a good amount of same interests, they found, but also different ones to tell each other about. It wasn't long before Ceylan was calling Guren 'dude,' to which she was perfectly fine with.
"Come on, you've got to see the food court! They have this awesome sandwich shop that, if you know the magic words, make a special meal that's the best you'll ever tasted, not that I really know what's on it, but hey it's a secret recipe for a reason-" The blue-haired teen went on about the amazing place called "The food court" and the fantastic secrets he had discovered by being friends with most of the employees.
It was almost like Ceylan was another version of that blonde boy she had met earlier, except whereas the blonde hadn't meant to meet as many as he did, Ceylan really did make it his goal to have met as many people as he could. Guren could happily learn a few things from the sociable boy; she always ended up acting more shy than she meant to, her tongue slipping and her thought process just suddenly stopping whenever she began to talk to someone she didn't know very well. It ended up with her being embarrassed, and really being shy on accident.
Tenkaaaaai…
The whisper startled her again, and Guren looked around in surprise and finally caught sight of something suspicious- a glowing figure heading around the corner. She instantly took off after it, feeling the strongest urge to follow whatever this whispering thing was.
"..But then again, the pizza wasn't actually- Hey Guren, where are you going!? We haven't even tried the doughnut shop yet!" Ceylan called after her, running to catch up with the dual-haired teen.
Not stopping, she simply kept on using her gut instinct to follow the glowing being. And once she was finally unsure of where to head next, it had lead them to a less populated area of the mall, where there were more oddity shops that sold antiques and handmade products.
Huffing behind her, the blue-haired teen finally managed to catch up, barely keeping with the other teen before.
"Dude... " He panted. "What the heck?"
Guren didn't heed him any attention, listening carefully to her surroundings, when the voice whispered again, it was almost like someone had breathed down her back, which sent shivers up her spine.
Seeing the hairs on the back of her neck stand up, Ceylan looked at the dual-haired teen in confusion. "What's wrong?" He asked, to which she gave him a just as confused expression.
"You mean you can't hear it? Those weird whispers?" She asked, looking around once again for the source of said whispers.
Tenkaaaaai…
It seemed to be getting stronger and more frequent, the closer she was to wherever this thing was leading her. And now as she began running again (much to the protest of her friend), she became vaguely aware that her stomach was getting giddy, for some odd reason. Brushing it off for the moment, Guren searched high and low until she was certain she'd found the place it had wanted to take her.
A shop, lined outside by strange masks and old looking objects. Ceylan walked up next to her, unamused by their current destination.
"A junk shop?" He stated. "That's what you led me all over the mall for?" Giving a sheepish smile, the dual-haired teen pointed at the store.
"Well, I suppose my gut's telling me we should head inside." She said, walking towards the entrance. The blue-haired boy groaned audibly.
"Nobody goes in there, you know! We're really just wasting precious time that could be spent with some great sandwiches, or even doughnuts!" He complained, yet still following closely behind her.
The place around it was deserted, to say the least. Not a person was standing outside, and people seemed to veer away unpurposefully somehow, every time they came near. The aura of the shop was almost dark, just like the inside that Guren and Ceylan walked into.
'Huh, not even indoor lighting?' Guren mused, gazing about at the many strange and exotic items on display for sale. 'This place IS an antique shop.'
"Hey, is anybody here?" The girl called, hoping to see if someone could explain her odd gut instincts to her. Ceylan shuddered when there was no reply.
"Anybody here ever?" He asked more quietly. Once again, no reply came.
Taking a step forward from the door they had yet to come through, Guren began a closer inspection of the antiques.
"Woah, some of these look really old." She said, looking at even more masks and odd statues, which hid other interesting objects behind them and underneath or within boxes. Her friend rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, some really old junk is totally worth our time." He said, and Guren vaguely wondered if all boys were like this, or if it was just Ceylan. "I bet you some of the items are worth a lot." She tried to catch his interest.
It partially worked, and he perked up slightly. "Expensive junk? Well, I guess that this isn't a total waste." He admitted, looking things over a little more carefully. "Hey, some classics." He commented, looking over a lineup of old robotic figures.
'Yep, he's most certainly-' Guren cut her amused thought off, as her purple-ish eyes landed on two little bricks, both held within a separate case each, next to two similar empty cases. One white, the other blue.
The white brick in particular called out to her, although both seemed to be out of place for some reason. They looked to be made of plastic, or that was simply the way the sunlight which filtered through the large window was making it seem.
"Hey Ceylan, check these out." Guren called to her friend, who stopped playing with a mask (having planned to put it on and make his friend turn around to it), setting the item down to walk over and gaze at what she had found.
"Gee tiny bricks. Hey, how much do you think those are worth?" He asked, earning an eye roll from the other teen.
"Well, I suppose that depends on one's personal views."
A new voice added itself to the mix, very much startling Guren and Ceylan as the two turned around, arms flailing slightly and random stutters exiting their mouths. The man behind them, who had stated his opinion, sighed. He didn't really mean to startle the two, though the way he'd grinned and accidentally bent himself in an angle, that caused his glasses to glint against the filtering sunlight, probably didn't help.
It was a few moments before the two spazzing teens calmed down, standing in front of the tall white-themed man in stiff positions that suggested they were very uncomfortable.
"We uh, didn't mean to barge in." Guren apologized, wondering when the man would stop staring at her and Ceylan with that strangely knowing and mysterious gaze. This man had a history, but what it was exactly, belonged to him alone.
The man smiled in a far more friendly way than before, standing up more straight. "It's quite alright. This is a shop, and they are meant to be welcoming. Feel free to look around the Shop of Wonders as you please." He said, gesturing about the shop with a widespread motion of his hands.
"Er, okaaay." Ceylan said as his eyes turned to the side, clearly still not very trusting of the man. On the other hand, Guren's gaze swiftly fell back to the bricks. The white one was practically begging her to pick it up, but it wasn't like she was supposed to know if they were touchable- They were inside cases. A hand suddenly fell on her shoulder, and the teen let out a tiny "Eep!" Before realizing that it was only the shop owner. The sound was too silent to reach her friend's ears, though.
"Would you like to take a closer look at it?" He questioned, a gleam appearing in his eye. Guren blinked at him, before smiling slightly and nodding. The man swiftly removed the bricks from both cases, handing the white one to the dual-haired girl, and the blue one to Ceylan, who looked at it incredulously, his face giving a clear message of: "What the heck am I supposed to do with this?"
Rather than pondering over the powerful feelings she gained by simply touching the object, Guren looked the little block in curiousity. She suddenly noticed a small crack, making connecting lines around it. Pulling at the side of her brick, she was surprised to find a part bent outwards.
The blue-haired teen instantly started panicking.
"Dude, you just broke it! We're probably gonna have to pay, and FYI, I don't get that much allowance!" He complained, but the man placed his hand on the boy's shoulder.
"Hang on Ceylan, let's see what Guren does." He urged calmly for the girl to continue and she obliged, pulling the different parts as they seemed to want to go, until she suddenly realized that there was a little red and white robot sitting in her palm.
"Dude, cool! You made a robot!" Ceylan shouted as she held it up proudly, former panic forgotten. "How'd you make a robot!?"
After thinking for a moment and not really coming up with an answer, the girl shrugged.
"I'm not really sure." She answered, looking up to the man in white, as he smiled at the robot in her palm. "I just kinda… Followed my instincts?" She decided eventually. Her friend's face lit up as he looked at his own brick.
"I wonder what this one looks like!" He exclaimed excitedly as he began to pull at it, becoming frustrated when it didn't budge. The dual-haired girl was trying hard not to point out that he was simply tugging at the entire brick and not the foldable parts, as she had done. Perhaps when he was less excited, and willing to actually look carefully at it.
Tenkaaaai…
Guren once again mentally jumped, looking up and behind her at the upstairs area. Not that anything was there, but she was getting very irritated by the constant whispers, as well as slightly jumpy, like she was in that horror movie she'd accidentally glimpsed once. (Never again, for she still had nightmares.)
"You know, those little bricks really seem to belong with you two." The man commented after watching Ceylan struggle in his vain attempts to pull his blue block apart. Suddenly, he clapped his hands. "I've got it! As a gift for being my first customers in a very long while, I'll let you keep them."
Both teens looked up in surprise and joy. "Really?" Guren asked, pleased when the man nodded.
"All I ask in return is to spread word about my Shop of Wonders!" He said, and the two nodded, both thinking they'd probably forget to do so, anyway. (They were teenagers, were they not?)
After learning the man's name was Mr. White, the two left soon after with a couple of friendly waves. As they turned to face forward and away from the shop, Ceylan suddenly stopped, blinked a couple of times, and started to snort, which quickly turned into laughter. Guren looked at him oddly.
"What's so funny?" She asked, trying to figure out what could make him double over in the way he was so suddenly.
Still laughing as he explained, the blue-haired teen pointed ahead of them, directly in front of the shop. Across from the "Shop of Wonders" was a sandwich store, and Ceylan only laughed even harder.
"W-we were coming here in the first place! The sandwich shop I was talking about!" That was all he could get out, before all that came out was the sound of his laughter. Guren snorted herself, before joining her friend in his joyful noise making, regardless of the looks sent their way.
As it turned out, Ceylan was dead right about the special sandwiches. They were amazing, and it was only Guren's already slightly filled stomach that prevented her from ordering more and most likely overeating. She still had dinner to come home to, and it was going to be one of the few that her father would be capable of making before getting completely caught up in his work.
After showing her one last particular spot that was actually fairly close to her house (a small park that overlooked the city, giving a wonderful view of the far off sunset), Ceylan had to leave. So once they had exchanged numbers, the two separately left for home. Guren was fortunate enough that she was very good at memorizing her surroundings, usually only needing to head somewhere once before knowing how to get there herself. It was most likely a mix of being a random skill, and having developed it since her dad was usually a bit too busy with his constant work (no matter where they ended up), to be taking her to and from places.
Pulling out her little robot, Guren smiled at it as she walked home. Once her friend had calmed down and looked over at the dual-haired girl for help, she had gladly shown him the cracks, to which he insisted that he "figured they had something to do with it" (not that she had been very convinced), and found it easy to transform his brick into a small blue robot. Ceylan had quickly become proud of it, and wouldn't put the thing away the rest of their hangout time. (Even when both mused about how Mr. White somehow knew their names.)
The dual-haired teen smiled as she thought of her friend's antics. He was already turning out to be one of her better friends, but he obviously still wasn't aware of her actual gender. And once he was, Guren wondered if he would treat her differently, or even leave her as some of the others had. The girl thoroughly hoped not, but if he ended up doing so, it would be his own choice, she decided as she re-pocketed the little bot.
Finally reaching her house and coming inside, Guren was quickly greeted by a very happy and hungry Max, who wanted to be fed right away as she pulled off her shoes. So she scooped the cat up and walked into the kitchen, finding her dad was home and already cooking dinner. He looked up from the pot and smiled at his daughter.
"Welcome home Guren, how was the first day of school?" He asked. The girl smiled as she set the cat down and picked up his bowl, setting it on the counter as she searched the cabinets for his food.
"Actually, it was pretty great." She admitted, finding cups and plates rather than cat chow. "I've already made a pretty great friend."
Her father turned back to the soup and continued with his stirring. "Do they know yet?"
Laughing slightly, Guren opened another cupboard to find cereal. "No, I don't think he does." She said, shuffling the boxes around to see if Max's food was hidden behind one. "He calls me 'dude'."
A snort came from her father, and Max jumped up onto the counter, pawing at his owner. She looked at the cat, who instantly jumped back down and pawed a cabinet near the floor.
"Me-row." He said, which Guren figured meant, "It's in here!" And sure enough, when she opened the small wooden door the cat food was waiting patiently.
"Thanks Max." His owner smiled as she pulled the box out and set it on the counter. Why some people didn't think that their pets could be capable of being smart, was beyond her. Whenever she felt down, Max was always there. When he wanted a walk, the cat would drag his owner to the topless crate and jump in. He even brought over his toy when he felt like playing (which was a lot, Guren had to admit.)
Shaking food into the bowl and setting it on the floor, the black cat began gobbling the chow as Guren stroked his back. Her father hummed thoughtfully.
"So do you plan on telling him anytime soon?" He asked gently, knowing full well that his daughter tended to make male friends before her gender was realized, and moving on to the "expected" female ones as most males left her alone after. She was usually saddened to lose the older pals, but it showed which were actual friends and which weren't, in its own painful way.
Guren stopped petting her cat temporarily as she realized what he was saying. "I'm not sure. He's really nice, and I don't want to risk losing him as a friend."
"You know that he'll figure it out eventually, especially since there's a beach connected to the city." Her father commented, adding more ingredients to his soup. "And you've outgrown your old swimsuit."
Oh no, not this conversation again. She and her father had come across a small disagreement concerning her choice of swimwear, which was previously trunks and a swimming shirt. But she was growing up, and the shirt wasn't exactly appropriate anymore. This led to her dad deciding that it was high time she start wearing female suits, but Guren didn't like the way they clung to her form and made her feel extremely self-conscious. Thus, they couldn't find an agreement on what she was to wear, and had yet to make a shopping trip for the new suit.
She groaned at his attempt to bring it up.
"Dad, not now please. I'd rather not fight on our first day here." Guren said, still pondering what to do about Ceylan and telling him of her gender. He was very friendly, humorous, and had almost all of the same interests she did. And regardless of how he acted, the dual-haired girl suspected he cared more for the well being of others than he let on. An ideal friend she could only dream of, except for the part where she needed to inform him that she was in fact, a 'dudette.'
Noticing the girl's plight, her father sighed as he put on one of his gentle smiles. "You head back to your room and rest for now. Dinner isn't going to be ready for a while, anyway."
Only realizing how utterly tired she felt after he had said the word "rest," Guren did her best to stifle the yawn that magically cropped up. Between meeting her new friend, walking around almost the entire city, and waking up early, she'd become far more tired than intended. Bed sounded like pure heaven, at the time.
Besides, she could check out the little robot she had gotten, and see exactly what it was.
Getting up from her crouched position, Guren walked back to her room, pondering the possibilities for her new item. Maybe it was some forgotten toy line, where only a very few were left at all. That would be interesting, for sure.
Sitting down at her desk and setting the little bot on it, she held up her wrist communicator.
"Alright little fella, let's what you are and where you're from." She said as the red scanner she pulled up ran over the miniature bot. A few seconds later, the watch brought up a big red circle with its middle horizontally crossed out over the holographic screen.
"No matches found." Her watch told her. Guren frowned as she put the screen away, setting her head down on her desk to lay eye-to-eye with the bot.
"Not a thing, huh?" Well there went her previous idea for the forgotten line of toys. Leaning back in thought, the girl randomly wondered if Ceylan was doing the same with his robot, or if he was simply goofing around with it.
"Probably the second one." She giggled, as Max plodded into the room and jumped up onto her bed. This was soon followed by frequent meowing, in the cat's version of pulling his owner to the bed.
'Maybe it's Max's fault I can be easily swayed.' Guren thought in amusement, picking up the robot and gazing at it. "I'll dig deeper another time." She said, absently folding it back into its brick form and walking over to the bed. She set the white block down on the wooden board behind her pillow and flopped down.
While her cat made himself comfortable on his chest, the dual-haired girl struggled to stay awake. The bed was so soft, her pet purring in a comforting fashion, and she felt so tired…
Finally letting the profound yawns out, Guren felt her eyes shutting already.
'Well dad did say that supper was going to take a while, anyway. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to sleep for a while…'
That was all she thought before the drowsiness took her over completely.
CRACK!
The lightning flashed above her, illuminating the canyon she had found herself in at the moment. Standing across from her was the one she knew that could mean total destruction to their planet, if not more.
"Give it up Bravenwolf! Your Tenkai energy has grown weak, while mine still flows strongly with the darkness!" The large black and red robot announced, his trident's end stamping the ground harshly. "The universe is mine!"
While she hated to admit it, he was fairly correct. What little energy she had left would hardly hold up against his powered up attacks. But she wasn't who she was for nothing, and because of that, she wasn't about to give up.
"The universe isn't yours to take, Villius! It doesn't belong to anyone!" She shouted back, swinging her glowing red sword defiantly in an arc. "You need to remember how to share it like you used to!"
This caused the other bot to growl, to which she quickly prepared her sword as he swung his trident, it catching on the blade. The two began to strike, stab and swing, sparks erupting from the weapons as they did.
"You dare try using our history to throw me off!? I will destroy you!" The large bot shouted, jumping backwards and into the sky. "Dark Tenkai Storm!"
Glowing purple orbs appeared around him as he gained an aura of the same shade, and the orbs came flying at her. She batted away whatever ones she could, but as soon as one bypassed her shield, landing on her foot, she stumbled as the burning, draining feel overtook her legs. Another came flying into her and she pathetically tried to block the next which collided with her chest. More came, hitting her all over, one striking her wrist that called out immediately in pain. Finally, one exploded in front of her, sending her flying as she felt the burning sensation take over her body…
For a moment, as she came flying out of bed, it was all in slow motion for Guren. Max was flying off her chest, the blanket slipping from her legs. The only color noticeable was the red glow near her pillows, which suddenly faded and everything was normal once again.
Bouncing up and down on the mattress after landing, the dual-haired girl sat panting and clutching her wrist. She could feel the pain it was in before, during her dream. It thoroughly startled the teen, and Guren could even feel her red hair clinging to her forehead as it had done that morning. Her cat came over, setting a paw on the lap of his owner as he meowed in concern.
"That…" The girl panted as she checked her wrist. "Was scary."
Not a mark could be found on her arm and the girl gazed at it in confusion, still feeling a small tingling sensation left from her dream. Guren frowned, as the cat resorted to rubbing his cheek against her arm comfortingly. "But what was that dream?" She wondered aloud, hundreds of questions running through her head. It was all interrupted by her father's sudden call.
"Guren! Dinner is ready!" He said loudly in his usual friendly tone up the stairs. "Come and get it!"
His daughter took a deep breath and exhaled. It was just a dream, nothing more. She told herself this over a few times as she left the bed, patting her cat a couple of times before heading to leave her room.
After all, there wasn't any such thing as giant super-powered robots. That thought was just silly, and Guren pushed the thoughts of her strange dream from her mind as she came down the stairs for dinner.
The brick glowed red unknowingly when the room was empty.
Ha HA! I managed to finish a chapter well before a month! Take that, attention span! Of course, waiting about an ENTIRE week to update felt like forever... (No guarantees for the schedule though, because if I do promise, I'll end up breaking it. A bunch.)
You know, it almost feels like someone is telling me what to write here, and all I'm supposed to do is double-check the grammar or something. I guess that's why some people use the term "muse." :)
Things are finally starting to pick up, since it's been pretty slicey-of-lifey, but the idea is that Guren and the rest were ordinary before becoming Tenkai Knights. Well, except for Gen and Beni, but we don't really know enough about them yet to make assumptions…
Oh, and Ceylan is fun to use. He's so goofy and in denial of caring about stuff. ^.^
