Chapter 2
"Good morning," said Luke. He gave her a quick kiss and then a strange look. "Mara, what's wrong?"
"It was just a dream." Mara wasn't sure whether she was trying to convince Luke of that or herself.
"I can't see you getting this concerned about just a dream." Luke was not taking her eyes off her. Mara sighed. Why was the farmboy always right? "What happened?"
"The spirit of a Sith appeared to me. Or at least I think that's what happened." Mara leaned back against the bed, took a deep breath, and tried to get that voice out of her mind.
"You're probably right. I've had dreams in which spirits appeared to me. What did he want?"
"He's not happy that you brought the Jedi back."
"I suppose not. But really, I don't think he can do anything to us. He can only try to manipulate us into doing what he wants."
"True enough." While Mara believed him, she could also sense that he was concerned. She couldn't blame him. Not that she could imagine ever harming Luke, but the Sith had been the bane of his existence.
Still, they didn't want to let some spirit control their lives. So the two of them went through the rest of their busy day as though nothing had happened. After all, there were apprentices to train, arrangements to be made with the New Republic, and a Temple to be kept up.
That only lasted a day, however…..
