I woke up and immediately realized that I was in Clary's bedroom but she wasn't in my arms. I heard noises coming from her bathroom. I went in there to see that she was emptying the contents of her stomach into the porcelain toilet. I rushed to her side and swept her fiery hair out of her beautiful face. Once she cleaned her face, I asked her if she was alright. "Yeah, I'm fine. It's just morning sickness."

I hugged her to my chest. "I'm sorry, Clare-Bear."

"Why are you apologizing?" she asked softly.

"Well, it's kind of my fault that you're pregnant."

"I don't blame you, Jace. It's my fault just as much as it is yours." I disagreed but I decided to stay quiet.

"I think it's his fault more than yours, Clare." We both turned around to face the door to see Jonathon standing in the doorway of the bathroom.

"What are you doing in my bathroom, Jon?"

"I only came to speak with Jace." Clary glanced at me nervously but I squeezed her hand lightly in reassurance and she quietly left the room, probably to go get some breakfast. I slowly followed Jon out of the bathroom into Clary's bedroom. He sat on the bed while I rolled her desk chair closer to the bed.

"Is this going to be the dreaded 'I'm her big brother, don't hurt her' speech?" He looked at me sheepishly and shrugged. "You know I can kick your ass, right?"

He glared daggers at me. "Look, Clary is the most important person in my life. If you ever hurt her, I will buy a gun just to shoot you with it."

"Jon, I'm sorry for getting Clary pregnant. But I promise that I will always be there for the child like I will always be there for Clary. I intend to marry her someday. And I will spend the rest of my life trying to please her. I know you don't approve of us as a couple. But I really hope that you will accept me."

"Fine, but only because Clary will kill me if I don't." We both stood up and he surprised me by giving me a bro hug like he used to in high school. Except this time, it was much more awkward. Which is understandable since in high school, we were best friends, whereas now, I'm just his little sister's boyfriend who got her pregnant.

We both decided to head downstairs where Luke had pancakes and bacon waiting. He gave me my plate and I thanked him. My girlfriend was chewing on a piece of bacon. "Hey, sweetie, can I see your laptop? I need to start job hunting."

"Do you really need to do that right away?" she asked me quietly.

"I need to find a job before the baby comes." She smiled up at me and kissed my cheek as I pulled up Google on her Internet browser. I typed in "available teaching jobs in Manhattan" before pressing the search button. Jocelyn and Luke looked at me curiously. "What?" I asked, feeling uncomfortable under their stares.

"You're really serious about being a father?" Jocelyn asked me. Luke just stood with his arms crossed and a grimace on his face.

"Of course I'm serious about this. I love Clary more than anything. There's no way I'm letting her go through this alone. Plus, I always pictured myself as a family man. It's just happening sooner than I thought it would. And I'm fine with that as long as I'm always by her side and she's always by mine." I smiled at her gently as she wrapped her arms around my neck. "And I am going to love that child just as much as I love you. If not, more," I said directly to Clary.

"Jace," Luke suddenly said. "You can stay here with Clary as long as you'd like. But you'd better only be sleeping while in her room."

"Of course, sir. I'm not allowed to anything anyway. Part of my parole is that I can't do any of that until Clary is at least eighteen." Everyone still looked uncomfortable so Clary broke the silence by looking at the computer's screen.

"Jace, look, there's an opening for a chemistry professor at NYU. You always wanted to focus on chemistry." I smiled at her and kissed her on the cheek.

"Oh, I'm going to send this link to Alec. They're also looking for a poetry professor." I emailed the link to Alec and added the phone number of the university onto my phone. "I'm going to call them and see if that job is still open."

I called the number to an official voice saying, "Hello, this is New York University in New York City, New York. How may we help you?"

"Hello, I would just like to see if the chemistry professor position is still open."

"Yes, it is. A professor who is teaching this semester is retiring and we are currently accepting applications and resumes. If you are interested in the position, then please mail in a resume to the university. You must have a master's degree in education and chemistry and/or sciences."

"Yes, Ma'am. Thank you." I hung up the phone and smiled widely. I should get paid more for being a professor than a teacher. Then I can hopefully provide a nice enough life for my child. I went back into the kitchen and told everyone that I was going to apply. Clary grinned brightly and jumped into my arms.

"Um, honey, I'm kind of seeing a little problem with this," Jocelyn said to Clary. "If Jace gets that job, then there's a possibility that he could be your teacher. Then you'll be exactly where you are now."

"Jace, that reminds me. I got a letter from NYU while you were…um…away." Clary hands me the letter and I see that the letter says, "Congratulations, Clarissa Fray, you have been accepted to attend New York University in the upcoming fall semester." I wrapped my arms around her waist and twirled her around.

"Clary, I am so proud of you!"

"Thank you, now put me down before I puke!" I gently put her down and kissed her forehead.

"If I'm her professor, it's going to be even easier to hide than in high school. Don't worry about me, Mrs. Fray. The only ones I'm worried about are Clary and that child. When she's eighteen, she'll be legal and in college. If the college were to find out, I would get fired but hey wouldn't be able to arrest me."

Sorry if it isn't great but I've been having terrible writer's block. I know I don't update as often as I should but hopefully I'll update more now that I got a windows surface tablet for Christmas. I am also sorry that this chapter was so short.
