I do not own Naruto.

"Sakura, you could get a field promotion," Naruto said attempting to cheer the girl up.

"We'll be with you most of the time too," Naruto tried again a little desperately.

Kiba wasn't lending much help, just nodding along with whatever the blond said.

Sakura continued to drown her sorrows in multiple bowls of ramen.

She would be in the miserable desert known as Suna for at least a year, not her idea of fun. Of course missions weren't supposed to be fun, but they weren't supposed to be at least a year in length.

It wasn't fair that the Hokage had to pick the least conditioned shinobi to lead the mission. Why hadn't she picked Ino or Shikamaru to be the spy? They were certainly more experienced with that sort of thing.

Sakura sighed. She didn't have enough time to wallow in self pity, she had to be prepared both mentally and emotionally for the Suna ninja that would interogate her upon arrival. She needed to train too, but Naruto and Kiba could help her do that. If she worked hard enough maybe she could get that field promotion Tsunade promised to her if she carried her role out efficiently.

'Maybe this mission won't be so bad,' Sakura smiled.

Kiba and Naruto looked up. "You ready to train?" Sakura asked.

Naruto looked elated while Kiba fixed her with a contented smile. "Yeah."

A/N: I updated relatively quickly, I think. Probably because this chapter was extremely short and didn't involve much thought. I know the chapters are very short, and I apologize, but short chapters help me update faster. I appreciate the reviews. Everybody likes encouragement, so thanks. Please feel free to review.
