The gang try to navigate their way through the tunnel. Several of them stumble and Stef loses her glasses, but Mikey and Kelly had otherwise made it through okay.
"I'm down for adventure, but why did it have to lead us here of all places?" She mumbles to herself.
Mikey overhears her. "I thought you liked doing this kinda stuff? What was that magnifying glass in your room for anyway?"
"I told you. It used to be my dad's." She reaches into her shirt, causing Mikey to turn his head away, and pulls out the magnifying glass. It was hanging on a chain around her neck. "It's not that heavy or big, and I thought maybe I would wear it."
"Is it important to you?"
Kelly watches her feet as she walks. "Yes. It's really important."
Before they can say anything else, Mouth squeezes his way in between them and smiles. "So sorry, did I interrupt your little moment?"
They both blush and shake their heads. Mouth then steps in front of them. "We all want to know where the hell we're going then!"
"We've been walking forever!" Andi complains.
"Well," Brand starts. "I'm the oldest, so I'm in charge." He scratches his head.
"Data, do you have a light?" Mikey asks.
Data begins to nod his head when Brand intervenes. "Hey! I said I was in charge." He turns to Data. "Do you have a light?"
He walks to the front and presents his invention: Bully Blinders. As he tells its backstory, the bright light blinds everyone and causes them to run into each other.
"Data, Data! Turn it off!" Kelly shouts. She reaches out for Data but by the time she gets close the lights turn off by themselves.
Kelly's eyes didn't adjust immediately and she lost her footing. She fell into the ground and sighed. Data helps her stand back up again. "Oh Data, that's the only problem. Batteries don't last that long. Sorry, Kelly."
"It's okay, Data." She says. She looks around to see if anyone else had noticed her fall.
"Guys, there's a light up ahead, maybe we can get out that way! Let's go!" Mikey says, leading them out once again.
Author's Note:
So, I know I've received a complaint in the reviews about how my story is similar to the script for the actual movie. I've been trying as of recently to not write everything verbatim, but I'd just like to emphasize that I was young when I began writing this. I'm a lot better at writing now than I ever was back then, but I can't rewrite those 7-8 chapters all over again. That's just unrealistic and time consuming. I'm going to start writing more for this and my goal is to finish this sometime this year or the beginning of next year. I can't do it without reviews though. I need to know that people are reading and my work is actually entertaining someone.
Thank you for staying loyal to the story if you have. Maybe if this gets enough attention and is well received, I'll write a sequel. I've got a few ideas.
Thanks again! Read, review, favorite, whatever!
