**Sorry for the delay, I just recently started college, and have been bogged down with homework and stuff, I'm also writing part of this in class… So… yeah. Also: It has been brought to my attention that my squiggles are not showing up, so back to plain old lines for me! Also: I have a headcannon theory that will be prominent in this story.
Headcannon: Grunkle Stan had a brother named Stanley
My evidence:
To be a Great Uncle, you have to be the brother of either a grandmother or a grandfather. Dipper looks a bit younger Stanford, and genetically a young man will mostly take after his maternal grandfather, meaning that Stanford had a brother (twin or otherwise).
El Diablo (Stanford's car) has the license plate of STNLYMBL (Stanley Mobile). Although it is possible Standford when with the nickname "Stanley", he is shown by going with just "Stan".
Bill Cipher seems to debate "Stan Pines" for a bit, flashing to a younger, slightly different looking version of Stan (different glasses, has the cleft chin?) then flashes to Stanford's tattoo and seems to realize "Ah-HA! That's the Stan this kid's talking about!"
In the flashbacks, Stanford is usually slightly unshaved wearing a white shirt, full-rimmed glasses, and has an inward-curved nose with a smooth chin, while in others he [Stanley?] is clean shaven with a black shirt, half-rimmed glasses, outward curved nose, and a cleft chin.
But then what happened to Stanley? I don't know! We'll just have to wait to see if this headcannon, which is supported by a YouTube video I watched a bit ago by kittykat406 (on YouTube) is correct!
Chapter 5: Get Back on Track
- 3rd Person POV-
"Look, I've already told these kids that there's nothing strange here in Gravity Falls. Don't you think that if they did actually see something mythical here they'd tell me?" Stanford Pines whispered to his former friends.
"Not if they think you don't believe in this kind of stuff." Dom hissed. 'They probably think that you're just a grumpy old man who let his life get away from him."
"Watch it, Dominick. I'm perfectly happy running the Mystery Shack!"
"It's not like you have much of a choice with the dragon council believing you died of natural causes years ago."
"Will both of you just shut up?" Mariah asked loudly. "This is not the time to be arguing! There will be plenty of time to settle our differences later, but for now, we have to figure out what's been causing all the activity around here, perform at a show, and regain our old territory!"
Dominick and Stan became quiet, and turning away from each other childishly, looked at Mariah.
Taking a deep breath, the teenager sighed. "We need to work together if we're going to figure anything out. And we need to talk to those kids. Stanford, if you want to stay out of this investigation, be my guest. We won't report you to the dragon council because you helped us escape in the past. But if you start a fight with any of us, we will have no choice. Do we have a deal?"
"Fine, but keep these kids safe. I don't want to have to explain to their parents that they're now mentally scarred because they stayed with me over the summer and my crazy friends from school showed up." Stanford Pines grumbled.
"That shouldn't be a problem."
"Okay then. You talk to the kids, I'm going outside for some fresh air."
"Of course."
-Mariah POV-
I looked over at Dipper. How do I bring up magical creatures to a twelve year old? He probably doesn't even believe in half of the stuff I'm going to tell him… Dominick patted my shoulder.
"So all we have to do is ask if he's seen anything unusual and or mystical around here?" Dominick asked quietly.
"Yes, but what if he doesn't even believe in this sort of stuff? Remember in middle school? Even though we knew very well that magic existed, the others didn't. By age twelve humans are over fantasy and magic, no more fairies, dragons, or myths. For them, if they don't see it, they don't believe it." I looked outside and saw Mabel driving Tony and Jules crazy, jumping around holding her pig, and looking absolutely drunk with joy. "But maybe she'll be more open to magical creatures." I looked back at my twin brother. "Dominick? How about you talk to Dipper? I'll go talk to Mabel." Before he could get another word out, I jumped out of the RV, and ran over to Mabel.
"Hey! Did you get a chance to eat yet?" I asked the short twelve-year-old.
"I sure did! Hot dogs are delicious!" She grinned up at me.
"Good, let's go sit down and take a break, I have something I need to tell you…" As we began walking towards a fallen log, I began, "This began quite a long time ago. In the 40's, when an elementary school student found a secret in Gravity Falls, Oregon…"
Cliff hanger time! I know, it's a bit short, but I promise that at some point, these chapters will get longer. I just have a psychology mid-term coming up, and I already missed one test because I was in the hospital for a while, so I can't miss this one. I'll write when I can, and upload when I can as well (seeing as when I wrote this, I had no internet connection because my uncle gave me the wrong wifi password). Thank you so much for reading my story thus far! Please review so I know how many of you enjoy my work! Also: I haven't had any problem with haters or flamers, but please, if you have criticism, make it constructive. Rather than "i h8 this story, u suc & cant write" Please explain what I could improve upon!
XOXO
JM
