StarFox: Chosen SEED
Chapter 5
Prey in Sight
There was no certainty for what they would come to find, taking only a couple steps forward before having a hand fall upon his left shoulder. He immediately stopped, turning back to see a concerned look on his brothers face.
"Dony, is something wrong?"
"Just give me a second." Donatello said before holding out a small device.
He looked down at it, not certain he had ever seen it before.
"What's that?" Leonardo asked with the nod of his head.
"I said before someone set off the perimeter alarm," Donatello reminded. "This will let us know exactly where it came from."
"Ok," Leonardo said bringing a hand to the top of his head. "I guess that makes sense."
He watched him for moments more as he played around with the small device, waiting for him to give an update on the situation. Fortunately for him he wouldn't have to wait long.
"Got it," Donatello announced as he looked back up to face him. "The south-west side."
"At what distance," Leonardo asked. "In the lair?"
"Fortunately not," Donatello replied pleased to report. "The alarm that was tripped off was at about sixty yards out."
"Well what are we waiting for," Leonardo said with a change in tone. "Let's go check in on our visitors."
"There's a chance whoever set the alarm off could be gone by time we get there."
"Only one way to be sure of that," Leonardo said before walking toward the exit just up ahead. "Come on."
"Right behind you."
He followed him all the way, both stopping after reaching the large door which resembled that of a turtle shell. With the press of the button located on the right side the door slowly pushed upward, allowing the both of them to pass through. They did just that, listening as the door closed back into place after doing so.
They were now in the heart of the sewer, breathing in its line of air which circulated strongly throughout the tunnels before them. The true mission began in that second, both keeping a clear mind as they marched on. Neither had to say it, the tension couldn't be any more clear, even if neither of them wanted to admit to it. Over a minute passed with the two quietly walking along, reaching back to grab hold of one of his swords as an added precaution.
"Hey Don," Leonardo spoke with his eyes still set on the walked path. "How much further."
"Good question."
With that said he looked back down at the device in hand, getting a better feel for how much longer they had to go before reaching the destined spot.
"Not too much further at all," Donatello replied. "No more than a couple."
His words were cut off by a sudden sound, one which could only be described as a splash. This put their alert at its peak, both grabbing their weapons as they prepared themselves for an encounter.
"It came from around the corner." Donatello whispered.
"Move with caution." Leonardo said in response.
However this decision was put on hold with the sound of footsteps ringing clear, ones which implied someone was heading their way. The two stopped, a move that went without saying. Their stance was held for several moments more, witnessing as a shadow appeared upon the wall a couple feet ahead. Someone was definitely coming, both gripping their weapons tightly as they prepared themselves for anything.
"This is it."
Those next seconds brought the tune of someone whistling, watching as someone stepped from around the corner, in turn revealing who they were.
"Casey," Donatello said with the raise of a brow. "What are you doing here?"
"I thought I'd stop by and check in on you guys," Their close friend responded. "That ok which you?"
"Not at all," Leonardo said lowering his katana. "Though I'd advice calling first next time."
"Come on," Donatello instructed with the wave of his hand. "We can save further discussions for after we've reached the lair."
"Sounds good to me." Casey agreed.
"After you." Leonardo said before stepping aside while holding out a hand.
His invitation was accepted, walking forward with nothing further to add. After watching the two set the course he followed, not a thought in mind this was only the beginning of what would unfold on this given night.
….
The air couldn't be any more clear, taking in all the scents that the city provided. The beauty of it could only be rivaled of the sight of the city, marveled by the several different structures that towered in size. This coupled in with the gorgeous colors being put on display by the many lights topped it off.
But that wasn't the most alluring to its eyes, but rather the inhabitants that walked the streets, bringing a tongue to its top lip before smirking evilly.
"It's time to feed."
