Next Door
Chapter 12: TFN (This Friday Night Pt 2)
Aaaaaaaaand here is the update for this story. Goodness this one is rather long, but you all deserve it! I hope you guys didn't forget what happened so far in the story (because I sure have...) heh heh, just a little author's humor. Anyways, please enjoy my latest installment of Next Door and thank you all for reading and staying with me!
He paced back and forth in his living room, every once in a while checking his watch underneath the cuff of his shirt. Where was she? Risa was really trying his patience. He almost wanted to walk next door and just scoop up the woman from her home, bring her back to his place, and just get on with her transformation. Sesshoumaru smirked at the thought of beautiful Risa in newfound form. She would be perfect for him, and even if she objected, it would only be for a little while before Risa accepted her body and new life. The woman shall even come to love it!
And come to love him…
"Hmph, Risa will sing me nothing but praises of my work once she sees how much more well-off she is as a demon like me; and a taiyoukai of all things!"
Suddenly, he heard a ring at the door stopping his musings. His grin widened, revealing his strikingly white fangs.
"Finally…"
Risa stood at his porch, fiddling with her hair which was now styled with many curls and twists to frame her small, round face. She wore a simple white dress with a green ribbon tied around the waist to match her eyes and chose white flats for her shoes. While standing there waiting for her date to come to the door, Risa sighed as she looked at her open phone, a picture of Koga and her sitting happily on the school steps. She remembered the very day she and him were accepted into Hartman University. It was always their dream to attend a big name school together.
She had tried calling Koga a few times before going to Sesshoumaru's to let the wolf know that she had rescheduled her date for tonight. Risa figured he would be happy now that she had the time to spend with her best friend on her actual birthday… but he just would not pick up the phone. This wasn't like him… Even he was mad at her before, Koga had been known to at least let the woman talk to him to sort out whatever conflict they had going on between them. It was seriously worrying her. Just as she was about to try calling again, the front door opened, Sesshoumaru emerged from behind it with a pleasant smirk on his face. She looked up and gave him a smile back, though it was out of nervousness.
"He-Hello Sesshoumaru…" She spoke softly.
"Evening my dear," He responded as he looked her up and down, loving Risa's outfit of choice. "Please come in."
Sesshoumaru stepped to the side to let Risa through before closing the door behind him. His amber gaze was trained on her form from her hair to her hourglass figure. Risa then turned to face him, feeling his eyes focused on her back.
"So what do you have planned for tonight?" She asked him.
"A simple dinner is all, nothing more nothing less." He responded.
Sesshoumaru then led the girl to the dining room where a lone table stood with two candles placed in the middle that brought a warm glow to the room. He pulled out a chair like a gentleman to let Risa sit and pushed her gently to the table. Suddenly, the tall man let his hands run through her hair before cupping her blushing red cheek and he leaned down to place a kiss on her forehead.
"This is rather early, but… Happy Birthday Risa." He whispered.
Risa remained silent. She wasn't expecting the random gestures of affection, and all the while she felt guilty. She wasn't supposed to be here with him. Risa didn't feel the same way. Sure he was a gorgeous man who was well off living in an extremely nice house, but did all of that really matter to her? Was he there when she was sick, bringing her medicine and her favorite soup? No, Koga did that.
Who was there to take her to prom when her date skipped out on her to take someone else? Koga of course. He even dumped his own date, just to make sure Risa was happy.
Who came to her rescue in elementary school when the boys hid her glasses and she couldn't see? It was none other than Koga, who went out of his way to help her find them. That's how they became friends in the first place.
"I… just don't want you to end up like those chicks that fall in love with some dream guy who turns out to be a nightmarish psycho…"
She remembered his words perfectly…
"I just want you to be happy and safe…
"Preferably w-"
"With him… Koga." Risa whispered out of the blue.
"Excuse me?"
Risa gasped as she realized what she had said aloud. Her emerald orbs snapped up to stare down irritated golden eyes slowly being surrounded by thin red streaks.
"A nightmarish psycho…" She thought, "It's as if Koga saw into the future." She slightly recoiled in fear, leaning away from his face as the two were now trapped in an awkward silence. Swallowing a lump stuck in her throat, the brunette pushed her glasses back on her nose before going to try and clean up the mess she made.
"I-I'm sorry… I didn't m-mean to upset you. Honest. I just have a lot on my mind right now…"
He huffed, "I can tell. Listen, Risa I don't know what that mongrel wolf had told you before, but you're better off forgetting about him. Especially now that we're mates."
And there was that word again. Risa's own blood was starting to boil. She scrunched her brows together and glared at him.
"First off, we're not mates! We're merely on a date to see if I can see myself with you and because you practically begged me to give you a second chance!" Risa then stood from her seat, her glare still going strong. "Second, Koga is my best friend! You can't just expect me to just… just… FORGET him! You don't control me, and I refuse to give you that chance by going out with you. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to find my actual… mate." After she finished her rant, Risa turned on two heels to go toward the front door. She had plans on visiting Koga for herself. She wanted to tell him that he was right all along; wanted to throw her arms around him and let that big lug know that it was him she needs in her life forever and always.
But she wouldn't get that chance…
Suddenly, Risa saw a flash of white speed past her. She turned around frantically to see where it had come from and she bumped into the broad chest of none other than her 'date' from behind. The woman jumped with surprise, wondering how he appeared in front of her so fast.
He was looking down at her, the red streaks in his eyes almost taking over his entire vision. His arms were folded angrily over his chest and the large man's body blocked Risa's only means of immediate escape.
"Please stay… I do insist" He said ominously as he stepped toward here
…
Inside the basement below local nightclub Skins, Koga paces the floor as he tries to figure out a way out his situation. He couldn't stay here for another day; he had to get to Risa before Sesshoumaru did. Thank goodness their date wasn't until Saturday. Looking up at Rin, he stroked his chin in thought.
"Hey Kyosuke."
She looked at him with her chocolate brown eyes filled with hopelessness. Rin felt so stupid trusting that woman. Of course Kagura wasn't going to let her go free, how naïve she must have sounded to the sorceress. "What…?" Rin finally responded.
"You said you were going through some changes after that bastard put some of that Angel's Blood crap or whatever in your body?"
"Y-Yea… Why?"
"Well do you think one of those changes could be strength? Think about it, Sesshoumaru only prepared your chains to restrain a human, not a demon like me. Try breaking your shackles."
Rin hummed in thought before nodding her head in compliance. She supposed it could work. Rin then began tugging at her chains, grunting as she strained to break the strong metals holding her to the wall. On the sidelines, Koga cheered her on as he noticed one chain link begin to bend and pop open.
"That's it! It's workin'! Give it your all kid!"
Within a matter of minutes, Rin was able to break through her chains, and she fell to the stone floor with a small plop, landing on her hands and knees. She tore away the cuffs around her wrists and went to work searching the floor for a key of some sort to get Koga out of his chains, but her search was suddenly interrupted by the sound of the basement door opening. She sat up straight almost out of reflex and snapped her head in the direction of the sound of pattering feet coming toward their cell. In the blink of an eye, the small imp, Jaken came into blue in a frenzy still holding Kagura's phone. The imp's yellow slits for eyes looked around inside the cell to see that both Rin and Koga were still inside.
"Well at least you two are still here. Hopefully milord won't be too upset with me for letting that witch escape."
Koga huffed as he walked over to the cage door. He grabbed at the small demon by the shirt and shook him furiously.
"Do you have the key to my chains?! I know ya do so cough 'em up toad!"
"U-Unhand me to filthy wolf!" Jaken cried as he used his staff to swat at Koga's hand. Jaken fell to the floor on his head after the bigger demon let go and let out a cry of pain. "Gah! This is unacceptable. Lord Sesshoumaru best be glad that I owe a favor to his father to look after him otherwise I would have quit this terrible job. And for your information prisoner, I don't have your precious key. That would be with Sesshoumaru." Jaken then looked at Kagura's phone before turning away from the cell. "Which reminds me I have to call milord and tell him of the emergency!"
The toad fiddled with the phone before finally dialing the number, leaving Koga and Rin to whisper among themselves. Koga came up to Rin leaning so his lips were against her ear.
"Listen, obviously I can't go anywhere without that key, but you can still escape." Koga started.
"I don't want to leave you Koga… You've got to save your friend."
"Well if you want to save us both, you'll have to follow my instructions. As I was saying, I'm pretty sure you can bust open those bars to the cell. All you have to do is make sure you get away from Jaken. Once outside, I want you to go to this address." Koga then whispered to Rin Risa's address and told her how to get there from their current destination. "Pass on my message to Risa; she must stay away from Sesshoumaru. Can ya do that for me? I'll figure out a way out of here somehow."
Rin nodded her head in understanding before going to wrap her hands around the cell bars. They were substantially harder to bend – much less break – than the chains, but Rin gave it her all. Just as Rin was able to spread the bars apart wide enough for just her to slip through, Jaken cried out in a panic.
…
"Milord you must hurry one of the prisoners is escaping! Back in your cage you beast! Back I say! Ag-"
*click*
Sesshoumaru was fuming at this point. In fact his bright, honey-colored eyes were now pretty much engulfed in pools of crimson. How dare that Kagura betray him? What could Naraku want with Sesshoumaru's drug? He would have to settle that situation later, but for now, the bigger question on his mind was which prisoner escaped? Could it have been Koga? Or Rin? Both could have gone to the police and gave the authorities his address. Letting his normally well-kept composure crack slightly under the newfound pressure, Sesshoumaru turned his attention on the tied up and mouth covered Risa sitting on his bed. He would need a different place to stay other than his home, and certainly not the club. He cursed himself for not telling Jaken to make arrangements for a hotel room, but he couldn't dwell on the what-ifs for too long. He needed to escape. Sesshoumaru walked to the glaring Risa who was now screaming at him, though her cries her muffled, and picked her up to throw the woman over his shoulder. Quickly, he made his way to his car, taking care to make sure no eyes, especially Risa's nosy sister's eyes, were watching from above. Sesshoumaru threw the woman in the car before hopping into the driver's seat. Throwing the vehicle in gear he backed out and drove toward Skins; he had to at least check on which prisoner escaped. He moved his rearview mirror to look at Risa who was clearly in an uncomfortable position lying on his back seat. He blew a sinister kiss at the woman then focused his attention on the road.
"Worry not dear Risa, you'll grow to accept your new life…"
And there you have it folks that's the end of my story! Heh heh... more author's humor... anyway, of course this isn't the end but I'm getting pretty close to it. I think I'll do a sequel to this story too, but I'm not 100% sure yet. I'm probably 99% sure :3. Well as always thank you for reading my late update and keep on the lookout for my next installment of Next Door!
~With love, B-Rose.
