Chapter 4 – Being a kid

His eyes flutter open. He looks around as if he's trying to understand where he was.

"Hi" I whisper shyly

"Hi" he whispers back sleepily

"Are you okay?" I ask "Did you sleep well?"

"Yes. That was the best sleep I've got in a long time. What about you?"

"I'm very excited!" I answer while clapping my hands together and smiling really big

He laughs "Why?"

"Because!" I roll my eyes "Because we're going to have soooo much fun today!"

"We are?" he asks skeptically while trying to hold his smile

"Yes! I was thinking we could take blankets, pillows, books, toys, food, and the radio and spend the whole day in my back yard. What do you think?"

"That does seem awesome!" he answers with his cute boyish smile

"I know! We might have to come back here though to get all of the stuff because I don't think we can carry it all at once. "

"Pfft. No, we don't. I'm a big boy. I'm strong enough to carry everything at once!" he replies puffing his chest out.

I just roll my eyes at him. Boys!

"We can always just take one of those storage boxes that have wheels and stuff everything in there."

I put the pillows, blankets, books, toys, and the cereal boxes and milk cartoons in the box and grab the bowls and spoons.

"Well if you're as strong as you claim you can carry the box into the backyard all by yourself, no?"

"But of course!" he says while going to go get the box.

We make our way to the backyard me carrying just two cereal bowls and two spoons while he's carrying the box with all the other heavy stuff.

It's only fair as he said so smartly boys are stronger than girls. I just grin at that as I can see that he's clearly struggling at least a bit. Silly boy!

"You okay there?"

"Yeah, of course. Couldn't be better! " he says, trying to look tough.

"Come on then. It's just a bit longer. I know just the right place for us to camp for the day!" I tell him. "Here we are! Isn't it just perfect?"

He looks around inspecting everything from the grass with all the pretty little blue, white and pink flowers to the big old oak that's casting a shadow over the perfect spot to make a super cozy nest for the two of us to spend the day.

"It's perfect." He says

"Come on then. Let's spread the blankets and pillows on the ground so that we can sit." I say while grabbing one of the blankets and start building our little "nest".

After that I inspect our creation and it's just the coziest thing ever! I just jump on it.

"It's soooooo comfy! Come here!" I say while grabbing his hand and pulling him down.

He huffs as he lands on the floor. Oops! After he gets comfortable enough he says "It is comfy!"

"Are you hungry?"

"Yeah, a little bit. All this carrying heavy stuff kind of got me a bit hungry" he answers showing his shy self

"That's great! I organized a stash of cereals for you to choose the one you like better. Look" I say while pointing to the box that's now open where there are at least 6 different cereal boxes, 2 bowls, two gallons of milk and spoons, of course.

His eyes go wide as he takes in the gigantic amount of food for just the two of us.

"Why is there so much stuff? Is there anybody else going to eat with us? " he asks looking confused between me and the food mountain.

"No, no. Well…you see I didn't know which cereals you liked the best so I just brought every cereal box I could grab from the kitchen. I mean I assumed you liked cereals but.. you probably don't even like cereals!"

I face palm myself as I start to get up to go and get something else for him to eat while mumbling to myself "Stupid, stupid Bella. He probably doesn't even like cereals. I mean why would he? Stupid…"

"Hey, hey!" he says grabbing my hand to prevent me of getting up "Calm down. Of course I like cereals. I actually love cereals. Cheerios are my favorite!" he says grinning at me.

"That's awesome! Cheerios are actually my favorite as well." I reply grinning at him. "Well, let's eat then!"

We talk a bit of what we're going to do today as we eat. When we finish eating he ends up with a milk moustache. He looks so cute with it that I just start giggling like a mad person.

"What is it?" he asks while grinning at me.

I get up and run to the storage box to grab the camera I remembered to bring and snap a picture of him with his milk moustache looking a bit like grandpa actually.

He pouts a bit as he realizes I was laughing at him.

"Can I take a picture with you, my newest and bestest friend ever?" I ask as he goes to wipe off his but I stop him. "Moustache and all friend-o"

He looks at me like I'm crazy. Well maybe I am a little bit crazy but not much. I think.

"Pretty, pretty, pretty please?" I ask with my cutest face ever.

"Fine." He says trying to look upset but being unable to suppress his smile.

"Yay!"

I scoot close to him, grab the camera and just as the camera goes off I kiss his cheek.

"Sorry." I say while looking down and blushing like crazy.

He takes the camera from my hand and taps my shoulder for me to look up.

"The picture's cute!" He says smiling so big it might just rip his face, his dimples showing. "Even though Mr. Snuggles is just standing there in the corner of the pic peeking at us

"You have dimples!" I say while pointing to said dimples on his cheeks. "That's so cute!"

"It is?" He asks with a weird face on. I nod. He mumbles something about how weird girls are. As if!

"I'm keeping this picture forever!" I say holding it close to me.

The rest of the day passes much in the same fashion with us playing around, eating Maggie's delicious snacks, listening to the radio and even some twirling around on my part. I don't remember ever having this much fun. Ever! Mommy always makes do boring grown-up stuff and so I never get to just play around the whole day. I'm really, really happy Edward came home with us! And I make sure to tell him so.

"Me too!" he says smiling shyly at me.

I notice he's smiling a lot more since coming home with us. I like that. I really like that.

"Kids! It's time to come inside. Maggie's almost finished making dinner so you have to bring everything inside, wash your hands and go to the table. Ok?"

"Yes daddy! We're coming!" I answer him

"Do you need help bringing everything inside?"

I look questioningly at Edward. He shrugs. I guess it will be faster if Daddy helps us and seeing as I'm starving…

"Sure! Thanks daddy!"

Daddy helps us bring the storage box back to my room. Before leaving though he reminds us to wash our hands before joining mommy and daddy at the dinner table.

"Yes daddy." I say rolling my eyes at him.

I grab Edward's hand and lead him to the bathroom. I grab my bench so that I can reach the sink because I'm too short and that's when I notice Edward.

"OMG!" I say gasping at him.

"What? What is it? Is there something wrong?" he asks looking around alarmed.

"You can reach the sink by yourself; you don't need a bench or anything like that! That's so unfair!" I explain

I can see him visibly relax and then he smiles broadly. " I told you I was a big boy!"

I roll my eyes at him.

"Why do you keep rolling your eyes at me?"

"Because you're silly! Duh!" I say, yet again rolling my eyes at him. That's obvious.

"I'm the silly one? Me? I'll show you silly!" he says while splashing me with water from the tap.

"Oh no, you didn't!" I say looking at him threateningly and splash him as well.

As he's taller than me so he can get to the water more easily so I just run around the bathroom with him chasing me and me trying to dodge the water he's throwing my way.

"No! Stop it! You're getting me all wet!"

I say when he finally catches me.

"Not until you admit I'm not silly!" he says laughing at me

"But you are silly! And I was always taught not to tell lies!" I tell him laughing even harder. He starts tickling me

"No, no! Stop it! Please- Stop it!" I beg him in between gasps

"Admit I'm not silly!"

"Never!"

"Say it or I'll never stop tickling you!"

"Fine! Fine! You're not silly. At all!"

"That's better!" He says finally letting me go.

"Haha! I was lying! You are the silliest person I've ever met!" I say while running out of the bathroom laughing like crazy and stopping in the dining room where mommy and daddy are already sitting.

"Am not!" Edward shouts as he comes chasing me. He stops when he gets to the dining room and sees mommy horrified and daddy with an amused look on his face. I mean we just ran into the dining room all disheveled and dripping water all over the place.

"Oh-oh." I think we're in trouble!
