Chapter 6 gives more information on how they escape the city, kind of boring but stay with me I'm trying to figure out where this story is going.
'The Common Boy'
'The escape'
Gary told me to get all my important things into a bag and get ready to leave, I walked into my room and placed the bag Gary gave me on my bed, I grab all my clothes and stuff them into it. There was still quite a bit of room in the bag, I looked around my room to see what I had that I could bring with me. I picked up my containers of ink and placed them into the chest at the end of my bed, I closed the lid and saw something written on the top in glowing letters, it said, 'size is interchangeable.'
A thought entered my head and I slowly traced the letters across the top and pushed energy into the words, while at the same time imagining the box shrinking until it became small enough to fit into the bag. I opened my eyes and saw a chest exactly like the old one but much smaller, I picked it up and placed it into the bag.
I throw the bag over my shoulder and headed out into the living room, Beka and Gary were waiting for me standing by the door. They had their bags ready and were talking quietly, I saw tears in Beka's eyes and new that she didn't want to leave. I stood a few feet away from them trying not to think too hard about what happened before I passed out.
Alanna came through the door and said, "The wagon is ready, we should get going." We followed her out the door and to a carriage that looked like it was meant for the royal family. Numair stepped out of the back and gestured for us to enter, as we did he said, "Your highness these are the people I was telling you about," I stepped into the carriage and saw a person wearing a royal blue cloak. The person removed their hood and revealed their face, it was the princess, Matilda, she was about as old as me and looked like she had been crying.
I walked over to her and sat down at her side, I asked, "are you alright?" she looked at me and said, "My parents, and my Grandparents were killed yesterday, how do you think I feel?" I felt an ache in my heart looked down at my feet and said, "Probably the same way I've felt for the last few years." She looks at me and asked, "What do you mean." Beka and Gary sat down across from us with Alanna and Numair sat down next to me. George was disguised in a royal guard's uniform in the front guiding the horses.
There was a jolt and the feel of motion, I said, "My parents died in a fire years ago and I was taken to another country far away, so I know what it feels like to lose everything." The princess reached out and grabbed my hand not saying anything just excepting the comfort of someone who understood what was going on with her. I squeezed her hand, giving her comfort and seeking some at the same time.
We went down many streets heading toward one of the side entrances to the city so that our exit would be less suspicious. Matilda fell asleep an hour ago resting her head on my shoulder, Beka was laying down on the bench asleep, Gary had moved up and sat next to George to converse with him. Numair was sitting quietly by my side listening, I think. Alanna was sitting by the back flap looking out, making sure we weren't being followed.
I heard Gary whisper, "We've come upon the eastern gate, hide you're faces." His head disappeared back out its flap; Alanna sat up and pulled her cloaks hood closer around her face. Numair cast a spell that would cause anyone who saw his face to forget it again, I wrapped my cloaked around the princess, hiding her from view and closed the hood around my face.
I heard George talking to someone, probably a guard, the man yelled for someone to search the cab, a female guard pulled open the flap and looked at each of us, her gaze stopped on my, she stared for a little while, like she was trying to remember something. She walked away and loudly said, "All Clear." I heard the clanking of a gate opening, and then the carriage jolted into motion again. I listened as the gate closed behind us and finally allowed myself to drift into sleep.
I woke up to Gary shaking me; I sat up and realized that I was lying on the ground in a pallet next to a fire. The princess was sleeping in one next to me I looked up at Gary and asked, "Is something wrong?" he smiled and shook his head no, he said, "would you wake up the princess, the horses are loaded and we need you guys awake because it's had to ride horses in your sleep." I reach over and touched Matilda's shoulder and whispered, "Wake up princess, It's time to go."
Chapter 6 finished I hope it wasn't too boring will continue soon.
