Okay here's the next chapter hope you like.
'The Common boy'
Settling
We walked into the headquarters and saw a large muscular man sitting at a desk writing on a piece of paper. George said, "Dom? Is that you? Where's Kel?" The man, Dom, looked up and said, Kel's off giving her report to Sir Wyldon, leaving me to do all the paper work, who's aski…" He finally realizes who he's talking to, he stands up and throws his arms around George. He had a slightly confused and happy look on his face, He said, "This explains why your children showed up here yesterday." They clapped each other on the back and then they separated, "what brings you here?"
Gary looked down and said, "The king, his son, and his daughters were all murdered by the king's cousin, Galtorix. We were marked as traitors, this was the only safe Haven we had left to go to so that we could hide and regain our strength." Dom looked up and surveyed the rest of us, he hugged Alanna like he did to George, and shook Gary's hand he nodded to Beka and Fred, then he turned to me and Matilda. He said, "It was nice to see all of you again, even you Numair," who he had just realized was standing behind me, everyone chuckled, some kind of inside joke. "Now tell me, who are these little ones?" He approached us, Matilda backed up and half hides behind me, I said, "My name is David, and this is Matilda." She gave a small curtsy and stepped out from behind me a little she said, "It's nice to meet you."
Dom stared at me for a moment then took a closer look at Matilda, shock was prominent on his face, he turned around and said, "Now I understand why you came here, you have two children who need protection, one of them being a princess." Dom added, "The barracks are full, so you will have to build your own, when that is done there will be other things you will be asked to do, and Numair NO MAGIC." Numair said, "The only magic that will be done is what my apprentices will do." Dom asked in a worried tone, "Apprentices?" Numair nodded toward use and said, "The children, the boy is powerful, I plan to teach him to control that power, while the girl has the potential for magic, small things, but she still should learn." Dom sighed with relief when he heard this and said, "Well then, I'll get some men to fetch the wood and the tools for…" Gary interrupted him by saying, "You said that we would have to build this place, right? So let us choose our lumber and tools." Dom nodded and said, "If that is what you wish." Gary said, "It is."
Gary told the others that we would get the wood, while they chose tools. He told me to follow him, I followed him out to the forest on the other side of the river and we spent the next eight hours picking out trees and I used magic to uproot them. Then we went around starting to collect the trees, I asked Gary, "Can I carry the trees back to the camp, it would take to many people otherwise." He nodded and I place all the trees in a huge pile and bound them with magic, then I lifted them into the air and we walked back to camp, the mound of trees flying ahead of us. We were walking through the gate as the trees settled next to our allotted building area. Dom didn't say anything about me using magic to get the trees over the wall, because it saved his people time and effort that they could use on other things.
We worked for two weeks chopping wood and arranging it so that it made a suitable shelter, when it was complete we were given one day of rest because we had worked so hard. Beka and Gary were talking to another family, and George was teaching a group of kids a new game. Alanna was talking to Dom, probably about the defense of the fort and training. Numair was talking to Matilda about her magical potential, and Fred walked up to me he said, "I found a forge, if you want we can start your training back up." I smiled and said, "I would love to." He led me to the back of the fort and into a smithy, there were five forges and one smith, Fred asked, "May we use one of your forges for this young man's training?" the smith looked at me and said, "as long as you don't break my tools." We both nodded and set about our work.
Five days past and a routine was set, We woke up and ate breakfast, then me and Matilda followed Numair to a small cave and practiced various forms of magic, after that we went to eat lunch, then Matilda went to work with Beka and I went to work with Fred. I missed dinner most days returning after making new weapons or repairing broken ones, the smith made sure to leave the hardest works for me, training he called it. Matilda was upset that we could only spend time together in the morning, but quickly changed her mind when Beka started giving here work that she enjoyed, 'sewing', he was making and repairing clothes for the residents of the fort, nearly as busy as I was.
Sunday came along, the rest day, and we were all sitting together eating a midday snack when there was a horn call, someone said, "Kel is back." The gates opened and a knight wearing armor and astride a large horse rode in followed by a large group of men, more than half were being carried by the other half. Numair touched my shoulder and said, "You two need to come with me." He led us to a large tent with a large amount of empty beds, the beds slowly filled with wounded soldiers. The last people to be brought in were in terrible shape, one looked like he was wearing a commanders uniform, but it was covered in so much blood that I wasn't sure, the other man looked like a prisoner but the way the men treated him they thought of him with high regards.
The knight that rode in first walked in and said, "Numair, I know it's a lot ask but could you help heal these people?" Numair nodded and said, "Me and my apprentices will do our best." Matilda looked like she would be sick, I grabbed her hand and whispered, "can you get a bucket of water and some rags, and start working on the ones who are wounded the least?" she nodded I kissed her check, causing color to erupt in them and let go of her hand. I walked over to the one in the commanders outfit and started healing his worst wound, I healed it until it sealed and I knew that it wouldn't kill him in the next hour the turned to the other man next to him. I healed some of his major wounds then went back to the commander; I spent more time on the other man then on the commander because the other man's wounds were worse. The commander became conscious as I sealed up one of his wounds and fixed three of his ribs, The pain had jolted him awake, he said, "heal him first, he saved my life." I said, "I'm doing the best I can, I've healed both of your worst wounds but I'm getting tired. When you came in you were both on the brink of death, now you can live for a week without any healing, but I'll come back tomorrow and finish up, you'll be able to leave after tomorrow and so will this man," I gestured to the other man and continued, "But for today I need something to eat and some rest." I sat down next to Matilda at the dinner table, they had both left hours before I did, she looked at me in a slight daze and saw my exhaustion, she asked, "Are you okay? You look like you were running all day." I smiled and said, "It feels like it to."
Numair looked at me and said, "I should have stopped you," I shook my head and said, "I didn't tap into my true powers, I just scraped the surface, that's why I'm so drained." That shocked him he had seen me use more power than he had, and I was still pouring power into those men when he left, 'No wonder Alanna had been so adamant about getting him out of there,' he thought. He said, "well try not to drain yourself tomorrow, you only get the three hours that I'm allowed to train you to heal, then you get lunch and then weapons training with Lord Wyldon, depending on if you heal him enough to stand tomorrow." I looked at him and asked, "So the big man in the commander's uniform is Lord Wyldon?" he nodded and said, "Everyone was worried that he wouldn't survive, but the moment I saw you healing him I knew he would be fine."
Continues to next chapter, it will be called Training.
