Chapter 22: When Will Alone is not enough

The stars glistened in the sky above Sunagakure unaware of two unwanted guests, Gaara now the 5th Kazekage stood atop the administration office staring down with hand covering his left eye socket when suddenly some sand materialized to form his eye and it showed him what was coming. "So they've finally decided to show up." Gaara said to himself as he used his sand to surf towards his targets. Meanwhile, Deidara and Sasori pretty much snuck into the village with little resistance the bulk of it coming from Kankuro who Sasori ended up poisoning in an epic clash of puppet masters.
Deidara on the other hand, had come across Gaara and stared him down with an arrogant smirk on his face. "So you're Gaara the one-tail jinchuriki are you not?" He asked the wind shadow.
"I am and now prepare to enter your grave; sand coffin." Gaara answered before throwing a large amount of sand at his enemy capturing him with intent to crush him only to find an explosive clay clone in its place.
"Nice try kid but you'll have to do better than that hm." Deidara said brandishing a kunai from behind only to have it blocked by Gaara's sand wall. "So that's your ultimate defense not bad, but my art will leave you in pieces." Deidara said as he unleashed dozens of clay spiders only for Gaara to repel them with his sand, seeing as how this was going nowhere for Deidara, he decided to take off using his clay bird but Gaara was in hot pursuit riding on a cloud of green tinted sand.
"Geez this kid doesn't know when to stop." Deidara said to himself as Gaara's sand continued to come after him, Deidara continued to dodge left, right, up ,down, in front of him, and so forth until finally he took himself upward releasing a huge amount of clay planning to take the whole village out.
"Now witness as I show you that art is a blast!" Deidara said as he dropped his clay bomb.
"No, I won't let you Sky sand defensive wall!" Gaara called out combining his sand with his willpower until it canopied the village saving the citizens and other ninja from the explosion, however it took a lot of focus to maintain the barrier until Gaara was sure the explosion subsided; he then created a construct of Shukaku's head using both his sand and his lantern ring. "Ninja art: Giant sand burial!" He shouted as the giant Tanuki head devoured Deidara causing him to fall back down to the ground. "It's over for you Akatsuki prepare for your demise." Gaara said pointing his ring at Deidara unaware of the sinister gleam in Deidara's eye.
"I beg to differ hmm..." Deidara said as Gaara soon started hearing a sizzling sound until his gourd exploded knocking him out. Little did Gaara know that when he had Deidara trapped in his giant sand burial, Deidara had placed small chunks of detonating clay among the thousands of grains of sand so that when the sand retreated into the gourd all he add to do was release some of his chakra and then the clay would explode turning the gourd into a fragmentation grenade, crude but effective. "Sometimes it's the smallest things in life that can take you down kid." Deidara said as he grabbed Gaara's body and headed back to Sasori. Unfortunately, Deidara forgot one important fact; the ring that had been on Gaara's ring finger was glowing before slipping off Gaara's finger and flying to locate the nearest Green Lantern ring to call for help. Luckily for the ring there was one other Green Lantern in the ninja world, Rock Lee of the leaf.
Speaking of Rock Lee, the bushy browed lantern ninja was currently training in his usual ridiculous over the top manner this time using his ring to create various other constructs ranging from; nun chucks, Jo staffs, Sais, clubs, etc when suddenly he felt something hit him in the back of the head.
"Ouch who threw that?" He asked looking down to find another green ring which to him was rather suspicious. "Now what would you be doing here?" He asked as it played the battle it had recorded on itself to explain what had happened shocking Lee; "Oh no! I've got to inform Naruto about this." He said to himself as he dashed off to Naruto's home once again using the emergency version of the dynamic entry kick this time through the window when he got there.
"Lee how many times have I asked you not to do that to my house?" Naruto asked.
"My apologies Naruto but we've got a problem." Lee said.
"What is it?" Naruto asked.
"It's Gaara the Akatsuki got him." Lee answered shocking Naruto as he showed the Blue Lantern Gaara's ring and displayed the battle between Gaara and Deidara. Naruto frowned seriously as he stared at Lee with a nod the two rushed out to get the other members of their little group unfortunately Hinata was on a mission with her team and wasn't due back for a few more days. So the duo reported to Tsunade what they found out from Gaara's ring showing the battle to the Hokage, who in turn then called the rest of their teams in.
"Alright team's Gai and Kakashi this is a joint S-rank mission, your objective is to report to Suna, find out what happened, track down the Akatsuki, and save Gaara before it's too late good luck you guys." Tsunade said as the teams nodded and ran out of the gates as fast as they could.
Once they left Tsunade sent out a messenger hawk to send an alert to Hinata and her team to get to Suna to meet up with Naruto and the other lantern ninja ASAP. Meanwhile Deidara and Sasori were making their way back to their hideout with their prize unfortunately for Sasori he had to deal with Deidara's whining why? They were going back on foot.
"So remind me again why we're on foot Sasori huh?" Deidara asked.
"Because you blast happy nutcase it would draw attention if we went by means of your little clay pigeon plus with the bounties on our heads, what do you think will happen." Sasori said reminding the blonde bomb nut about their status as renegade ninjas.
"Okay okay, I get it sheesh." Deidara said in exasperation as the two continued on their trek.
A/N: That's all I could come up with sorry about the near 7 month wait folks but I've been having a tough time trying to figure out how to continue this story and with the majority of my other stories getting taken down whether it's done by me or the site administrators.
