Chapter 7

He got up from his bed and took the letter from his owl. He gave it a snack and opened the letter from Katherine. 'She wants to see me, but what about Primrose? Merlin, this is weird. I should go and meet Katherine. We have been talking to each other for about a month and I haven't met her yet…It's crazy!' He wanted to surprise her, so he didn't write her back. 'Women.'

The next morning, Malfoy walked with Crabbe and Goyle to breakfast. Deep down, he was thinking about tonight's meeting with his mystery girl. She was driving him insane with curiosity. He thought about the possibility that she gave him a false name, but dismissed it 'She couldn't have. I don't think she would lie to me.' He slightly shook his head to himself and sat down with his friends and ate breakfast.

Prim was nervous; she might meet Max and be either glad or gravely disappointed. She knew that he's in her year, he wasn't on good terms with his father and he's a Slytherin. 'I remember very bright hair and blue eyes.' She reminisced her dance with him. 'And not to mention tall, handsome (well, despite the mask) and kind.' She told her friends about her request to meet Max. Harry and Ron objected and were trying to convince Prim to forget about it and not to meet Max. Hermione, to Ron's displeasure, urged her to see him and talk to him. Ginny agreed and wanted to accompany Prim, but she wanted to meet him alone.

They entered the Great hall and sat at the Slytherin table. His eyes wandered unexpectedly to the Gryffindors table. 'Scarhead, Weasel, Mudblood…' He scanned them with his eyes until they landed on Primrose. He saw her laughing at something Neville said to her 'What the hell is she doing with Longbottom? She can do better.' *With you?*Draco scoffed to himself. 'Don't be ridiculous. She's a Gryffindor and a blood traitor.' *But you've got to admit she's beautiful* 'You're insane.' Draco disconnected his thoughts about her and resumed eating. *You have Katherine. You've got to find out who she really is. Apparently she's not a Hufflepuff either.*Draco asked several students about her and they said they didn't know a 'Katherine'. He decided he was going to ask Hayward.

Chloe walked out from the Great hall after a wonderful breakfast. She heard someone whisper her last name. "What, Malfoy?" She turned to see Draco behind her.

"I have a question for you. Do you know someone named 'Katherine'?" Chloe scoffed and crossed her arms on her chest defensively

"No. Why?" She asked curiously.

"I saw you dragging her away out from the Halloween Ball." Chloe thought about this and gasped.

"I have to go!" Chloe ran before Draco can call after her.

"Shit!" Draco kicked one of the walls. 'She's a Gryffindor! She'll know who I am and won't talk to me. I'll just have to wait and see.'

Chloe ran frantically to the Divination's class, and opened the door.

"Professor Trelawney, I need Primrose for a moment. A family issue." She panted and looked disheveled. Chloe had to give her an excuse. Trelawney nodded and let Prim leave. Prim walked over to the door and walked out of the classroom, closing the door after them.

"What is it?" Prim asked in a quiet voice.

"Remember when you said that Max is a Slytherin?" Prim nodded.

Chloe paused for a moment. "I think it's Malfoy."

Prim laughed hard. "You can't be serious! Why do you think it's him?" Chloe told Prim about her quick conversation with him. Prim didn't want Trelawney to suspect, so she told her cousin that they'll talk about it at lunch. She came back to class, and Ginny, who sat next to her, noticed that Prim was concentrated in something else. Prim saw her friend's worried look, and she wrote on a piece of parchment what happened. After Ginny read it, her eyes widened like saucers. She wrote back on the parchment 'What are you going to do?' and slid it back to Prim's direction. Prim looked back at the Professor, just in case Trelawney was looking, and looked back at the parchment.

She caught Ginny's eye and mouthed "I'll go anyway."

At the feast, Prim couldn't stop thinking about "Max"; she wondered if it was really Draco or someone else. She couldn't eat. She glanced at the Slytherin table and saw that he wasn't there. She took one bite of chicken and left the Hall. She stood by the ghoul statue and waited for him.

He told Crabbe and Goyle to go to the feast without him. His ran his fingers through his hair nervously. "What's wrong with you? Get a grip." He muttered to himself and abruptly left the common room to meet Katherine.

Prim licked her lips nervously. She leaned on the statue and sighed. She closed her eyes but was suddenly startled when someone whispered in her ear "Why aren't you at the feast?"

Prim opened her eyes and gasped "Draco! Don't scare me like that again!" Draco snickered.

"Sorry. What are you doing here?" Prim folded her arms on her chest and answered "If you must know, I'm meeting someone here."

"Oh really? Who's the poor guy?"

Prim rolled her eyes "Someone I met at the Halloween Ball. A guy named Max."

Draco blinked "What? You're Katherine?"

Prim was surprised "How did you-?"

"That was my pseudo name." Draco cut her off as he pulled out letters from his pocket.

Prim opened the letters and gasped "You're Max? It's not possible."

"Believe me; I'm having a hard time believing this, too. Fuck. You lied to me." Draco said coldly.

Prim scoffed "Well, it's not like you told the truth either."

"What's that supposed to mean?" He asked, agitated.

"About your father, your ambitions, those were probably lies." She said disbelievingly.

Draco shook his head "I was honest in my letters! I told you the truth. Why didn't you tell me your real name?"

"The same reason you didn't. You loved the mystery, the excitement. Hell, you probably even loved being someone you aren't."

Draco was now dangerously close to her. "I wasn't somebody else. I changed my name so you wouldn't judge me for my reputation, for my name. And you didn't want to be judged, either." Tears were threatening to fall down Prim's eyes.

"I wasn't somebody else, either. I guess you're right about the judging issue." She slightly pushed Draco away from her and walked to the staircase.

After a pause, Draco asked "Just for the record, why Katherine?"

Prim looked back at him and answered "That's my mother's name. I thought you knew that." They shared another look and she went up the staircase.
