Chapter 8

Draco was furious with her because she had done the same thing he had done- lie. He never expected her to lie and didn't know if she could be trusted, or if he could confide in her. All that he knew was that he couldn't talk to her for the time being.

Prim told her friends about her meeting with 'Max'; now Draco. "I told you I had a hunch!" Chloe said angrily.

Hermione sat down on a chair in the common room as she said "I can't believe it. He was the last person I'd expected to be Max. He sounded so charming in the letters; and to think everything was a sham."

"Listen to this; the idiot's actually mad at me because I lied to him! I shouldn't have danced with him at that party." Prim said as she sat down and held her head in her hands.

"Don't blame yourself, you didn't know it was him." Ginny said as she tried to calm er down.

"He's a hypocrite, but you are too." Ron said quietly.

"I beg your pardon?" Prim asked snidely.

"You lied too, Prim. You can stay mad at him. I don't like the guy but he has every right to be mad at you."

Prim's expression softened and she sighed "You're probably right, as usual."

Whenever she spotted Draco, she would ignore him and keep on walking. During classes, she would fight the urge to look at his direction and to see if he was looking at her as well. They barely knew each other, but it bothered her. Deep down, she missed him picking on her or just talking to her. On the other hand, she didn't know if she could trust him at all.

He noticed she was trying to avoid him. He knew she felt uncomfortable around him. That was the thing; he could have any girl he wanted, but there was something about Prim that attracted him. To him, she was never ugly, as he used to call her. But he had to admit, she was stunning at the Halloween Ball. She talked back, had witty comments, and didn't care what others said about her. He didn't bother to tell Crabbe and Goyle about his conversations with her; they were dumber than a bag of rocks. He caught her looking at him during Potions class and she slightly flushed. This situation was driving him crazy; this was a challenge for him. She was a challenge.

A few weeks have passed and it was the day before their Valentine's Day trip to Hogsmeade. They were sitting at the Great Hall, eating dinner after a long day of classes. Hermione and Ginny were telling Chloe and Prim about their plans for tomorrow.

Prim smiled at them and said "That's great.", and took a bite from her dinner.

Chloe giggled and whispered in her ear "He's looking at you. I guess he does like you after all." Prim looked at her cousin and snorted. When no one was looking, she looked at Draco; she wondered if he was going out with a girl tomorrow. They locked eyes. She looked deep into his icy blue eyes and saw pain. They broke their gaze and ate their dinner.

The next morning, the gang got ready for their trip. The Gryffindor house got gathered together in the common room and waited for McGonagall to collect them. They went down to the school entrance and got on carriages to Hogsmeade.

Ginny and Harry went to sit at a new café as Ron took Hermione to Madam Puddifoot's. Prim and Chloe were alone, so they decided to pay Prim's brother a visit. They entered 'The Three Broomsticks' and sat down by the bar.

A muscular young man with hazel eyes and black hair saw the girls and said "Hey Prim, Chloe! How's it going?" He grinned at them as he came closer to them.

"Derek!" Prim hugged her brother tightly.

"Prim, you're choking me!" His voice was muffled under her embrace.

She gasped and released him from her hug "I'm sorry! It's just that I missed you so much."

Derek gave her a warm smile "So have I." Derek and Chloe hugged.

"You don't have dates for your trip, huh?" Derek chuckled.

"Ha-ha-ha, very funny." Chloe stuck her tongue at her Derek.

"I finally found out who 'Max' was." Prim said.

Derek's eyebrows rose "How come you haven't told me yet?"

"I wanted to tell you in person."

"Well, you're lucky that I'm on my break, so talk." Prim told him about Draco and their fight.

"It was him?! Merlin, of all people…" Derek knew who Draco was; Derek graduated Hogwarts two years ago, and also knew about the Malfoy family.

"What are you going to do?" He asked her sincerely.

Prim shook her head "I don't know. It's been two months and I don't know if I should talk to him."

"Do you feel something for him?" Chloe asked her. Prim licked her lips; she tried to hide her feels for him, but she couldn't keep on hiding them.

"Yes. I think there's more to him than meets the eye." She finally confessed in a simple sentence what she had felt for Draco.

"I say you should set the record straight with him." Derek said. Derek's boss call out for him and that was the girls' sign to finish the conversation.

"I'll keep you posted!" Prim gave her brother a quick hug and left the pub with Chloe.

After that, they went shopping. I love shopping!" Chloe shouted in the village.

Prim laughed "I know you do, dear cousin, but how about we sit for a while?" They walked over to a bench and sat down.

Chloe pulled out her purse and shrieked "I forgot! I have coupons to that new store near the post office! Be right back!" She ran to the store's direction. Prim shook her head; her cousin had no limits when it came to shopping.

"Aren't you going to join her?"

Prim turned to see who was talking to her. "Draco."

"That's me." He snorted. There was a pause.

"Do you mind if I sit down?" He asked.

Prim shrugged and answered "It's a free country." Draco sat beside her.

Both of them started to talk at the same time "So, why are-"

"Are you alo-" They stopped at the same time. They chuckled.

"You go ahead." Prim insisted.

"Why are you alone? I thought you'd go with Longbottom."

"No, he took Luna out to lunch." Prim chuckled. Silence.

"Are you alone?" Prim asked.

Draco shrugged "Not really, I mean, Crabbe and Goyle went to munch in Honeydukes." A pause.

"I knew it's been a while since we've last spoken to each other. I wanted to apologize for lying and being a jerk." Draco said.

Prim cleared her throat before saying "I'm sorry, too, for lying, for shouting at you, everything."

"You know what? I take that back; I'm not sorry about everything. I'm not sorry about dancing with you, about sharing my deepest thoughts with you." Draco confessed. Prim was quiet.

He went on "Ever since our detention, I felt something for you. I knew you were different from your friends. I never picked on that sodding Hufflepuff after you told me off. In fact, I haven't picked on anyone since then. You amaze me with your honesty and kindness. I want you to go out with me on a date. Just give it a shot." Prim stared at him, surprised.

Draco let out an airy laugh and continued "I know this is really out of character, but you have an effect on me."

Prim didn't know what do to; one of the well known students in Hogwarts was confessing his feelings for her. She never knew he had liked her in that way, nor had she had a hunch. If she were to go out with him, her friends would be disappointed in her. On the other hand, she wouldn't let her friends dictate who to go out with or not.

Prim looked at him and said in a voice a little above a whisper "I don't know if I could trust you." Draco was a bit hurt, but knew this would happen.

Draco let out his hand and said "Please to meet you, I'm Draco Malfoy." Prim knew where this was going; he wanted to imply that they would start off with a clean slate. She smiled and shook his hand "Primrose Hill."

Draco went to buy Prim a cup of coffee. As he returned, he handed her the cup and sat down. "Where's your cousin? Why hasn't she come back yet?" Draco asked.

"Well, she could get lost in shops." They shared a laugh.

After that, he asked "What do you say, about what I said earlier?"

Prim came closer to his ear and whispered "I say yes.", which made him shiver slightly. He turned his head to face her. They were nose to nose. He looked down at her lips and his hands went up to the nape of her neck. She closed her eyes as he pulled her to him and kissed her.
