I could feel Applejack boring holes in my back, as I lead Jack Frost towards my house with my gang behind me. The awkward tension was broken by Rainbow Dash, naturally.
"So, you were some kind of a flying big shot where you came from, right?" She asked Jack with a cocky tone. She had now started to fly in circles around us, her lovely rainbow-coloured hair flapping through the wind. Why do you have to show off now, Rainbow Dash? I wondered.
"No a flying big shot, the flying big shot." Jack flashed a brash smile.
This won't turn out well.
"Prove it, Frosty." Rainbow Dash crossed her arms, hovering in front of Jack.
"I don't think you're ready for all of this." Jack signaled to all of himself.
"Ha! You're so scared that you won't even admit it!"
"Yup, I'm really scared of a little girl with rainbow hair."
"I'm not a little girl, you stupid Snowman!"
"I'm waiting for the Easter Bunny and all the unicorns to come out of your hair."
After this last snarky remark, Rainbow Dash grunted loudly and whooshed her way to the sky above us, knocking a couple of clouds on the way. We could all tell she was prepping for her Sonic Rainboom, except for Jack, who had now decided to join her above us.
Here it comes, I thought with worry, I can't stop them now.
With a loud blast, Rainbow Dash was flying at the speed of light towards us, with a dazzling rainbow behind her. Fluttershy let out a coy scream and we all flew out of the way as Jack flew behind her, trying to catch up. He had destroyed her Sonic Rainboom by smothering it with the myriad of ice crystals coming out of his staff.
"Think you're more awesome than me? Well, watch this!" Rainbow Dash headed back to where Jack was and flew violent circles around him, creating a tornado that threatened to engulf him.
"Rainbow Dash! That's enough- stop it!" I surprised myself by screaming out what everyone had been thinking at that moment.
"I can't- I'm GoiNg ToOo FaaaaSt!" Rainbow Dash shrieked back from inside the tornado.
My blood turned to thick ice as I imagined what would happen to Jack if he got hurt by the tornado Why did I even care about him, though? Why had I helped him in the first place? I thought I didn't care about what happened to him but when Princess Celestia condemned him for causing havoc with the crystal heart, I looked into his gray eyes and I knew. I knew that he was innocent, without even having to check his mind. I had to face it: there was some part of me that was inquisitive about him.
Suddenly, Jack let out a frustrating scream and the entire tornado revitalized with a startling blue forming in the middle of it. An exceeding power was pulsing from inside the tornado, trying to fight its way outside. Jack. Sharp snow crystals danced in cricles for a moment before the whole hurricane exploded in a staggering burst and both Jack and Rainbow Dash were sent back, headed for where Rarity, Applejack, Fluttershy and I were standing, paralyzed with fear.
"You guys must be the most dog-gone fellas I've ever met!" Applejack broke the silence that had perpetuated after Jack and Rainbow Dash's crash.
"A-are you both okay?" Fluttershy peeked from behind me to look at both of them. Anxiety illustrated her sweet, tender face. Rainbow Dash got up and dusted herself off. She flew towards Fluttershy and hugged her pink, downy head, screaming, "that was so awesome!'
Rarity rolled her eyes and turned to look at Jack's closed eyes, "my, that was simply amazing! Jack, you were so brave to have gone through all of that, " she crooned and crouched down to where he was lying. His eyes opened up(I was now starting to realize that it took him a long time to open his eyes) and observed my muddled face.
"I obviously won." Jack let out a laugh and stood himself up. Rainbow Dash scowled at this and started chuckling loudly.
"Guys, it doesn't matter who won- you were both almost killed! Let's start walking home with no disturbances now." I declared with an exasperating sigh at the end. Everyone agreed and walked forward to my house, with me leading in the front as I didn't want to talk to anyone. Of course, I was glad that both he and Rainbow Dash were safe. But when I looked back, all I could see was Jack having a grand old time with my friends. Well, Rarity was drooling after him and Rainbow Dash kept her distance, yet even so, he seemed to fit in like a missing puzzle piece.
While pieces of me were falling off, and each one had the appearance of my friends.
I don't belong here if he's here, I decided.
When we arrived at my house, I put my melancholy aside and told Spike to write down what I was going to say:
"Okay, so Jack Frost, I want to introduce you to the people that will reform you and bring you back home."
I pointed to Fluttershy and continued, "this is Fluttershy, she's a lovely person who enjoys the company of animals." She timidly uttered the word "hello."
I went over to Rainbow Dash, "you know her already-"
"-as the fastest, most awesome person you'll ever meet-" Ranbow Dash interrupted, puffing out her chest.
I ignored her and resumed, "-as a stubborn but loyal being."
Applejack took the liberty of introducing herself, "Howdy, I'm Applejack and you can come by my farm at any time, Jack- but don't do any of that snow business of yours."
Rarity proceeded to walk towards a very overwhelmed Jack, "I'm Rarity-but you call me whatever you like-I prefer the nickname 'beauty' though-and if you ever need anything, just come to me, darling." She overdid her elite accent throughout her whole invitation.
Suddenly, Spike stopped writing and stomped over to where Rarity was and sized Jack up. "I'm Spike and I'm very good friends with Rarity, so back off-"
I covered Spike's mouth and continued, "okay, well, you can sleep in the room beside me. Tomorrow, we'll begin the Reform-goodnight!" I pushed Jack towards the stairs that led the bedrooms upstairs.
"Wait- Twilight, you promise to get me back home right?" Jack turned to face me.
I hesitated at first. "Yes, Jack, I promise you- I never fail my friends."
I brought a genuine smile to my face and was glad that Jack wanted me to trust him. His shoulders relaxed and he flew to the second floor, turning back once again to look at me. I could feel the blood cursing through my veins for the third time in the room after he gazed at me like that. I shook my head and walked back downstairs.
"My little friends, it's night already- thank you so much for being with me though all of this!" I started a group hug and everyone joined in for good laughter.
"No problem, Twilight-we'd do anything to help you!" Applejack laughed out.
As I was sending everyone back to their cozy homes, as it was already nighttime, Rarity took me aside and whispered fervently, "Twilight, I need to ask you something very important- do you understand, my darling?"
I furrowed my eyebrows, "yes, Rarity- what is it?"
She bit her lip. "Well, I…have taken a fancy towards…Jack."
My heart stopped beating for a second, before composing itself again.
"Jack…Frost, right? N-not Jackie Shimmer across the street?" I stammered out.
"I mean Jack Frost, but…" Rarity twirled her violet curls, a sign that meant that she was distressed.
"But… what, Rarity?" I implored.
"But he likes you, Twilight."
Tell me in your reviews- should Rarity stop drooling over Jack or should she make the competition harder for Twilight to pursue him?
