I'm always stumped about what to write in the Author notes at the start of every chapter. Well, I'm still stumped. I should just start the chapter…

Last time, a team Warhawk member tried to steal Leo's egg. Leo battled him but failed. But then a boy named Joel battled the member and rescued the egg. And now, Leo and Sabrina are heading towards Alder's to give him his parcel.

Disclaimer: I do not own Pokémon in any way. Satoshi Tajiri and his team own it while I am just a fan of this franchisee and love to write about it…

However, I do own the plot and the OC's.

In addition, all the characters in this story are fictional and bear no resemblance to any human dead or alive!

Chapter 6: The Parcel and the Badge!

We both were walking towards Alder's home. I had met that gentle old man; but Sabrina hadn't, and she was too excited to see him. Here, I was a boy who didn't even knew who Alder was at first and here was Sabrina, who literary knew everything about him without even seeing him once.

After a short while, we were in front of his small house. I rung the bell and there came the man without making us wait a bit. With his big hair, his traditional robe-like thing and a pleasant smile on his face. He looked at me and said, "You are back! That's great! Did you…?"

"Yes, I brought the parcel," I replied.

"That's great! Come in!" He gestured for me to come in. Sabrina and I both entered the house.

"Who's this young lady with you?"

"She is my friend, Sabrina."

"Hello! So is she…?" He asked me.

"What?" I asked. He started nudging me and then I understood what he meant.

"No… No… You are wrong. Nothing like that!" I replied. Sabrina just looked towards us all confused.

"Hush… That's good for me…" Alder suddenly smiled with a smirk.

"Hey, what?" I asked him, a little freaked out by his behavior. Sabrina was still looking blankly at us.

"Uh… Nothing! So, where's the parcel?" He suddenly turned all serious.

"Yeah, I've got it. Here it is," I took out the parcel from my bag and showed him. He examined it a bit and then kept it aside.

"What? You aren't going to open the parcel?" I asked him.

"I am not in the mood. But the one thing I would like to check is your poke-egg!" He asked pointing towards the egg.

"The egg? Okay!" I handed him the egg as he examined it and gave a slight smile.

"It's in good condition! It can hatch in the coming days." He smiled again.

"Whoa! How did you guess that?" Sabrina suddenly jolted up.

"Experience, my dear, experience!" he replied.

"So where are you two heading now?" He asked us both.

"We are going to challenge the gym!" Sabrina said.

"Yeah, the Aspertia gym has opened up again and it will be great start to challenge it," I replied.

"Oh, that's good. But what about your Pokémon?"

"Well, I caught a Riolu at the ranch and Sabrina already has Eevee and Azurill. So we are all ready to challenge the gym and probably win."

"Hmm… That's good! I wish you two all the best!" Alder smiled.

"Yeah, thanks! We should leave now, Sabrina. It would be quite a walk to Aspertia." I smiled as Sabrina started to walk out. We left Alder's and started walking towards Aspertia.

"Alder is quite nice!" Sabrina said.

"What?"

"I said Alder is nice. He isn't too proud of himself; being the Unova Champion for three consecutive times."

"Yeah, he is nice but sometimes he just freaks you out with his behavior," I replied.

"Hahaha!" Sabrina laughed.

We were already on Route 19 and heading towards Aspertia at quite a pace. It was eight in the morning and so the sun wasn't that high up. Groups of Pidoves were seen flying in the sky, Patrats were searching the ground for food and nearly every other Pokémon was up by now.

I remembered what Alder had said. The egg will hatch in the coming days. It was just a few days ago, I had found it but somehow a strong bond had grown between the egg and me. A bond of friendship; true friendship!

"I have heard that the Aspertia gym's leader is quite tough!" Sabrina said.

"Huh… Oh… Well, we will try our best!" I said and smiled towards her.

In Aspertia City…

Normal POV

"You are quite a good trainer!" a young guy about 20-22 said. He was wearing a white, full sleeved shirt which was folded 'till his elbows. He was also wearing blue office pants and had a red tie around his neck. His hair was blue and had an unusual shine to them. He was wearing glasses which had a blue shade.

"I know. Kenny and I have trained a lot," came the reply from Joel. He was wearing a dark purple trench coat with a golden 'X' n on the hip, a plain white long sleeve shirt under it and black dress pants. He stood there proud with a smirk.

"Here it is! Your first gym badge!" The young guy said handing Joel a badge.

"Thanks Cheren!" Joel smiled accepting the badge.

Joel's POV

I won my first badge and all thanks to my Pokémons. Cheren is quite a wonderful trainer. Kenny has proved to be quite powerful. Rotom and I will have to train more though. I said to myself as I walked towards the Pokémon centre.

As I reached the Pokémon centre, I saw two familiar faces approaching me.

"Hey Joel!" the boy that I met this morning called out to me. He was followed by his friend.

"Hey… I didn't get to say thanks to you this morning," He said smiling.

"There's no need! Any good guy would have done that," I said replying to his smile.

"Yeah ok but thanks…"

"But what are you doing here?" The girl asked me.

"I was here to challenge the gym." I replied.

"So did you challenge?" The boy asked.

"Yes and I won!" I replied.

"By the way, I never got to know your names," I said.

"Yeah! I am Leo and this is Sabrina," The boy named Leo said.

"So what are you two doing here?"

"Well, we are also going to challenge the gym!" Sabrina exclaimed.

"Oh! So… Good luck!" I replied, "I should be heading to the Pokémon centre. Kenny and Motor both need some rest."

"Yeah, why not? Sure! Hope we meet again?" Leo said.

"Of course!" I replied as I walked into the Pokémon centre and said bye to them.

Leo's POV

As Joel went into the Pokémon centre, we headed towards the Gym.

"Joel challenged and won on his first try! Looks like the Gym Leader isn't that strong…" Sabrina said.

"Yeah it could be but Joel's Pokémon are far stronger than ours so we can't take the gym lightly," I said.

"Yeah but whatever happens no one can defeat the tem of Eevee, Azurill and me," Sabrina said punching up in the air with delight.

"Yeah… Let's go then!" I said and started running towards the gym.

"Hey… I'm going to battle the gym first!" Sabrina ran towards the gym.

At the gym

"So here we are! Aspertia gym!" I said aloud.

"Let's go inside," Sabrina said as we both walked into the gym.

"W… Wait! What's this?" Sabrina exclaimed.

"I thought this was a gym…" I said.

"But it looks more like a school?" Sabrina said.

"This is a gym!"

"Huh…" I looked towards the sound. A young guy in his 20's stood there. He was wearing a white full sleeved shirt folded till his elbows. He was also wearing blue office pants and had a red tie around his neck. His hairs were blue and had an unusual shine to them. He was wearing glasses that had a shade of blue.

"I said that this is the gym and I am the leader, Cheren. The battlefield is at the back." He said.

"Oh… So you are the leader! I challenge you to a battle for the badge!" Sabrina shouted towards him.

"Ok! I accept your challenge. Let's go the Battlefield." He said as he started walking and motioned us to follow.

He opened a door and led us inside. And there it was, the battlefield, similar to the one in Alder's lawn but much bigger.

"So, who is the challenger?" He asked.

"We both are; but I am going to battle first!" Sabrina said, ready with a pokeball in her hand. Before I could say anything, Sabrina already had challenged him; so I walked towards the stands and sat there.

"Ok! Take your positions." The gym leader said as both walked towards their positions. A referee came and stood in his box.

Normal POV

"First of all, the rules! This will be a 2-2 battle between the gym leader and the challenger. The leader isn't allowed to switch Pokémon but the challenger may switch. Both ready! Call out your Pokémon!" He said.

"Go Azurill!" Sabrina tossed a pokeball in the air. From the pokeball, came out Azurill. She was all set for the battle.

"Go Patrat!" Cheren called out as he sent a pokeball flying in the air. The pokeball opened up with a bright light and the luminosity started taking shape and out came Patrat.

"Start the battle!" the referee announced.

"Azurill, start with Tackle!" Sabrina ordered as Azurill started running towards Patrat.

"Patrat, wait for it… Now dig!" Cheren said. The Patrat just in time dug underground avoiding Azurill altogether.

"Azurill, stay sharp!" Azurill attentively searched every part of the battlefield with her eyes. But suddenly out of the ground beneath her rose Patrat who slammed her onto the ground.

"Azurill, no!" cried Sabrina.

"Azu…" Azurill said trying to get back up.

"We can do this! Let's go Azurill! Use Bubble!" Sabrina ordered as Azurill sent water bubbles from her mouth towards Patrat. They surrounded him and burst out loud.

"Pat…" Patrat shouted covering his ears.

"Now tackle!" Azurill bounced off her tail ball and charged towards Patrat who had closed his eyes and ears.

"Patrat look at your front!" Cheren shouted but it was too late. Azurill hit Patrat sharp into his stomach.

"Yay!" Sabrina shouted out of joy but not for long. Patrat stood there on his legs but a little hurt.

"Did you think that a small tackle would take out my Patrat? Patrat work up then bite!" Cheren ordered. The Patrat started doing pushups and then with increased speed and power charged towards Azurill.

"Dodge, Azurill!" But before Azurill could dodge it, it got bit by the Patrat and that also on its tail.

"AZU? Azu… RILL!" Azurill was hurt but then it suddenly turned red.

"Uh… Oh!" Cheren sounded worried.

"AZURILL!" It suddenly cried and started sending out bubbles towards Patrat and at the same time tackling it furiously.

"What's happening?" Sabrina said, looking at how Azurill tortured Patrat; wondering why Cheren wasn't ordering his Pokémon. Azurill had gone crazy smashing Patrat with numerous tackles and bubbles. Patrat tried to run but couldn't get away from Azurill.

"Pat… Rat!" was the last sound from that Pokémon in the match as it fell down fainted. Azurill stood there glaring at the fainted Pokémon. Cheren took out the pokeball and called Patrat back.

"What just happened?" Sabrina asked.

"My Patrat… By mistake bit Azurill on her tail bulb. And the Azurill family doesn't tolerate this a bit. They would go frenzy if anything like this occurs. And that's just what happened here!" Cheren said with a gulp.

"So the first round's winner is Azurill and Sabrina." The referee announced. Hearing this, Azurill suddenly jumped up in the air laughing and smiling.

"That was unusual!" Sabrina said still figuring out what to say. She called back Azurill.

"Go Lillipup!" Cheren shouted as he threw a pokeball in the air. And out of it came Lillipup.

"Uh…" Sabrina stood still without doing anything.

"Sabrina?" Cheren called bringing Sabrina back to her senses.

"Oh… Yes! Go Eevee!" she said regaining her posture and calling Eevee out.

"Eevee!" The Pokémon cried landing on its four paws and eager to battle. The other four paws Pokémon was also peppy and ready for a battle.

"Eevee! Use tackle!" Sabrina ordered as her normal type starter ran towards Lillipup.

"Lillipup, dodge it then work up!" Cheren said and the Pokémon followed. Lillipup dodged the attack and started doing pushups (I don't know how but it did).

"Now slam that pup with quick attack!" Cheren ordered as Lillipup slammed into Eevee making her crash into the ground.

"Eevee, get up! We can win this!" Sabrina said. The Pokémon got back onto its feet and gave a smile to her trainer.

"Yes Eevee! Now use swift!" Hearing the orders, Eevee sent out golden stars towards Lillipup.

"Dodge it…" Cheren said. Lillipup started dodging the stars that came into its direction.

"Now! Quick attack using the stars!" Sabrina ordered as her Eevee jumped from one star to another gaining speed. The Lillipup was busy dodging the stars when suddenly Eevee emerged out of them slamming into Lillipup.

The Lillipup fell on the ground fainted.

"Lillipup is unable to battle any more. The winner of this round is Eevee. And the winner of this match is Sabrina from Aspertia city." The referee announced.

"Quite good tactics for a beginner!" Cheren exclaimed as he called his Pokémon back.

"Actually we had just trained this combination and we never thought it would work out so great!" Sabrina said laughing sheepishly.

"Oh! Great work on it! Keep it up! Here is your badge…" Cheren said handing the badge to Sabrina.

Leo's POV

"What a great match!" I said as he entered the battlefield.

"So it is you next?" Cheren asked.

"Yeah… But there is a problem!"

"What?" Cheren asked.

"I actually have only one Pokémon…" I said.

"Well according to new rules, a gym battle must be at least a 2 on 2." Cheren said.

"So does that mean I can't battle?" I asked.

"I'm sorry but you can't!"

"Oh!"

"But Leo, you do have your poke-egg?" Sabrina said.

"And how is it going to battle?" I asked Sabrina on her stupid solution.

"Yeah… That's a problem!"

"Hey! How about a 2 on 1 match?" I asked eagerly.

"2 on 1? No, I can't do that it would be partial against you!"

"Please! I want to battle and my Riolu is quite tough! We can do this!" I pleaded.

"Ok! But only because you are so eager to battle!" Cheren said as he went and stood in his trainer's box.

"Thank you!" I said as I ran towards my trainer's box.

"Well best of luck Leo!" Sabrina said as she went and sat into the stands.

"So this will be a 2 on 1 match! Both the trainer as well as the leader will call out their Pokémon. If the trainer's Pokémon survives and wins against the leader's Pokémon, the leader will call out his second Pokémon. If the trainer defeats the second Pokémon as well, he will win the battle. Both ready! Call your Pokémon out!" The referee said.

"Go Riolu!" Leo called out his Pokémon. Riolu landed on its toes and took a fighting position.

"Go Minccino!" Cheren said while calling out his Pokémon.

"Commence the Battle!" The referee announced.

"Riolu, Quick Attack!" I ordered as Riolu ran towards Minccino increasing speed as he ran.

"Minccino dodge it!" Cheren ordered and Minccino jumped as Riolu completely missed the squirrel.

"Now pound it!" Cheren said aloud as the Minccino pounded Riolu with its tail. Riolu fell on the ground.

"Riolu!"

"Now use Double Slap!" Cheren said as the Minccino used its tail to slap Riolu twice.

"Riolu…" he tried to get up but he hardly could.

"Riolu… We can do this!" I tried to encourage him as it seemed to be working. He got up.

"Riolu!" He cried all set again.

"Let's do this! Use Force Palm!" Hearing the order Riolu ran towards Minccino as his palm started glowing blue.

"Dodge!" Cheren said slowly and the Minccino dodged it perfectly.

"This is going to be tough… Riolu quick attack!" Riolu stopped in his tracks turned towards Minccino and started charging towards it.

"Dodge it again!" And the Minccino dodged again.

"Keep on doing it, Riolu!" I ordered as Riolu kept quick attacking Minccino but it dodged every one of them.

"What the…?" was only that could get out of my mouth as I watched that Minccino dancing and dodging Riolu's attacks.

After a while of Minccino's dancing, Riolu seemed tired.

"Ugh… What the heck? Riolu are you okay!" I said a little worried.

"Ri…" Riolu said as he looked towards the Minccino with anger.

"I need a plan! And that also a good one…"

"You know what. You concentrate more on being offensive rather than defensive. And that's why you lose…" Cheren said nodding his head.

"Defensive! I think I'm getting it. Riolu use quick attack again!"

"It doesn't seem like that! Stop it with Pound!" Minccino jumped in air to dodge as well as pound Riolu.

"NOW! Riolu… Use Reversal!" I ordered as Riolu stopped just beneath Minccino, jumped up and smashed the Minccino into its face. The Minccino fell on the ground fainted.

"Yeah!" I shouted as Riolu stood there smirking and Cheren astonished.

"Great work with that move! I'm stunned! You used the quick attack to get near Minccino and then struck with Reversal as Riolu was tired and hence the attack was more powerful!" Cheren said as he recalled his Minccino.

"Minccino is unable to battle! Riolu is the winner! Leader, choose your next Pokémon!" the referee announced.

"Great work Riolu!" I smiled towards him as he returned it back.

"You passed your first test but you won't do it the second time! Go Watchog!" Cheren said as he lifted his pokeball and out came a Pokémon similar to Patrat.

"A Watchog!" I said as I removed my pokedex to scan the Pokémon.

Watchog,

The Lookout Pokémon and the evolved form of Patrat. Watchog's body contains luminescent compounds, which allow its eyes and stripes to glow.

"So it is the evolved form of Patrat! Riolu lets start this with quick attack!" I ordered as Riolu ran towards the Watchog.

"You aren't doing this again, are you? Watchog use tackle!" Cheren said. The Watchog also ran towards Riolu. They both crashed into each other. But Watchog comes out to be the stronger one as he makes Riolu crash into the ground with just a tackle.

"Riolu no…" I exclaimed in shock.

As the dust cleared, I saw Riolu lying there fainted with just a tackle. I was stunned at the power of the Watchog. With just a tackle, he finished my Riolu. But that was the moment that it struck me that I had lost!

"So it seems…" But before Cheren could complete his sentence, my bag started glowing. I opened it to see that the Pokémon egg was glowing!

I took it out in my hands as it started glowing with more shine.

It seemed as it was about to… Hatch!
