A short and sweet apology for being gone so long. An adaptation of 'injured' because the feels in that episode!

"I really hate odd socks Jess" Nick said wearily, sitting up on his elbows that were firmly stuck in the sand.
"Oddly I get that" Jess said smiling, turning her head to the left to look at her roommate. A cold breeze swept across the beach causing her to shiver and pull her knees to her chest even tighter.
"Can I lie on your boobs? I'm cold" Nick said rolling his head on his neck so as he could look at the stars.
"Nick!" Jess laughed "no wa-AHH!" Nick pulled her elbow towards him and she collapsed beside him.
"Look at those Jess. How small are we? If I do have cancer neck-"
"I don't think it's actually called that, but go on-"
"SHH IM TALKING! Anyways. The stars Jess! The stars! We are so small, would I even be missed?"
"Of course you would you clown!"
"Would you miss me?" He turned to look at her. He shivered at the sea air hitting his still wet body. Her head turned to face him. She looked him up and down. He attempted to pull a suggestive face, but it just made Jess giggle. "Yeah probably. You're a good man Nick. You're just a bit of an idiot." She smiled hoping he'd understand she was just teasing him.
"I'm never going to get married!-"
"You will!"
"I'm never going to do anything for the first time ever again! No first nandos?!"
"Wait, you haven't had a Nandos? What is wrong with you?"
"I just never got round to it. Remember- REMEMBER THE WEDDING?! Our first wedding together as a foursome!" He sprung up and pulled her arms until she too was standing.
"The first time we danced! We danced and danced and it was amazing!" He tried to dance again but lost balance and dropped like a sack of potatoes.
"How about we slow dance? Have a bit more stability?" Jess smirked, holding out her hands. He took them with a goofy smile, and droopy eyes looking at her.
"Woaaakay" Jess said, straining as she pulled Nick to her. The words 'woah' and 'okay' becoming one in this physical challenge.
She positioned his hands at her hips, and hers around his neck.
"Be careful there 'Jussica', you don't want to catch the cancer" he slurred, his hidden Chicago accent coming through thickly.
"You can't catch that Nick, and you don't have cancer. You- you can't." She lay her head on his shoulder. Ignoring Winston in his car, and Schmidt and Cece spooning in the sand.
"Take a photo of us Jess"
"Why?"
"Because I'm on lady tablets and I want to remember this. You make me- LETS WRITE OUR NAMES IN THE SAND!" Before Jess could even ask him to finish his sentence, he was gone. A blurry photo of Nick running away from her is the picture memory she now had for him to see.

She ran after him and found him with a huge stick writing 'NICK AND JESS' in the sand.
"Here" he gave her the stick and lay down suddenly exhausted.
She daintily dragged the stick around the names, capturing them in a heart bubble, before quickly taking a photo.
She sighed knowing the tide would soon take the image away, just as sunset would come and take the night that Jess held dearest away too.

Jess and Nick didn't wait for Winston when he ran after them. They continued to walk I'm their own little bubble.
"So you're in the prime of your life Miller?" She smirked nudging him in the ribs.
"Uh huh." He paused. "Are you sure nothing happened last night?" He looked puzzled. He had had butterflies in his stomach all day, even after seeing the doctor, and he knew when he looked at Jess something felt different.
She gulped. Her wide eyes staring into his smaller ones. They stood still with Winston approaching she pushed him into an alley on the other side of the road.
"What do I make you?" She said, holding his torso against the fence lining the walls of the alley.
"What?" He asked bewildered.
"Last night, we were slow dancing-"
"Yeah right!"
"SHUT UP A SECOND! We really were! And you said that I make you... Something. You didn't finish your sentence!" Her hands in fists against his chest were the only obstacles between her heart and his. They were beating in unison, and incredibly fast.
He leant his forehead onto hers and looked into her eyes.
"You" he breathed heavily. "Make me so happy Jess. You make my heart skip beats and I would very much like to take you out sometime if-"
He didn't finish his sentence again. Jess had stretched on the tip of her toes and kisses his lips gently. Neither moved for a moment, until she pulled away. Her hooded lids opened, only to snap back shut as Nick moved one hand to her waist, on to her head and twisted her body lower, and leant into a more passionate kiss.
It was perfect. It was like in the movies Jess thought to herself.
Then again, she'd never seen romantic moments happen in smelly alley ways.
This certainly was a first.
