Bill Weasley and the Birthday Surprise
"Happy Birthday," Bill's wife, Fleur, greeted him first thing in the morning. Bill looked over at her. "He's kicking up quite the storm," she rubbed her eight month pregnant belly.
"Still sure it's going to be a boy?"
"And you're so positive it ees going to be a girl."
"We'll just have to wait and see."
"A musser knows." Fleur slowly slid her legs out of bed.
"Where are you going?"
"To make you a birssday breakfast fit for a king." She held onto her stomach as she climbed out of bed.
"You look like you need to rest."
"Rest? I juss spent eight hours in bed sleeping. I am going to get Victoire and Dominique up and zen start on your breakfast." She threw on her dressing gown and slowly made her way out of the bedroom.
After dressing, Bill followed his wife out the door. He headed downstairs where he heard the laughter of his two little girls. He noticed Fleur grimacing a bit but he didn't say anything. Instead he rubbed Victoire's blonde hair and tickled Domique's sides.
"Daddy!" Dominique giggled.
"Happy Birthday, Daddy!" Victoire greeted her father. She handed him a homemade card that read "To the Best Father in the Hole World."
"Thank you, sweetheart."
"I made you one, too, Daddy." Dominique handed him a card with a pink heart scribbled on it. She hadn't really learned to write, yet, so it contained pictures, four year old renderings of their family and such.
"I love it." He smiled at his girls. "I love you, too."
He looked up at Fleur just in time to see her hunch over, grab her stomach, and a gush of water puddle beneath her.
"Fleur!" Bill cried, jumping up and running to her.
"Ees too early, but I sink ze baby ees coming," she grunted.
"Er, we need to get to St. Mungo's!" He looked at his daughters. "You need to come with us."
"What's going on?" Victoire asked.
"Is Mummy going to be okay?" Dominique cried. "Mummy!" She ran to her mom's side.
"Dom, it looks like Mummy's going to have the baby right now. We need to get her to hospital."
"Hospital?" Dominique's eyes widened.
"Fleur, can you floo on your own?" Bill asked her.
"I sink so."
"Victoire, Dominique, grab Daddy's hands. We're going to have to floo to St. Mungo's."
"Is Mummy going to be all right?" Dominique asked as she took hold of Bill's left hand.
"They'll take care of her at hospital."
Ten minutes later the four of them were standing in the lobby of St. Mungo's and fifteen minutes later than that Fleur was situated in one of the only private rooms in the place.
"It looks like this baby's not going to wait any longer," an assistant healer spoke to Bill. "It is a month early, but all signs look like he should be fine."
"He?" Bill asked.
"Or she. We'll find out soon enough, won't we?" The assistant healer smiled and then walked away.
"Bill!"
Bill turned around to see his mother coming towards them. Victoire and Dominique ran into her arms.
"Thanks for coming, Mum."
"Is everything all right?"
"The baby's coming early, but the healers say nothing's wrong."
"You know, your sister came a month early."
"Really?"
"Yes and she did fine, so don't worry."
"I'm not worried, Mum. Do I look worried?"
"Yes!" Mrs. Weasley wrapped her arms around her son. "Go be with Fleur. I'll take care of Dominique and Victoire."
"Thanks, Mum." Bill left his mother and went back to his wife's room.
"Ees everysing going to be okay?" Fleur asked him. Bill walked over to her and rubbed her hands.
"Yes," he replied. "I contacted your parents. Mum's outside waiting with the girls."
"Sank you," she grunted and then a really bad contract hit causing her to scream.
"All right, all right," the main healer walked into the room. "Looks like we are all ready to go. Are you ready, Mummy?"
"Yes!" She bursted.
"Daddy, you stay up there with Mummy. On three start pushing, Mummy." The healer got into position at the foot of the bed.
Since this is a G rated blog we will not go into the details of Fleur actually having the baby. We'll jump right to…
"Waaah," came the cry.
"Would you like to hold your son, Daddy?" The healer handed the little boy wrapped in a blue blanket to Bill. "We need to clean him up, but you can hold him first."
"Happy Birssday, Daddy," Fleur said rubbing her son's feet while Bill held him. "I told you eet ees a boy."
"I should listen to you more often."
"Yes, you should. Now, what shall we name him?"
"Louis after your father like you want."
"Louis William Weasley. Bonjour, Louis!"
Happy Birthday to the eldest Weasley sibling! This is the last of the monthly one-shots. I had fun writing them. Most came from prompts found on the Harry Potter Fanfiction Prompts tumblr. I wrote on topics and characters I wouldn't normally write about. It was an adventure, a learning adventure. Thank you for being a part of it.
(I know this is being posted a day late, but I did get most of it written under the November deadline!)
