AN: So yeah. Chapter 7!
Chapter 7: Training
Alex J. POV
Previously, on In Blackest Day, our heroes had been sent to distant planets, each awaiting training from their future Lantern Corps. Will they make the cut? Are they really the chosen ones? And will Alex Jordan ever stop blinding the audience with his good looks? Probably not. Uh, I meant the last one. Not the others. To find out the answers to the first two questions, read on!
The ring encases me in a bright green glow the second we leave Earth's atmosphere. "Where are we going?" I ask again. "Oa." A voice says in my head, just as it had every time I had asked. "I'm really getting pissed off at you, you know that?" I tell the voice. "I know. I have sensed it." I roll my eyes.
Soon, we've arrived at a planet that looks similar to the one that I just left. "Is this it?" I ask. "Yes." The voice tells me. "Thank God!" I yell. "Yelling is not required." The voice tells me. "Get out of my head." I mutter. Surprisingly, the little voice obeys.
I land on the planet and immediately the same small blue man that had spoken to me on my ring approached me. "Come, come, we don't have much time. All Green Lanterns are off-world battling Aya and the Manhunters. We have devised a special mechanic training program for you." He tells me. "What?" I ask.
"All will be explained in due time. Now, first-" "No." I interrupt him. "Excuse me?" He asks, turning around, furious. "No. I will not come with you until I get some answers. What's an Aya? What's a Manhunter? Why are they being battled? How many other rings were sent out tonight? And, why is any of this even happening?" I ask him.
"How dare you? I am Appa Ali Apsa, leader of the Guardians and you have no right to speak to me in such a way!" He yells at me. "Fine." I say, and then command the voice in my head, "Take off. Find Alexis Walker." It obeys, and I lift off the ground. "What are you doing?" Appa yells, leaping up as if to grab me. "You won't give me answers, I won't train under you." I tell him, and fly away, leaving Appa screaming at me in anger.
Roy POV
I open my eyes, and for a moment, I can't remember anything. And then the memories come crashing down on me like a tidal wave. "What's going on?" I yell out. "Razer thought you were evil, so he knocked you out." A familiar voice says behind me. "Alex?" I ask. She hugs me. "Glad to see that you're awake, Roy." Alex tells me.
I look down at her. "Who's Razer?" I ask her. "A friend. He's a little uneasy around Red Lanterns, since he used to be one." Alex tells me. "There's a way to get out of being one?" I ask her excitedly. "Well, he actually got out of it by becoming a Blue Lantern. So now there are four of us." She tells me. "Us?" I ask her. She nods.
I really look at her now. She's wearing a Lantern uniform as well. It's blue. "Alex. Who are we with? And where are we anyways? Αll I know is that we're on a planet that looks like Earth and has a Green Lantern ring." I say.
"We are on the planet Mogo, and you and Johnny are in the protective custody of the Blue Lantern Corps." Alex tells me. "Johnny's here too? Is he a Red Lantern?" I ask. "Nope. Orange." Alex tells me. "Can't you get them to release us?" I ask her angrily. If she was your friend, wouldn't she have bailed you out of jail?" The voice in my head whispers.
"Don't you think I've tried? They won't listen, and they want to interrogate you. Johnny's being questioned by Ganthet right now. Don't you think I'm worried?" She asks me, her voice getting louder with every word. She thinks I don't trust her, I realize as I see her eyes begin to shimmer with tears. "If you don't want my help, than fine. I'll leave." She tells me, and storms out of my cell.
Silena POV
I follow the women until they reach a huge pink palace. "This is my kind of place." I murmur to myself. "Gieta!" The queen yells. "How is Gieta?" She's still flying and is about to crash into the door. I leap forwards instinctively and feel myself fly into the air. I zoom forward and somehow manage to get to the door and shove it open before the queen totally crashes. She doesn't even notice, but the other women do.
"How did you do that?" One of them demands, landing in front of me, her eyes glowing pink and menacing. "I concentrated." I tell her, but it sounds more like a question than a statement. "No one has ever been able to fly faster than Queen Aga'po." Another declares. "Well your queen doesn't exactly seem very focused, in case you hadn't noticed." I tell them, and fly into the palace.
"She is still alive, but fading fast." I hear from a corridor to my right. I run down it. "Gieta! Please." I recognize the queen's voice coming from a room to my left. I enter it to see a girl wearing a skimpy Star Sapphire uniform that is torn all over with a huge wound in her stomach laying in a bed with several machines hooked up to her and a ventilator covering her mouth.
Queen Aga'po is sitting at the girl's, whom I assume is Gieta, bedside, clutching one of her limp hands. The doctor is working furiously, levitating several tools at once. "She will need a strong burst of power from one of our rings to boost her life force. My queen, you are the strongest Star Sapphire on Zamaron, you must-"
"No." The queen says, standing. "Gieta and Carol Ferris's lessons have helped me to truly understand what love is, but I have still not experienced it. I am not the strongest. But her," She says, pointing to me, "I can sense love's eternal flame within her. She must boost Gieta's life force with the power of true love in its purest form."
"Me?" I ask, shocked. I wasn't even aware that the queen had noticed my presence. "Yes, you. Your love combined with our ring gives you tremendous power, and you may very well be one of our strongest warriors. Please. Help Gieta." She asks me. "How can I refuse?"
Johnny POV
"I don't want to do this to you, especially since you are a friend of Xanilia. But throughout the universe, Orange Lanterns are known as some of the most untrustworthy people out there." The little blue guy tells me. "Yeah, yeah. Whatever. But how's Alex? And Roy? And who's Xanilia?" I ask him. He looks a bit taken aback, but answers me.
"Your friend Roy is fine, although he is waiting for questioning as well. However, I do not know of any Alex. And Xanilia is your friend, the girl with whom you came to Mogo." The guy, Ganthet, as he says, tells me. "The girl I came with is Alex. Alexis Walker." I tell him. "Ah. You don't know yet." He says. "Know what?" I ask him. "I don't think Xani- Alex, wishes me to tell you before she is ready for you to know. Now, the questioning."
I roll my eyes. "Fine. I was born on Earth, in a town called Clarion County, and I grew up there with my best friends Silena Anderson and Alexander Jordan. In elementary school the three of us met Roy McEntire and Alexis Walker, and we became friends with them too. I have a sister named Anastasia and my parents travel a lot for business trips. I currently attend Clarion County High School." I tell him.
"Well, that was informative and all, but I was going to actually ask you questions, Mr. Oakman." Ganthet tells me. "Oh." I say sheepishly. "Well, continue then." "Why do you think the Orange ring chose you?" He asks me. "Well, there are my good looks, my hilarious jokes, etcetera, but I believe it's mostly because this Antolian guy in here told me that my heart is pure." I tell him, holding out the hand that I'm wearing my ring on.
"Antolian?" He asks, his voice sounding a lot more serious than it did before. I nod. "Well, I haven't heard that name in a while." Ganthet remarks, more to himself than to me. "I cannot reveal to the Guardians that I have found safe haven here. I'll get Saint Walker to contact them and inform them of this new development. Antolian..." He mutters to himself.
"This tiny man knows of me? Will he know of my past? Ask him! Ask him now!" Antolian's voice echoes in my head. "Um, excuse me, Ganthet, do you know anything about Antolian that might help me understand what the hell is going on better? Antolian himself doesn't remember much." I ask Ganthet, but he is already walking away.
"Brother Warth! Cancel the Red Lantern's questioning and contact Appa! Tell him that Antolian has returned." He calls out. A Blue Lantern who looks like an elephant walks past the 'doorway' of the cave-like interrogation room. "Of course, Ganthet." He says, and goes to carry out his orders.
"I'm sorry Johnathan but there is not time right now to answer your questions. I will be available to you tomorrow and the following days." Ganthet tells me, and the floats out of the room. "What is wrong with you? Why did you not ask more questions?" Antolian asks me. "I don't know." I tell him.
Then I hear a yell from outside. I fly into the air and find my way out of the massive labyrinth of tunnels and rooms in the cave that is the home of the Blue Lanterns to find Alex (Jordan) screaming as he glows with green light. He's wearing a Green Lantern uniform. "Help! What's happening?" He screams. "This just got a lot more interesting." Antolian tells me as I fly up to get my friend.
AN: This chapter was probably too short. I guess I'm just lazy like that.
