Santana knocked on Rachel's front door and in a few seconds to reveal Hiram one of Rachel's dads.
"May I help you?" he asked. Santana internally panicked.
"Um, Rachel invited me over so we could do a duet," Santana answered him. He rose his brow and Santana looked away nervously.
"Daddy! Stop scaring Santana," Rachel called coming to stand next to him. Hiram broke out in laughter.
"Alright, alright. I have to go to work, so I bid you both good luck and have fun. Oh and Rachel your father will be back later tonight, he had to pick up and extra shift at the hospital, so he'll be in late," Hiram said.
"Okay, I'll just be here," Rachel replied. Hiram smiled and hugged Rachel giving her a kiss in the top of her head. He looked at Santana and smiled.
"It was nice to meet you Santana," he said, they shook hands.
"Nice to meet you too sir," Santana replied. He chuckled lightl and shook his head.
"Please call me Hiram," he told her.
"Alright," Santana said shyly, he nodded and walked past her getting in the car and driving off.
"Come in," Rachel said grabbing Santana's attention. Rachel gestured her to enter and Santana walked in and kicked off her shoes.
"So where do we do this?" Santana asked.
"Well normally my room so follow me," Rachel answered her. Santana felt her heart pick up speed while she followed Rachel.
Rachel's room in person.
Was all Santana could think of until Rachel opened a door and walked in. it was white and pink, with various pictures, medals, ribbons, and trophies.
"So I have sheet music for the song here," Rachel said picking up the music from her bed and handed it to Santana. "I already have it memorized, so I don't need it," Rachel explained.
"I think I have it down, I had…. A friend who kind of shoved these musicals down my throat," Santana mentioned setting the papers down on the bed.
"Alright," Rachel said. She walked to her computer to ready the music and then walked over to the camera sitting on the tri-pod. She turned it on and pressed record. Rachel walked back far enough to be in the frame and smiled.
"Hi, I'm Rachel Berry and I'm doing a special duet with a new friend of mine Santana Lopez, former Cheerio. We're going to sing For Good from the Broadway musical Wicked," Rachel said. She gestured Santana to come into frame. Santana shyly walked over and slightly waved. She was so going to be slushied tomorrow.
"I will be singing-"
"Glinda, you should sing Glinda's part," Santana interrupted. Rachel looked at Santana for a second before nodding.
"Very well I'll be singing Glinda's part while Santana sings Elphaba's part," Rachel said. She reached over ad pressed play on her computer. Santana heard the harp while the music began.
Santana
I'm limited.
Just look at me.
I'm limited.
And just look at you.
You can do all I couldn't do.
Glinda...
So now it's up to you,
For both of us.
Now it's up to you.
Rachel
I've heard it said,
That people come into our lives
For a reason
Bringing something we must learn.
And we are lead to those
Who help us most to grow if we let them.
And we help them in return.
Well, I don't know if I believe that's true
But I know I'm who I am today
Because I knew you.
Like a comet pulled from orbit
As it passes a sun,
Like a stream that meets a boulder
Halfway through the wood.
Who can say if I've been changed for the better
But because I knew you.
I have been changed for good.
Santana
It well may be
That we will never meet again
In this lifetime.
So, let me say before we part:
So much of me
Is made of what I learned from you.
You'll be with me
Like a handprint on my heart.
And now whatever way our stories end
I know you'll have rewritten mine
By being my friend.
Like a ship blown from its mooring
By a wind off the sea.
Like a seed dropped by a sky bird
In a distant wood.
Who can say if I've been changed for the better
But because I knew you...
Rachel
Because I knew you...
Both
I have been changed for good.
Santana
And just to clear the air
I ask forgiveness
For the things I've done,
You blamed me for.
Rachel
But then,
I guess,
We know there's blame to share.
Both
And none of it seems to matter anymore.
Like a comet pulled from orbit
(Like a ship blown from its mooring)
As it passes a sun.
(By a wind off the sea)
Like a stream that meets a boulder
(Like a seed dropped by bird)
Halfway through the wood.
(In the wood)
Who can say if I've been changed for the better.
I do believe I have been changed for the better.
Rachel
And because I knew you...
Santana
Because I knew you...
Both
Because I knew you
I have been changed...
For good.
They finished singing and Rachel smiled brightly at Santana before walking over and turning off the camera.
"Santana that was absolutely amazing, our voice work amazingly together," Rachel complimented.
"Thanks," Santana said and smiled at Rachel before looking around, "so um what should we do now?" Santana asked her. Rachel blushed and looked around.
"Um, are you hungry?" Rachel asked.
"Yeah, I could eat," Santana answered.
"Good follow me," Rachel said and walked by Santana. Santana started to follow but her foot caught the wire of the camera and tripped. She fell into Rachel and they both squealed falling to the ground. Somehow during the fall Rachel had twisted and landed on her back. Santana panicked and pushed herself up. She was on her hands and knew, both on either side of Rachel's body. Rachel opened her eyes and stared up at Santana while Santana stared back down at her. Rachel's cheeks flushed and Santana could feel her own blush spread across her face. Both of their hearts were beating erratically. They stared at one another for a while before Santana came to her senses and started stuttering.
"Uh, um… I-I'm sorry, I tripped and I tried to catch myself, but ended up falling on you and-" Santana was cut off by a lips touching her own. Santana's eyes widened and her heart fluttered. She was about to kiss back, but Rachel pulled away too quickly, fear riding her face.
"I'm sorry! I don't understand why I did that it's just-"
"Rachel," Santana breathed, stopping Rachel. Rachel slowly closed her mouth and stared at Santana in awe. Santana's eyes had darkened and Rachel could swear that she saw complete adoration in the dark brown eyes.
"Yeah?" Rachel asked softly.
"Kiss me again," Santana muttered leaning in. Rachel's breath hitched and started leaning up herself.
"Okay," Rachel whispered. Their lips met and they both indescribable sparks ignite throughout their bodies. Rachel's neck started to get tired and her head slowly fell. Santana followed, never breaking the contact. Their lips moved together gently and Rachel swooned. This was her first kiss and it was absolutely amazing. Rachel brought her hands up and grabbed the back of Santana's neck. After a while Santana pulled away and rested her forehead on Rachel's. They were both breathing heavily. They opened their eyes and they both saw a spark in one anothers eyes. Santana smiled slightly which Rachel reciprocated.
"That… was amazing," Rachel said breaking the silence.
"I agree," Santana said.
"I… I didn't know you were… I mean I don't know if you're…" Rachel tripped over her words trying to make sure she didn't assume.
"I am… gay I mean. I am," Santana answered the unsaid question. Santana sat up and pulled Rachel with her until they were both on their feet.
"I'm surprised, I mean you never seemed interested in girls before," Rachel said flattening out her sweater.
"Yeah, I found out before the beginning of the year… I've… liked you for a while," Santana said shyly. Rachel rose her brow in confusion.
"IF you did, then why did you bully me?" Rachel asked. Santana winced and walked over to sit on Rachel's bed.
"I was afraid of what I was feeling. That's not much of an excuse, but really it's the only thing I have. I…. will you forgive me?" Santana asked looking up at Rachel. Their eyes locked and all Rachel saw was complete vulnerability.
"I… I do," Rachel said. Santana smiled brightly and stood grabbing Rachel's hands.
"Thank you, I'll prove to you that I deserve your forgiveness," Santana said.
"I believe you… but Santana…. I'm not sure if I… I don't know what I feel for you," Rachel said. Santana's smile faltered a little but she regained it.
"That's fine, I understand. I'll wait for you to be ready," Santana told her.
"What if I'm never ready?" Rachel asked.
"You will be, and while you're getting ready I'll show you that I'm serious about waiting and the way I feel about you," Santana said.
"Alright," Rachel said and smiled. This new Santana was definitely a person she could become friends with, and possibly develop honest feelings for.
