Hello everyone, well I'm sad to say that this is the final chapter in this story. I have ran out of ways to continue this story but, I will not leave it incomplete so this chapter officially finishes it. I have had a lot of fun writing this story. I have other idea's in work but won't post them for sometime. I want to thank Sabrina06 for helping me tremendously for beta reading and catching my errors. Without further ado here's the finally chapter in The Effects of Bullying.
I don't own anything Phineas and Ferb except Ryan.
Beta read by Sabrina06
Katie walked into the hospital. She asked the receptionist if she could see Ryan. The receptionist told her that he was currently out of his room and in the courtyard. The nurse gave Katie directions to the courtyard, which is in the middle of the hospital and is open to all the patients and visitors. There's only one door that leads into the courtyard, acting both as escape prevention and to keep track of people coming and leaving.
As she walked outside and started searching for Ryan, she found it hard to locate him.
Katie's POV
I searched the courtyard for 10 minutes and couldn't find Ryan. I went back to the desk at the entrance of the courtyard and asked the nurse if Ryan had left. She typed his name into the computer and said he was still in the courtyard.
I searched some more, then stood under a tree trying to figure out where he could be. Is he hiding on purpose, I thought to myself.
Could he have gone back to his room? No, otherwise I would have seen him. Could he have snuck out of the hospital? No the courtyard is in the middle of hospital and there's only one way in or out. I asked and answered to myself.
"Where could he be?" I said out loud to myself.
"Someplace up high and out of sight, observing." Someone stated.
I looked up to see Ryan sitting on a branch looking down laughing slightly. It's good to see a smile on his face after yesterday. He was wearing clothes that patients wore instead of his normal attire.
Normal POV
"How long have you been up there?" Katie asked.
"About half an hour before you got here. I've been watching you look around for me." He replied as he climbed down.
"Why were you watching me from in the tree, and why are you in the tree in the first place?" Katie asked as she raised an eyebrow.
"Okay I know it sounds weird but, it helps me relax, and I like being up high. As for watching you, I just wanted to see if you could find me. You have to open your mind to all possibilities." He said as he stepped to the ground.
Ryan invited her to sit. He leaned against the tree hugging his legs.
"So how have you been doing since yesterday?" Katie questioned as she sat down
"A lot better and my test results are good. My doctor says that I should be able to go home tomorrow, though I'm still going to be on an anti-depressant and I have to visit a psychiatrist for a couple of weeks." He said somewhat sad.
"Hey, don't let something like taking medicine to help your depression get you down, and so what if you have to visit a psychiatrist all you have to do is talk anyway."
Ryan gave her a 'are you kidding' look in response.
"Sorry but, why is talking a problem, after all you talk to me with ease."
"That's because I know and I fell I can trust you. I'm not exactly comfortable talking to a stranger, especially if that stranger wants to poke around in my head regarding… certain issues." He stated.
"Issues like Shannon?" Katie asked.
"Please don't bring her up again." He said as he stood up and looked away crossing his arms over his chest.
"Ryan the only way you'll feel better is to talk about what happened." She said as she got up and put her hand on his shoulder. "I thought you trusted me?"
He sighed and said, "I do Katie, it's just… it's only been a matter of months since it happened I still need time before I'm ready to talk about it, just thinking about it…" He stopped as he began to tear up.
She looked down and said, "Sorry I didn't mean to bring it up."
"Its fine," he began as he wiped his eyes. "It's just a really hard thing to talk about." He then looked towards her and said, "I want to thank you."
She looked at him and asked, "For what?"
"For helping me, it's because of you that I'm still here. I don't want to think of where I would be if you hadn't distracted me and gave Buford enough time to pin me." His eyes began to water again and continued, "Never would I have thought before I met you, that I would have such a great friend in my life. Thank you so much Katie, it's because of you that I actually look forward to living again." He finished as he hugged her
"I always help my friends and I'm glad I made such a difference." She replied as she returned the hug.
"Feicim éin grá" Ryan's mother said as she approached.
Ryan eyes went wide and he quickly broke the hug and groaned, "Mam" as his cheeks turned a light pink.
"Tá a fhios agam grá nuair a fheiceann liom é." She replied as she walked away with a smile.
"What language were you two speaking?"
"It's Irish, my mom's side of the family is mostly Irish and the language is taught to all generations."
"What did she say that made you blush?"
"Something embarrassing and you don't want to know."
She giggled and said, "Mothers always say embarrassing things, it's their job."
"Yeah, I suppose you're right. Anyway thanks for coming to check up on me."
"Anytime, so I'll see you at school on Tuesday."
"Yep, Goodbye Katie it was nice talking to you."
"It's was nice talking to you too. Goodbye Ryan."
They hugged each other again before separating. As Katie left Ryan's mom came and said, "You have a crush on her."
Ryan blushed and looked away and stammered, "N-n-n-n-n-no, I don't"
"There's no hiding that blush on your face." She teased as she hugged him.
"Mom," he groaned.
"Don't be embarrassed, I was in love too... at one time." She replied sadly.
"Mom, dad was a selfish bastard for leaving you, Shannon and me. I'm sure you'll find love again. Maybe I will too."
"The universe does work in mysterious ways." She replied as she hugged him.
He couldn't help the smile that appeared on his face. When they separated, Ryan said, "Mom let us close this book of our lives and start writing a new one."
She smiled and said, "Sounds like a plan." They then walked to Ryan's room to get ready; he was being from the hospital tomorrow. Both thinking about what the future would hold for them.
I would like to thank everyone who read this story. Until next time.
