Alex's POV
"Max!" I called out once I saw him. Brian, the night guard had my little brother in a hold while talking to my boss, and Max stared up at me astonished. I hadn't let him know I could talk.
"You know this boy?" Brian asked me and I nodded.
"That's my brother" I told them and Mr. Torres turned to me confused.
"the one that kicked you out?"
"No! Max is the one who would help me sneak back in. He never gave me crap for anything and he's always supported me in everything I do." Max smiled despite the situation.
"Well, he was sneaking around outside, perhaps he was looking for you?" Brian asked.
"No, I didn't even know she stayed here, I was trying to get away from this group of guys and hid inside the fence to escape them. I swear I was leaving when you grabbed me!" Max said honestly. I knew it was honestly because he's not one to lie. If he had been sneaking in here, he would have confirmed it once he was caught.
"He wouldn't lie. Trust me, I know him" I told the men in front of me. Mr. Torres and Brian discussed it quietly to the point that I couldn't hear what they were saying before Brian nodded and let go of Max and left. Max ran to me and I wrapped my arms around him in a warm embrace.
"You can talk!" He exclaimed happily and I smiled.
"Yep. I got over what ever it was that was preventing me from it" He smiled wider than before causing me to do the same before I remembered how he got here. "Max, what were you doing outside at this time of night?"
"Erm." He stepped back and rubbed the back of his neck. "Justin and I got in another fight and he sorta kicked me out." I felt myself grow furious. That bastard. He used to say Family was the most important thing to him and then he goes and throws both his siblings on the streets. I can't believe him!
"I swear I'm going to kick his ass the next time I see him." I muttered angrily.
"I'm sorry, but I couldn't help but overhear that your brother kicked you out as well?" Mr. Torres asked Max. My little brother nodded. "Well, you know, you're more than welcome to stay here" He said and Max's jaw dropped.
"Really? I mean, I don't want to impose" he told him and my boss chuckled.
"Now I know you two are related. Yes you can, but you can't sleep in Mitchie's room too, I think it's getting too crowded already" He joked.
"Dad" Mitchie whined. "You're not funny" I heard her mutter from behind me and I had to hold back a chuckle.
"Whatever. Alex would you mind preparing his room?" He asked me and I nodded.
"Yes sir" I said as he walked off in another direction.
"C'mon, lets pick you a room. Lord knows there's plenty of them" I told him.
"You never told me Mitchie was rich!" He accused me.
"Well you never asked" I shot back.
Mitchie's POV
I decided to let Alex and Max catch up while I went back to my room. I got into my pajamas and brushed my teeth before going to lay on my bed. I felt something poking my back so I sat pack up and checked to see what it was. I pulled back the covers and found that box that Mr. Markel had given Alex. Out of curiosity I opened it. I picked up the small stick like object and examined it closely. It looked familiar for some reason, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. I rolled it around in between my fingers until something caught my eye. It was an engraving. I turned it towards the light to get a better look at it.
Alexandra Russo- Destined for greatness
Talk about a self motivator. Why would that be engraved on this? Didn't it belong to her dad? I turned it around a few more times trying to find something else but there was nothing so I decided to get another look at the engraving, but when I turned it back, it said something else.
Family Wizard
What!? How'd it do that? It must be a different one. I scanned the strange object again and again came up with nothing else. I went back to the same spot to find it had changed again.
Mitchie Torres This isn't yours
I yelped and dropped it before jumping back. It rolled a few feet from the bed that I was on and I sat there frozen just staring at it. It had stopped rolling, but then it started again. It rolled about 3 inches from where it had stopped the first time and was still again. It had stopped so that the light was glinting off it a certain way so that i could see the engraving from where I was.
But you'll get your own
I put my hand over my mouth still staring at it, not daring to look away when Alex walked in.
"Okay, he's going to be down the hall... What are you staring at?" She asked looking to the ground and spotted the wand. She walked over and picked it up.
"Mitchie, what's this doing out?" I shook my head, snapping out of whatever trance I was in.
"Alex! Look at the engraving!" I pointed frantically to it and she scanned it.
"Mitchie, there is no engraving" She said confused.
"It's right there!" I told her and she turned it over again finally seeing it.
"'All wizards do' That's odd, I wonder if its some sort of slogan?" Alex said.
"Turn it around" I instructed her. She looked at me like I was crazy but did so anyways. "Now check the engraving again." I told her and she did so. She stared at it for a few seconds before looking back to me.
"It changed" She said shocked. I nodded.
"What does it say this time?"
"Please please tell me now, is there something I should know? Duranium, Duranium" The ball on the top started glowing and a light shot from the wand onto the wall in a rectangle like a projector. Alex and I stared in fear and wonder as a picture came through. It was an old man sitting at a desk writing with an ink well and a quill. There was a knock on the door and a boy who looked to be our age with brown hair and brown eyes.
"Professor? You asked to see me?" He had a British accent that most girls would swoon over.
"Yes, Mason, please sit" The professor told him and he sat in a chair in front of him. "Now Mason, as I've told you before you were destined for someone. Your alleged soul mate was to be a wizard of great power. She was to be the one you were to fall in love with"
"Yes sir, you've told me before"
"Right well, as you also know, destinies can change as people can control their own lives." The British boy nodded.
"Well this one has changed as well. I figured this would happen when she lost her parents. They were never supposed to die and her brother wasn't supposed to abandon her. Because of these circumstances, the stars have aligned in a different pattern."
"So your telling me she's not meant for me anymore?" He asked.
"I'm afraid so"
"But, now what? How else am I supposed to break this curse?"
"I'm not sure of that yet, but I can tell you I believe it has to do with your originally intended."
"You mean the girl?"
"Yes. I think you should find Alex Russo and seek her help"
"Ok" He said then paused. "Thank You sir" He said before leaving the room. The screen flickered before it went off completely. I looked to Alex and she stared back at me.
"Wh- what was that?" I asked not really expecting her to know the answer. She suddenly froze like a deer in headlights.
"I think we're about to find out" She said and I turned around to see the boy that was on the screen standing on the balcony.
I know I know, it's ridiculously short so Im sorry but at least its an update?
