Geki walked into the large tin building and smiled at the woman behind the counter. Her thick Sinnohan Accent was relaxing. "Why hello there! Welcome to Craterside Supply. I'm Moira Brown. What can I help you with?" She noticed Moriarty and smiled, "Well, Collin, I can only think of two reasons for your being here. Do you need repairs or supplies?"
Moriarty shook his head and laughed, "Nope. I just challenged this kiddo to a match, and he smoked my Mudkip! She's hurt bad and could use the best service Megaton can get. The kid may have won, but I did a number on his Snivy as well. See to him too, please."
Moira sighed and gave a frown of disappointment at Moriarty. "You'd both be better off seeing Doc Church below me."
Moriarty shook his head and gave a hearty laugh. "That old coot? Why would anyone want to see him? He's just a grumpy old fool. We came here to see you and you alone!"
Moira Brown chuckled and looked at Snivy. "My my, I can tell your Snivy's already taken a liking to you." She offered her hand to Snivy. Snivy sniffed it for a while before bowing his head and allowing her to stroke his head. "He's really friendly too." She looked over Geki and laughed, "I'm sorry, I haven't introduced myself! I'm Moira Brown. Welcome to my home and Poke Mart!"
Geki shook the woman's hand and smiled, "I'm Geki Kitakyushu. I'm from Vault-"
She cut him off, "Kitakyushu? I knew you'd show up eventually! Your father was just here a week ago! Since you're here, I'll give you a discount on whatever you want as well as free Pokémon care! Don't try saying no, because I'll still give you it anyways! I'll also give you this." She went into a room next to her shop.
A mercenary stood outside the room and glared at Geki. "I've got my eye on you." Geki nodded his head, fearful that the man would shoot him if he did anything out of the ordinary.
Moira came back with a black and red device in her hands. She explained what it was, "Back before the wars, trainers carried one of these to name different Pokémon. They called it the Pokédex, and it had all the information anyone could need on every known Pokémon. This is the last one in the entire Unova region. Now, it's yours." She placed the device in Geki's hand. "Great! Now you can help me with my book, Pokémon and Wastelands!"
Geki scratched his head, "What is this supposed to be? A survival guide or something?"
Moira smiled, "It's just that! My first chapter involves finding a source of food when not in a community environment! Along the way to completing the guide, I need you to meet and record data on every single Pokémon here in Unova!"
Geki sighed. He remembered from his class studies that there were more than 600 Pokémon registered in the Unova region alone. But when the war came, Pokémon from different lands ended up in Unova as a result of soldiers bringing and losing them. Losing them as in its owner would be shot, eaten, or ripped apart by the enemy and his Pokémon. He looked at Moira and rolled his eyes. "You know that's practically useless, right?" She looked at him with hurt eyes as Geki continued to pound away at her dream, "Who out here will survive long enough to read a book? How is your book going to help out those out there already fighting for survival? You know what's going to happen? They will simply use it as fuel for fire so they can roast the Pachirisu they just found. Is that what you want your book to end up as? Because that's what it will be." Moira began crying as the realization set in. Geki just kept going with his philosophical hammer, "If you want to help people, tell them to come to Megaton. Tell them you are offering them a community." He patted Moira on the back. "That's all people want. They just want to be with other people. Now, I'll complete this Pokédex to the best of my abilities, but I need to get some potions for my journey."
Moriarty gave a grunt, "That's right, we still need to talk about dear old dad, don't we?"
Moira wiped the tears from her eyes and smiled, "Okay. I have super potions, antidotes, and all kinds of other stuff. Even some Pokéballs and Pokégear. I'll give you a little discount, too. And I'll heal up your Snivy to full strength!"
After spending half the caps that Lucas had given him, Geki left the shop. He felt bad for crushing her dream, but felt relieved for leaving her with a smile on her face. Moriarty grinned and looked down at Geki as they headed back for the town's gate, "Let's get your Snivy a friend as we talk more about your father."
