Viva La Revolution

Kiko looked down at her sweaty palms. She had just finished giving a celebratory speech honoring those who died during the uprising. The former Overseer was hanging next to her, a large break in his neck. The sight sickened Kiko so much that she had to stop mid-sentence and hold back a vomit. She just wanted to get off of that podium and get back to Dmitri and her Aron. After the battle, her Oshawott had evolved into a fierce-looking Dewott. The Pokémon stood proudly in front of the podium, looking over each and every person, ready to throw a Razor Shell at any one who looked like they would cause harm to his master.

As applause pierced her eardrums, she nearly ran off the stage. She didn't want any of the fame. She didn't care. She just wanted to get the Pokémon Soldiers out of the Vault and on Search and Rescue missions. And she, personally, wanted to get out and find her brother. Dmitri and a team of two Freedom Guards waited at the back of the stage. Dmitri smiled painfully, the large burn mark across his face from a Typhlosion's flamethrower attack had yet to heal. Neither had his blown off leg from a Salamence's Hyper Beam attack. "Good job girl. Let's get you out of here."

As the crew moved through the passage, Kiko gave the occasional nod to those who waved at her. She would have to get used to people knowing her now. Kiko diverted her attention from the people and back on Dmitri. "What's our current force size?"

Dmitri was peering through each and every person, just as loyal as Dewott. He grunted and said, "380 and counting. A hell of a lot more people are signing up now that they know Soldiers get to go outside the Vault."

Kiko nodded, "Alright, let's get a squad of Force Recon units outside to scan everything in a ten-mile radius. Then I want a division of DI's training the recruits on catching Pokémon and engaging in combat. Tell Force Recon that they are not to engage freely. Only fire when fired upon."

Dmitri grinned. "I doubt Force Recon will even fire a shot. They prefer not to. To them, lethal force is too easy and simple. They like to up the challenge."

Kiko sighed. Silly masochists. "Well they need to know the difference between a challenge and suicide. Let them know that."

"Yes ma'am." Dmitri nodded and opened the door to her new quarters, the Aquarium. Also known as the Overseer's Quarters. It was called the aquarium because of the dome like shape and the fact that it overlooked the entire lobby of the Vault. Kiko looked down at the hundreds of people as they began flowing out of the lobby. Some pointed up at her with a smile and waved, others simply nodded, but not a single person was afraid of the Overseer's presence like they used to be. Those times were over. The time of fearing those who controlled the Vault were done.

Kiko would make sure of that. But, she had yet to cover all the grey areas in her new government. And in any government, gray areas can be the downfall.

This stuck to the back of Kiko's mind as she looked at the small bundle of paperwork sitting in front of her. She could sign away all she wanted, but in the end, that bundle would just grow seemingly larger every hour. She sighed and dismissed her team of Freedom Guards, leaving just her and her Pokémon in the room.

Dewott stood firmly next to her, staring down the door. He was a tense Pokémon with a Timid nature. But, he had a fun side to him. As Dewott finally deemed the place clear and relaxed, Aron tackled him. Dewott gave a grunt as the hunk of metal body slammed into him. The two Pokémon gave a cheerful laugh as they wrestled each other. Dewott eventually won and laughed with Kiko as Aron struggled to flip himself over.

Kiko sighed at the sight. Is this what the world was like before the war? She cleared her head. The war was the last thing she wanted to think about. Instead, she helped out Aron and lifted the steel-type Pokémon off the ground. The Pokémon, while being encased in steel, was warm and soft at times when it was friendly. That's what Pokémon were about. Friendship.
