~Part 5~
"You're Bruce Wayne?" Abigail asked rubbing her wrists and seeing there are bruise's on her wrist's. "Yeah, listen," Said Bruce. "I'd rather not have you tell everyone my identity, okay?" "Who's?" Abigail asked folding her arms. "Bruce Wayne's? Or Batman's?" Abigail paused for a second to watch Bruce's expressions but he didn't show any sign of responding to her question.
"Sorry..." Abigail said rubbing the back of her head. "I'm just- well... I haven't talk to people in a while so... yeah, I'm sorry." Bruce only nodded then said. "Where do you live?" "No where, except the streets of Gotham." Said Abigail getting up off the table, her ankles started aching as she stood up. "Why aren't you in a foster home or Orphanage?" Bruce asked. "Read my records since you know everything else about me." Said Abigail observing the computer that Bruce was sitting in front of, then walking to a table with gear on it.
Bruce looked at the computer for a few seconds then looked back at Abigail. "I was just trying to find where you lived." Said Bruce. "So you could take me there when I was unconscious." Said Abigail picking up a batarang and observing it. "That's very clever. But didn't work out the way you planned, huh?" Abigail tapped a sharp part of the Batarang. "You still haven't answered my question." Said Bruce. "What's this?" Abigail asked showing Bruce the batarang. "It's a batarang, I use it as a distraction." Said Bruce standing up. "Why aren't you in a foster home or an Orphanage?" "You're not gonna let the question go are you?" Abigail asked, Bruce shook his head walking forward slowly.
"Okay then," Abigail said putting the batarang down and looking at the gear on the table. "Well, four months ago I was at a foster home, but I left." "You... left?" Bruce asked. "Yes." Said Abigail. "I was on my own for a month then a police officer found me then took me to an Orphanage. Didn't work out for them, I escaped with in a week. Two months later they put me in a top secured Orphanage then, I escaped in a week in a half. Quiet easily actually, figured they were going to make it harder."
"Why did you escape the Orphanage's?" Bruce asked. "I'd rather not get into that conversation right now." Said Abigail looking at Bruce in the most sincere look. "Two weeks later... Dr. Crane's idiotic thugs took me from my ally, then I was an experiment. Then you showed up and... well you saved me. I thank you for that, and now that I see... I owe you my life."
"You're welcome." Said Bruce. "But you owe me nothing." "Mr. Wayne you saved my life." Said Abigail turning around to face Bruce. "I owe you a debt, and I'm not gonna stop trying in till I repay it." "You owe me nothing." Bruce said again. "I can't go on living my life," Said Abigail. "knowing I owe someone a debt." Bruce was about to say something but was interrupted by the sound of the elevator. "Sir I-" Alfred then noticed Abigail was awake. "Alfred this is Abigail, and Abigail this is Alfred." Bruce introduced the two to each other. Abigail smiled as Bruce introduced her to Alfred without a problem.
"Nice to meet you, Alfred." Said Abigail. "Pleasure, miss Abigail." Said Alfred with a smile and nodded. Alfred whispered something to Bruce, probably something about me Abigail thought. "So I'm gonna make a lunch for two?" Alfred asked. "No I-" Abigail began. "Yes." Bruce said cutting in. Abigail looked at Bruce in surprise. "Alright then." Said Alfred going to the elevator. "Why?" Abigail asked. "You're hungry aren't you?" Bruce asked. "N... Yeah." Said Abigail feeling her stomach growl, she then placed her hand over her stomach. "Also I suggest you to stay in till I catch Dr. Crane." Said Bruce.
"I'll be fine." Said Abigail. "I can take care of myself and-" "Do you really think Crane is going to stop?" Bruce asked. "Once he finds you again he'll use you all over again. This place is safe, you should stay here in till he's caught." "I don't know..." Said Abigail unsure of his idea. "Don't I already have the antidote?"
"Yes, but this time he'll try to get around it." Said Bruce. "And he could kill you if it doesn't work." Abigail thought about this for a moment and was sure Dr. Crane was crazy enough to do that. "Fine!" Said Abigail. "I'll stay, in till Scarecrow, er... Crane is caught." Something then caught Abigail's eye. "What's that?" "It's a grapple gun." Said Bruce picking it up. "How does it work?" Abigail asked. "Well..." Bruce began. Bruce explained each of the gadgets that Abigail picked up and showed Bruce.
Abigail walked to the Batmobile astonishingly, she looked at Bruce then looked at it again. "This-This is... yours?" Abigail asked in surprise but excitement. "Yeah." Said Bruce. "It's amazing!" Said Abigail rubbing her arms since she's getting cold from the mist of the waterfall. "I want to drive it..." "Um... no you cannot drive it." Said Bruce with a laugh. "Worth a shot..." Said Abigail with a smile.
"So you hacked Gotham security just to look for where I was, huh?" Abigail asked leaning against the Batmobile. Bruce nods. "And they never know they've been hacked?" Bruce nods and walks back to the computer and shuts it down. "What're you doing?" Abigail asked. "You're getting cold, we need to head upstairs." Said Bruce. "Okay, thanks." Said Abigail relieved they were going to leave the Batcave.
Bruce took off his armor, Bruce wore a gray T-shirt and regular sweat pants. Abigail rubbed her temple's as she was getting a headache. "You okay?" Bruce asked. "Yeah, I think so." Abigail responded putting her hand down quickly. "I just-" Abigail for some reason thought of her dad, she doesn't know why, she then frowned. Abigail noticed the look of concern on Bruce's face and quickly said. "I'm just... cold."
"Let's get you in the elevator." Bruce said gesturing for Abigail to follow. Abigail looks around then nods, Abigail follows Bruce into the elevator. As they were going up Abigail was still acting strange, she looked as if she was going to cry but she then pulled herself together. "What's bothering you?" Bruce asked. "Nothing, nothing is bothering me." Abigail said quicker then she wanted to.
Since she said it quick, Bruce knew there was something wrong and decided not to bother her with it. The elevator door's opened and Abigail saw a piano, some chairs, and bookcases. "Nice." Said Abigail exiting the elevator with Bruce. As if sensing Abigail's and Bruce's presence, Alfred walked into the room. "Alfred, can you show Abigail to a room and see if we got any clothes for her?" Bruce asked, but Abigail knew it was more a command then a question. "Of course sir." Alfred said with a smile. "This was miss Abigail." Alfred said turning and walking out of the same doorway.
Abigail gladly followed, he took her up a flight of stairs and down a hall, and then through a door. "This is going to be your room." Alfred said opening the door wide open for Abigail. "Wow." Abigail said astonished. "Would you like me to get you a towel and a robe?" Alfred asked. "Um... yeah, sure, I guess." Abigail answered, she never had anyone serve her before, so this was really weird for Abigail.
"Alright, I'll be right back." Alfred said with a nod and closed the door behind him. Abigail smiled then turned around to observe her temporary room. A four-poster bed with a golden looking frame is in the middle of the room. The comforter is beige and nicely spread on the bed, there is two light brown bedside table's on each side of the bed. With a golden lamp on each one, the lamps have a white top with golden rose vine print.
There is a nice rug spread out on the floor (on top of brown wood) that is white with golden rose vine print just like the lamps had, there are two floor to ceiling windows next to each bedside table. One of the windows had a small bed type looking area to sit at, it's dark brown, looks as if it was a the bottom of a couch made into a window with three small pillows on the right.
On the left wall there is a dresser with a rectangular mirror on top and on the right wall there is a cabinet for hanging coats and/or dresses with a door to the bathroom on the left of it, Abigail assumed. Abigail flinched as Alfred knocked then entered the room. "Sorry, did I startle you?" Alfred asked, the expression on his face indicated that he was about to laugh.
"A little, but I don't mind." Said Abigail smiling back, Abigail saw a white robe and towel in his right arm nicely folded. "Here is your robe and your towel." Alfred said walking to the bed and placing it nicely on top of it. "Miss Abigail, we only have a clean shirt, but don't have the right size of pants for you." Alfred informed Abigail. "I might have to clean your pants when you are washing up."
"Okay." Abigail said with a nod. "Oh and Alfred, you can call me Gail. My mo- er... I prefer being called that." "Of course Miss Gail." Alfred said smiling. "And what would you like for lunch?" Abigail thought for a moment. "I guess whatever is being made." Abigail responded. "Are you allergic to any type of foods?" Alfred asked. "Haven't eaten anything that I'm allergic to yet, so I'm not sure." Abigail answered.
Alfred nodded and pointed to the door next to the cabinet dresser. "That is the bathroom." Said Alfred. "Just leave your clothes there and I'll take care of it." Abigail nodded, Alfred left and closed the door. Abigail was a little uneasy, she was never use to this life style and she felt to weird, she doesn't know what to think. It's only temporary. Abigail thought. Think of it as some kind of... vacation!
Abigail then walked quickly to the bathroom, grabbing her towel and the robe as she made her way to the bathroom, eager to get clean. The bathroom is amazing, one of the best looking bathrooms ever. Looks like no one has even touched it. Her headache is gone now, she is relieved it's gone. She quickly got undressed and put her clothes outside the bathroom door, she jumped into the warm bath water. Savoring every moment in the bath, it felt nice to be able to get clean.
She was probably in the bath for thirty minutes, she got out and dried off. She put on her robe tightly, making sure nothing was showing that anyone shouldn't see. She saw a brush on the bathroom table and brushed her hair quickly, felt great to be clean again. She exited the bathroom and saw the shirt Alfred said he would get her, she looked by the ground and saw that Alfred has gotten her clothes to go clean.
Abigail seriously wanted her clothes back, she didn't feel right with only just a robe on. She chewed on her thumbnail softly as she didn't know what to do for her spare time in a room. There is a knock on the door and a muffle of Alfred's voice. "Are you dressed in your robe?" Alfred's voice asked muffling through the door. "Uh... yeah." Abigail answered not really knowing how to respond.
Alfred opened the door, Abigail made sure she was completely covered. Alfred placed the clothes on the dresser with the mirror. "Here are your clothes." Alfred quickly said. "Meet me down stairs after you are done getting dressed so you can eat lunch." "Okay, thanks Alfred." Said Abigail. "No thanks necessary." Alfred said as he left quickly.
Abigail sighed and grabbed her clothes, they are normal color again. They aren't covered in dirt anymore, she sighed with relief, she walked into the bathroom. She quickly get's dressed into her gray hoodie, black t-shirt, and blue jeans. She looks at the time, it's already two o'clock. When did I wake up? Abigail asked herself in her thoughts. She shook off the question and then ran down stairs.
"Hi Alfred." Abigail said as she spotted Alfred by the stairs. "Follow me." Said Alfred. Abigail gladly followed as she felt like she hasn't eaten in weeks. As they entered the dinning room Abigail saw Bruce sitting at the table. "I see that you are feeling better." Said Bruce as Abigail sat down at the table. "Much better, thanks." Said Abigail with a heavenly sigh.
Bruce nods and takes a sip of his drink. Abigail doesn't understand why people are always so worried about talking to Bruce or rich people in general, because the way she see's it, he's just your typical guy. "What made you do it?" Abigail suddenly asked. "Do what?" Bruce asked. "Well... be Batman, what made you do it?" Abigail asked.
"As you possibly know, my parents died when I was young." Said Bruce, Abigail nodded to assure him that she knows. "Of course being young I was very depressed, but over the years my depression turned into anger toward the man who killed my parents. I felt as though I'd really never be happy, I seeked revenge on the man, I almost killed him on the day they were going to release him."
"But someone else beat me to it, so my friend Rachel at the DA office started driving me home. I was talking about Justice, thinking Revenge and Justice could be the same. Rachel and I did a small little argument, she showed me where Falcone is, I almost killed him also. Then after what Falcone and Rachel said to me about justice, revenge, and the true struggle in life. I left, learning what Justice and what struggle actually felt like."
"You were going to kill them out of anger?" Abigail asked. "Yes, I was thinking it was justice then, but now I know that it was revenge." Bruce answered, Alfred came in with the lunch. "I was only trying to make myself feel better." Alfred placed the platter's down in front of Bruce and Abigail. "Thanks Alfred." Abigail said in a voice that was almost a whisper. "You're welcome." Said Alfred.
Alfred exited the room, Abigail took the lid off of her platter, it's soup. Abigail sniffed the soup, it made her mouth water. Next to her soup is a six-inch loaf of bread to dip into the soup. "So, how long was I out?" Abigail asked after a couple spoonful's of her soup. "Three days." Bruce answered after swallowing the soup he had in his mouth, Abigail's eye's widened with shock.
"Did you ever have to feel the effects of the fear gas?" Abigail asked staring into her soup. "Yeah." Bruce answered. "If you don't mind me asking... what did you see?" Abigail asked a little hesitant. "Bats and my parents death." Bruce answered like there was nothing to it. "Oh... you're afraid of bats?" Abigail asked. "I always have been, but I have learned how to adapt to that fear." Said Bruce.
"I don't think I'll ever get over my fear." Said Abigail grabbing the small loaf of bread. "What are your fears?" Bruce asked. "Spiders, Cockroaches, being killed with knifes, and..." Abigail stopped, she didn't want to say the next thing out loud. "And?" Bruce asked. Abigail then thought of her father dying that one night, she had tears welling up in her eye's. She shook her head, she couldn't say it.
Bruce looked at her in concern. "I'm fine." Abigail quickly said as she held back the tears. "I... I'm not very hungry." Bruce nodded, he knew what she was going to say, but left it alone. She got up from her seat and walked back up to her room, she doesn't want to cry, she can't, she doesn't want anyone to be concerned. Tears she's been holding back for months are trying to break through, but she tries to keep it in.
She entered her room, her eye's feeling as they are gonna blow up. That's it, she's gonna cry, she can't hold it back any longer. If she does, she's afraid she's gonna blow up, at least that is how she feels what will happen. She walked to her bed slowly, wrapping her arms on her stomach, she was shaking so badly from keeping in the tears. She sat on her bad, breathing hard, trying to keep it in, nope, it's no use... she has to cry.
She slowly started lying down on her side, she then buried her face in a pillow nearby and started to cry and screaming into the pillow. Letting all the anger out into the pillow, all the pain, all the stress, and the depression out, after months of keeping it in she had to do it. She know's Bruce and Alfred can hear her, but now she can care less that they do. All she want's to do right now is cry and scream into the pillow, just let it all out.
