Me: I only own my characters, and beware this chapter is pretty dark. You have been warned!
Castiel frowned when he spotted the warehouses that were on the edge of town. They looked intimidating as they loomed over the car. Castiel opened the door and Demon hopped out. Mo and Lysander stepped out of the car and watched as Castiel knelt and rubbed his dog's head.
"Are you sure this will work, Castiel?" Mo asked with her hands intertwined. Castiel could hear the fear in the older woman's voice.
"I'm sure, Demon's nose is awesome and he liked Lexus." Castiel let Demon sniff the shirt and Demon barked, his nose pointing at the buildings. Castiel released him from the leash and ran after Demon. Lysander and Mo followed, unknowing that Tom was watching from one of the warehouses.
"Distract them." The men nodded and stepped out.
I was sitting in the corner, hugging my knees to my chest and I was rocking. I shivered slightly and rubbed my arms. I grumbled about how cold it was as I hugged myself tighter. I looked up when the door opened and my dad stepped through with a smirk on his face.
"Well Lexus, it's time for us to go." I stood and regraded him.
"Where are we going?" I didn't like the smirk on his face one bit.
"We're going back to the city." I shook my head.
"I'm staying here." I said firmly. He frowned.
"You don't have a choice in the matter, Lia, you're coming home and that's final."
"Go to hell!" He growled. He grabbed my wrist and pulled me in, covering my mouth with his free hand. I thrashed around, screaming into his hand and flailing my legs, trying hard to make it difficult for him. When we stepped out of the door, I bit him. My dad yowled in pain and I broke his grip, running off in a random direction.
"Lia!" He yelled. I didn't look back or stop. I sharply turned right and hid. I heard him run passed me and I breathed. When I was sure that he was long gone, I ran the other way and got attacked by a very familiar dog.
"Demon! I'm glad to see you." I laughed as he started to lick my face.
"Demon! Down!" Demon backed off and I wiped the dog spit from my face. I looked up to see Castiel dashing up and I hugged him tightly.
"You have no idea how glad I am to see you, Cas." I told him as he hugged me back.
"I'm just glad that you're okay." He pulled me to my feet and I shivered again. Castiel took his coat off and put it on my shoulders.
"Thanks." He grunted and rubbed Demon's head.
"Come on." He took my hand and pulled me down one of the halls with Demon trailing behind us.
The walk was totally quiet. I kept glancing at Castiel as we walked. I felt like I was being stonewalled by him.
"Castiel? Can you say something? This silence is killing me slowly." He chuckled at my attempt at humor.
"Well, Mo told me and Lysander about what happened to your mom." I frowned.
"Oh, did she tell you that I hated her and didn't care that she was dead." He glanced back at me.
"Yea, she did. Lysander said it was cold." My frown deepened.
"Do you think I'm heartless because of that?"
"Well no," He stopped and turned. I noted that he was squeezing the hand that he was holding.
"I don't really blame you for being glad that she was gone. She did treat you like you were shit." I gave him a look.
"Thank you for summing that up." He smirked.
"My point is, I don't blame you for being so cold. With me or towards your mom." I squeezed his hand back.
"Thanks Cas." He nodded once and kept pulling me gently along. It was silent again but it wasn't an awkward silence. It was more of a content silence, one that I didn't mind having at all between us. After a little bit, I was starting to feel confused. All the corridors looked the same.
"Cas? Do you know where we're going?" I asked unsteady. Castiel stopped and glanced around. Demon trotted up next to him and sniffed the air. I lifted an eyebrow when Demon began to growl. Castiel took notice to this and lifted an eyebrow also.
"Demon?" We both stiffened when we heard the sound of a gun loading. Neither of us dared to breathe or move a muscle.
"Turn around, slowly and let me see your hands." Castiel and I lifted our hands and we turned to see my father pointing a gun at us.
"Let go of her hand." He ordered curtly. Castiel did as he said and my dad grabbed my wrist and pulled me behind him. Then he pointed the gun back at Castiel.
"You're becoming a pain, boy." Castiel didn't make a sarcastic remark. He just stood with his hands up and Demon growled. I glanced to the side to see a four by four lying abandoned on the ground. I slowly picked it up and Castiel caught my eye.
'Please don't give me away.' I thought desperately. I swallowed, readying the plank like a bat. With a yell, I hit my dad in theback. He fell and Castiel looked at me with wide eyes. I smirked as I tossed the plank to the side.
"Don't fuck with me." Castiel chuckled, shaking his head.
"You never cease to surprise me, Lexus." I stepped over my dad and let Castiel take me away from him. Demon trailed behind us and silence fell between us as we walked. Suddenly a gun shoot sounded and Castiel was clutching his bleeding arm. I turned to see my dad with a crazy look in his eyes. The hand that was holding the gun was trembling. His other hand was on the wall and holding him up.
"Dad..." I whispered in fear. I had never seen him so mad. He looked like a lost animal that was trapped in a corner with no way out. While I felt fear seeing him like that, Castiel on the other hand lost his temper.
"Can't you see that your daughter is happy here?! You only want her back because you want something familiar back! You missed out on the wonderful girl that your daughter became without you." Castiel's speech seemed to get to my dad because his eyes widened.
"Y-You're right..." Castiel pulled me closer and glared at my dad. What surprised us both was when my dad turned the gun to his head.
"Goodbye, Lexus."
"No!" I screamed. In a moment, Castiel hid my face in his chest as the gun went off. There was a dull thud and Castiel just stood there, holding on to me. I looked to see that my dad was lying face down on the ground. I took a shaking breath and Castiel buried my face into his shoulder and hugged me close. Quick footsteps coming towards us sounded and I looked up to see my auntie and Lysander running towards us.
"We heard gun shots." Lysander said, short of breath. Castiel displayed his arm and Lysander's eyes widened when he spotted the still body of my father.
"Lexus..." Lysander breathed. I felt him gently touch my shoulder and I looked at him with sad eyes.
"Come on, Mo is worried about you." I just nodded and wordlessly followed. Castiel just held me close as we walked. I dared to glance back at my father's body. Now I felt like a heavy weight had been lifted off my shoulders, I was finally free.
