Looking out the carriage window I see the dark scenery passing by. The trees a black blur against the dark sky, the stars strangely absent this evening, and the only light available by the moon hidden behind the trees. Between the scarce light from outside and the bumpy road i can barely make out what my slightly crumpled letter says.

Dearest Alina,

I am so sorry I can't be there for you but by the time you read this I will have died from my sickness. You are probably wondering why I made you leave in such a hurry but you being who you are I couldn't risk your safety any longer. Hopefully you followed my instructions and are now traveling to the safety my brother can provide. I am so sorry that your mother and I couldn't be there for you anymore but never thought that we loved you with all our hearts. Enclosed in the letter is your mother's necklace with our wedding rings attached.

Love with all my heart,

Your father,

Fredrick Frankenstein.

Crushing the letter in my hand I looked out the window and understood all too well what he meant about my safety.

It was my fifth birthday and I realized I had pointer teeth then normal so I decided to pretend I was a vampire, at least until my parents found out what I was doing and told me to never do it again.

The carriage stopped and I vaguely realized we were there,

I was seven and I could out run everyone,

I had gotten out of the carriage and I was walking to the castle,

when I was eight I found out I was stronger then everyone when mom collapsed in the garden and I carried her back into the house for dad to take care of her since he was a doctor but she died a couple days later from malaria

I was at the door knocking,

it was a couple days after mom died and dad was telling me I was half vampire and people would kill me if they found out so I had to hide it,

a man opened the door and for a second I thought it was my father,

it was a couple of years after mom had died and dad had fallen ill. Walking into dad's room I saw dad lying on the bed, seeing me he whispered "come here." walking over to the bed he shoved a letter into my hands and said "leave now! Take the horse to town and get a carriage to take you to Transylvania where my brother Victor Frankenstein lives.

"Who are you?" the man asked.

"Alina Frankenstein, your niece."
