Chapter 4
"Princess?"
That was all Dimitri could manage to get out.
After all, he was in shock.
"What?" Asked Lissa, looking at him as if he was mad. He probably was.
"I – I'm so… Do you know who I am?" He asked finally.
Lissa laughed a little, with a confused look.
"I'm not getting the joke." She said. Not from his world then.
"Yeah, me neither." Said another familiar voice behind her.
At the sound of the voice he heard Little-Rose move. He turned to face her and saw that she had recognized the voices of the people who had just arrived. Then he saw a smile appear in her face as the second person came into view.
It was Christian Ozera.
And he also looked like an 18 year-old person and not like a 6 years-old one. So then why was Rose the way she was?
The boy walked to where little-Rose was seated and – nodding briefly to Dimitri – knelt in front of the girl. Rose looked up – but didn't meet his eyes – and, with a big smile on her face, she raised her arms to Christian.
The boy picked her up and held her close. He was also smiling.
Dimitri was – just a little bit – astonished. Jaw–wide–open kind of astonished. He felt like his head could explode at any second.
He summarized the events.
He had taken Rose for a walk to the park, because her parents wanted some time on their own. He had been able to look right into little-Rose's eyes, but then she had thrown a rock at him for doing so. Then suddenly there was a 17 year-old Lissa in this world, but she wasn't a princess. There also was a Christian that looked like he was from Dimitri's world, but he actually wasn't – this one liked Rose. And Rose…
Well Rose was another story.
But anyway – Rose liked Christian also!
Dimitri – still with his mouth open – watched the two of them interact. The boy tickling the girl, the girl laughing, – yes, laughing – Christian making funny faces so that the girl could laugh, and finally, the girl meeting his eyes when he asked her to do so.
He was brought out of his shock by Lissa's laugh beside him.
He turned to her and saw how happy she looked. She was completely concentrated in the two persons in front of her, and you could actually see the love she had for them in her eyes.
Dimitri felt awe towards the blond girl once more. She was an angel, surely. And she had saved him.
Dimitri started to relax then, and he turned back so that he too, could watch Christian and Rose.
Suddenly Rose stopped laughing abruptly and after looking sternly at the sky she had – to Dimitri's shock (again) – hit Christian in the face.
The victim – who apparently was used to this kind of treatment – put the girl down and told her something about not hitting him again when she wanted out of his arms, while Lissa laughed at them. But Dimitri instead, was paying attention to Rose, who had walked back to where she had been before Lissa and Christian's appearance. She had built something with some rocks and branches.
It looked like a catapult.
The little girl positioned a big rock in it, just as the sun hit Lissa in a special way. Then she pressed something and the rock went flying.
Straight to Lissa's face.
Or so Dimitri had thought. Because right at the moment he tried to stop the rock, he saw another one coming to Lissa. Then both of them collapsed – neither hitting the girl.
Christian was beside Lissa in two seconds – who was standing with hes eyes opened wide and filled with shock.
"Go back to your sanatorium, you crazy bitch!" Someone yelled at Lissa.
The girl's eyes were filled with tears, and she hid herself in Christian's chest – who at the moment had a murderous look in his eyes.
Meanwhile, little-Rose grabbed another rock and positioned in her device, angling it to where the voice had come. And just two seconds before she threw the rock, she was stopped by Lissa.
"Thank you for saving me again, Rose." She told her with a hand on her shoulder, a sad smile on her face, and her eyes full of love and gratitude.
Dimitri saw how little-Rose met Lissa's eyes. He also saw tears in them.
Infuriated, Dimitri walked toward the guy who had yelled those horrible things at Lissa.
The guy looked a bit scared when he saw Dimitri coming. He grabbed him by the neck of his jacked and looked at him with fury.
"If you ever dare to do something like that to Lissa again, I swear I'll cut your hands and tongue in the most painful way you can imagine." Dimitri growled the guy – who looked like he was about to wet his pants at any minute – and then punched him, throwing him to the floor as if he weighted nothing.
Dimitri was so mad he wanted to punch the guy over and over again until his knuckles hurt.
Suddenly there was a shy hand that touched his leg.
Turning down, he saw little-Rose standing beside him.
She raised her face to him, and though her eyes went to look up at the sky, Dimitri saw sadness in them.
And fear.
Dimitri gasped as he realized what he had done in front of her.
"We should go." Christian said, very close to where they were standing.
Lissa nodded, and after hugging Rose and Dimitri, she walked away with Christian – who had also said thanks to Rose for saving his girlfriend and goodbye to Dimitri.
Dimitri started after them, and after a few more minutes of thinking he decided it was time to head home. He turned to look at the guy on the floor.
"You're Belikov, aren't you?" Asked the guy.
Dimitri, instead of answering, picked Rose in his arms and turned the other way.
"You know," Said the guy after they'd walked a few steps. "I heard you babysit that girl with autism. Hathaway, I think?" He continued as Dimitri tried to ignore him. "Well, I happen to be friends with her doctor, and maybe during her next visit she –
Dimitri – who had been so close to go back and punch the guy again – heard a small scream followed by a thud as he turned around.
The guy had been knocked down.
And Rose no longer had a rock in her hands.
Dimitri grinned to Rose and laughed at the guy before heading home.
He just hoped that Abe and Janine were finished with their activities.
