The Crescent Moon sets.
The sun cascades over our camp.
Two stone pillars, we sleep in the crevices.
Shelter in the shallow caves.
They reach as high as the oaks themselves.
And oaks we have, forever guardians to us.
Sparse undergrowth, yet enough.
Mice, voles, but mainly squirrels.
By the field the occasional rabbit.
Hidden an abandoned barn.
Filled with mice.
But be warned of their bigger cousins.
Near the border of birches, there a pond.
We splash, we swim.
Our pastime is fishing, though not quite a favorite for the pile.
Head toward the twoleg place,
You might find.
Our loner friend who's helped us many a time.
The morning comes and our camp awakes.
Dawn patrol, full of grumbling cats,
Set off already.
Now two hunting patrols, and possible another border.
The mentors take their apprentices to train,
In a sandy clearing right under our nose.
Swipe. Duck. Swipe. Duck.
The dawn patrol returns as the sun shines bright.
Followed shortly by the others.
Now the sun is high.
Searing our pelts.
We hide in the shade of the oaks.
Finally the heat lets up.
More patrols are sent for our clan must be protected and fed.
Just as the sun sinks they return.
Carrying good fortune.
We feast as our kits play.
They've heard the story of our creation.
Our families are safe.
We are safe.
Finally, one.
Finally, together.
We are the cats of the Forest.
For all will fall,
If we don't stand together.
But now our darkest years have come.
For we made many an enemy on the journey.
Left, only three that can turn the rising tides.
One kin. One rogue. One stranger.
The black raven will warn the rest.
The wild spirit will renew their strength.
And as the frost melts everything will become new.
But the paws of danger always lurks.
To make claim its forever curse.
Nothing has been set in stone.
Nothing ever will be.
For three will face three.
Two must unite.
For Together We Stand.
Together We Fight.
