Chapter 6

*..*..*..*..*

Upon the end of the call, Misaki stared at her smart phone's screen. She wondered what Usui is worried about. Is she in danger? What is endangering her? What is it that Usui knew and she didn't?

Shoving her smart phone into her pocket, Misaki hastened towards the closest store; at least she should listen to him currently.

'After I find out what's happening, you'll not get off lightly' Misaki mentally addressed her threat to Usui. To her, buying unnecessary loads of grocery was an unforgivable crime.

Misaki entered a music store. She roamed around, looking at the albums that were offered for sale. She sighed; she didn't recognize any musicians, not even one band.

'Am I really that old fashioned?'She wondered as she turned her attention to a fair sized poster which was hanging on the wall. A certain blonde vocalist and his band were the theme of the poster. Beneath the poster lies a stand which displayed copies of UxMishi's album for sale.

A smile appeared on Misaki's face.

'I know a band in person; wouldn't that cover my ignorance about music?' She thought, and then an awkward feeling crept towards her; she felt someone was staring at her.

Misaki looked at the source of the intense stares. The stares came from a middle aged man. He was working in the store, that's what his attire indicated. His skin was so pale she doubted if he was a normal human. He was grey-haired although he wasn't that old. The way he stared at Misaki was creepy.

Misaki attempted to ignore him, and then her smart phone rang. Her heart thumped as she saw the caller ID.

"Where are you?" Usui panted as soon as Misaki answered the call.

"What's wrong? You know I can beat ten men in a blink of an eye, why are you worried?" She asked in a half joking manner, confided in her aikido skills.

"Where are you?" he repeated, not caring to comment on her words; he was frightened out of his wits. Yes, she is a tough girl, but what if who was stalking her is armed? What if it was a gang?

What do they want from them? Usui didn't want to imagine the other presumption; which is the relevance of this crisis to the incident that took place on the island.

"I'm at the music store by the subway station." Misaki answered, throwing her questions away. Usui never ignored what she was saying before.

'What was it?' for a moment, Misaki forgot all her surroundings. She only wanted to know what's happening.

"I'm almost there. Is there anything odd?" Usui asked, seeking indication that she is safe.

The word 'odd' reminded Misaki of the fishy man who was staring at her. She looked at him, and just as she thought, he was still looking at her non-stop. Although their eyes met, he didn't avert his eyes. He sent chilliness into her.

"Misaki?" Usui called, worried because he didn't receive any response.

"I'm leaving this store" She murmured, a bit afraid of the man seeing that he didn't take his eyes off of her at all.

"No, don't. What's wrong?" He asked, noting fear in her voice.

"You'll find me at the… Ahh!" The line was cut after Usui heard her cry.

"Misaki!" Usui yelled, cursing under his breath.

"Misaki!" Usui shouted as he entered the music store, his sight roamed around the place. When he finally spotted Misaki, he fumed with rage; a strange man held her from her waist.

Usui stepped onwards in order to free her. In an instant, the middle-aged man was laying motionlessly on the ground after he had received a punch on his back that pushed him forward, enabling Misaki a better approach to his waist in order to give him a suplex.

Usui's efforts weren't needed. Usui was bewildered; a suplex wasn't an Aikido move. When did she learn it?

Misaki gathered her smart phone's pieces that were scattered on the ground, held the bewildered Usui's hand, and ran away from the store.

"W…what was that about?" Usui asked as soon as they halted.

"I tripped… and he held me to prevent my fall" Misaki explained.

"If he helped you, why was he sent brutally to the floor?" Usui asked, raising an eyebrow although he wasn't interested in the reason. He was relieved that she is okay.

"Well, I couldn't help it; he was creepy. I never thought anyone can be more pervert than you" She stated, shivering a bit as she remembered the man's stares.

Her shivers faded and were replaced by a deep blush; Usui held her close to him with his arms. She felt safety and warmth top up her heart.

For a moment, Usui thought Misaki had been snatched away from him. He didn't want to experience that feeling again; he held her tightly.

"Then is it okay for this level of pervert person to hold you?" He whispered, taken by surprise due to how tightly she wrapped her arms around his waste.

"Shut up" Misaki murmured, burying her face in his chest. Her heart was beating fast. She wondered if the fast pace of her heart beats was due to her fear, or the fact that Usui was holding her.

"I want you to live with me"

Hearing that, Misaki separated herself from Usui and instantly backed out, forming a meter and a half distance between them.

"Eh?"

Was all that she could utter; what is he saying out of blue?

He laughed at her cuteness and repeated himself:"I want you to live with me"

She blushed deeper as the words started to sink in. "L…l…live with you… as… l…live with y…you?" she stuttered, absolutely making no sense.

"Yes" Usui simply confirmed.

"I...isn't that too soon? Relationships go through steps and…" She stammered her explanation, not daring to look at him. She was similar to a little child, gluing the tips of her index fingers together sheepishly.

"So you finally admit we are in a relationship" Usui said, a big grin appeared on his face.

Annoyed, Misaki stumped angrily down the road. She stopped when she remembered why she was out to begin with.

She turned, returned to where Usui stood, and opened her mouth, ready to rebuke him, but her rebuking words never left her throat; the serious, worried look on Usui's face made her relent immediately.

"What's wrong?" She asked, her heart started racing as each silent moment that elapsed.

"I decided…" Usui said in determination, making Misaki wonder what he was talking about. Her questioning look was enough to urge him to clarify his point.

"I'm going to live with you"

Misaki blinked a couple of times as a response to Usui's words; his words made no sense.

"If you don't want to live with me, I'll live with you" he stated. A smirk danced on his face.

"heh… hahaha. This joke went too far. I'm going home." She said in disbelieve, turned, and started walking.

She didn't believe it at first, but she heard Usui's footsteps behind her, very close; he was following her.

She didn't dare to face him, for if she did, she would be sure he is the one following her. She wanted to clinch to the hope that the footsteps voice belonged to one of the passing people.

However, she still needed to confirm his existence somehow, so she stopped, the footsteps voice disappeared. She picked up her pace, and the pace of steps' voice was hastened too. She dropped her pace, and the pace of the voice was slowed down too.

She sighed; what was she doing? It's Usui without a doubt. She didn't need to look nor play 'mimic me' to be sure. She ignored the fact that he is following her and kept walking on her way towards home.

Misaki stopped in front of her home door, and Usui did the same. She faced him, asking:"Where are you going?"

"Into your house?" Usui said slyly.

"Did you hit your head or something?" She asked, raising an eye brow. Usui looked at her blankly.

"Are you going to live here?" she doubted her own words. It was hard to believe.

'I'm joking' she waited for him to say these two magical words and then return to his Condo.

"It's rude to leave a guest, especially your lover, waiting at the door" he stated and knocked the door.

Suzuna opened the door. Usui's existence took her by surprise; it wasn't a time anyone would visit.

Misaki stood behind Usui. She was waving to Suzuna in a warning manner. She attempted to transmit the message: 'Don't invite him in'

Suzuna pretended not to see her sister's efforts and stood aside, forming a space for Usui to enter.

"Sorry for disturbing at such a late hour" Usui said.

Hearing Usui's voice, Minako; Misaki's mother appeared in order to welcome him.

"Ah, Usui! Welcome!"

Misaki, who was still standing at the door, gave in and entered the house.

*..*..*..*..*

"You didn't have to buy grocery for us. Thank you so much" Minako said as she served the tea to Usui.

"Don't mention it. I want Misaki to eat well. She had a hard time looking after me"

Misaki joined her family and Usui, reluctantly laying a dish of cookies on the table.

"I'm sorry for coming at this hour. Actually, I came here because I need your help" Usui said seriously. He seemed troubled.

Suzuna, Misaki and Minako gave Usui their full attention, urging him to talk.

"I… I have no place to stay in for now" He said, averting his eyes, and ignoring Misaki's bewildered look.

"What do you mean?" Suzuna asked.

"The landlord turned me out due to the late rent payment. I don't know why my parents didn't send the money to my account yet. I can't get in touch with them" Usui said woefully.

He had a pure sad face that Misaki by no means believed; she is the one who went to pay the rent when Usui left the hospital. He asked her to prepay three months. He still has two months left.

She was about to object and dispel his lie, but much to her mischief, her mother said:"oh, although you were going through a hard time, you still spent your money on grocery for us? Don't worry; you can stay here as much as you want. The house is not fancy, but it should be cozy"

Misaki stared at her mother, transfixed; was her mother believing him AND sympathizing with him?

Misaki was trying to think straight in order to find a way to escape from this predicament.

"you can sleep in my room, I'll sleep in my mother's room" Suzuna said, arising in order to clean her room for him.

That's when Misaki realized she was defeated by Usui again, and he is really going to stay at her house.
