A/N: Is it the last chapter already? Wow, this was fast. Anyway! It's been fun guys, thanks for sticking around!

"Makoto?"

Makoto looked up from the desk, shuffling the story papers. He noticed the classroom went awfully quiet, but he didn't think much of it. It sounded like there was water dripping and it seemed to echo throughout the room. "Yes, Haru?"

"I have to say something about the ending to that story." Haruka said, voice deadpan.

Haruka turned around and smiled. There was a hole in the side of his head, blood dripping on the floor.

"There is no happy ending."

"Haru!"

Makoto screamed and shot up in bed. His breathing was heavy and he was scared. It felt like the world was collapsing in on him, crushing him. He put a hand to his face, noticing he was sweating. Makoto was shaking hard, unable to comprehend what was happening.

"H-Haru?" Makoto picked up his phone from the side table. He called Haruka's number, but there was no answer. He tried again.

"We're sorry, this number is not available. If you'd like to ca-"

Makoto started to sob. 'So it is true. They all are dead.' He thought. He had woken up from a horrible nightmare, convinced his friends were still alive. They were all so happy, they had loved who they wanted to, and every awful thing Makoto did was forgiven. But now, it was all gone. Everyone was dead, nobody got to love anyone, and Makoto still was guilty of multiple sins.

Makoto looked at the clock. It was three in the morning. He sighed and looked at his bag. It still contained the jackets of the deceased, and Makoto planned on returning them to their families as soon as morning came. Makoto had gone straight home, afraid to go to the police, thinking that they would blame Makoto for the deaths of his friends. His parents welcomed him home and hugged and cried with him. He had explained what had happened, and his parents nodded and listened. They didn't cry, but he saw Ren and Ran whispering to each other.

Makoto sighed and lay back, pulling a picture of his friends back up on his phone. He sat it next to him so the picture of his friends could put him to sleep. The picture was so clear and everyone looked so happy in the picture. Makoto knew it was the last thing connecting him to his friends.

When he woke up, Makoto took the phone and looked at the picture again. It seemed a little more faded than it did earlier, which seemed odd. Makoto shrugged and put it in his pocket. He told his parents good bye, and that he was going by his friends' houses to return the belongings, apologize, and report to the police. He grabbed his bag, which seemed lighter, and headed out.

On the walk to the first stop, Haruka's house, Makoto noticed the bag seemed to get lighter. He knew Haruka's parents weren't there, so he'd call and tell from Haruka's house phone. It would seem awful to not be there for when your son died, but Makoto had to tell them. When he went to open the usually unlocked door, he found out it was locked. He knocked on the door, wondering if his parents came home in the news that Haruka went missing.

A young lady opened the door and stared at Makoto. "Yes?" She held a small towel in her hands. She had black hair and blue eyes, like Haruka's mother.

"H-hi. Are you Haruka's mother?" Makoto's voice quivered.

The woman tilted her head. "Who's that?"

Makoto wondered if he had the wrong address. "You're Mrs. Nanase, right?" He asked. He broke into a sweat.

The lady chuckled and when she noticed he was serious, she looked at him solemnly. "I-I'm sorry. I am, but I don't have a child named Haruka."

Makoto took a step back. "W-what?"

She looked down at the ground and smiled. "I'm unable to fertilize, so I can't have children. I actually did want to name one of my children Haruka. Odd that you're looking for someone named Haruka! I hope you find them. I'm sorry, but I have to go now." She tried to close the door, but Makoto stopped her.

"Wait! Is there anyone around here named Haruka?" Makoto started to panic.

"N-no. I'm sorry." She quickly shut the door.

Makoto tried not to think about it much, but it was such a coincidence it seemed supernatural. Maybe his parents lived at a different house?

Makoto shrugged and walked to Samezuka highschool.

It was hard walking back in at first, but Makoto remembered he had poured salt water around the entrance, so the demon was probably banished. He just felt sick walking back into the place where his friends died, knowing they'll never be seen again.

As he walked up to the receptionist's desk, he went to pull the three jackets out. "Hello, where is the swim captain at? I need to talk to him about three students." He was digging around in the bag for the jackets, but couldn't seem to find them. "Maybe I left them at home?" He mumbled to himself.

The man at the desk yawned, visibly bored. "Which students?" He asked monotonously

"Rin Matsuoka, Nitori Aiichiro, and Seijuurou Mikoshiba. Where are they?" He dug around in the bag. He noticed an Iwatobi jacket was gone, too.

The man typed in something on his computer and called for Makoto. "Son, you've got the wrong school. There's nobody here with those names."

"W-what?"

"There are no students here with those names, son. Can't you hear me?" The man said a little louder.

Makoto shook his head. "N-no. Seijuurou Mikoshiba was the swim captain, and Rin Matsuoka and Nitori Aiichiro were members. Rin had a sister named Gou Matsuoka."

The man looked at Makoto like he was insane, which he believed, and picked up a phone. "I'm sorry, our records don't show anyone by those names. I'm going to call your parents now, okay?"

Makoto stopped him. "No! Don't. I just need to find my other friends!" He grabbed the bag and ran out the school. The heavy weight lifted off his shoulders when he spotted Nagisa's parents.

"Mr and Mrs. Hazuki!" He called, running towards them.

The couple stopped and stared at the large teen running towards them. They glared at him, giving him dirty looks. "Excuse you!" The lady shrieked when Makoto nearly ran into them.

"It's about your son, Nagisa! We need to talk." He huffed from running so fast. "P-please just let me explain."

The man scowled and wrapped his arm around his wife. "We don't have a son. My wife aborted a kid 15 years ago, but we don't have a living one!" He hissed. "Go away."

Makoto's hopes were given up. What had happened to his friends? His bag felt lighter, and his phone had been acting funny all day.

He wanted to try Rei's house, but he knew the outcome. Rei's family wouldn't be there. He wanted to go by Iwatobi and check for Miss Amakata, but the result would be the same. He'd have to go to the police, explain why he had belongings that didn't belong to him. They'd think he was insane and they'd lock him up forever in a padded room.

He didn't care. He had to try.

At Rei's house, he pounded on the door. A teen, only a few years older than Makoto opened the door. "Yeah?"

"Is this the Ryugazaki family?" Makoto stared him in the eye. He had the same purple eyes Rei did. Makoto remembered Rei mentioning that he had an older brother.

"Yes, why?" He looked inside at his parents and back at Makoto.

Makoto grabbed his bag, trying to pull an Iwatobi jacket out. "Your brother, Rei," Makoto stopped. There weren't any Iwatobi jackets in the bag. "died a few days ago." He drew the last part out, staring into the bag. There weren't any Iwatobi or Samezuka jackets. Gou's bow and Miss Amakata's book wasn't in the bag.

The boy shifted on his feet. "I'm going to have to ask you to go." He looked like he was about to cry.

"Do you know Rei?"

The boy looked down. "Yeah. Mom miscarried him."

And the door was shut in his face.

At the police station, Makoto had broken. It was hard for him to remain composed, but he lost it as soon as he started to explain what had happened. He told them everything, not leaving certain events out, and he explained that he was trying to return everyone's belongings. He had walked in and collapsed, and had to be helped to a chair for interviewing.

He shook in the chair, sobbing and trying to find a picture of his friends on his phone. They were all gone. The group picture had turned into a lone picture with just Makoto, and Makoto couldn't find any trace of his friends. He wouldn't be able to carry on their story.

The police man entered the room again with a stack of papers. He sighed and looked at Makoto. "How do you know about these kids?"

"What?" Makoto was confused.

The man pulled some papers out. "Haruka Nanase, the desired name of a son a family couldn't have. Nagisa Hazuki, the aborted male fetus a family didn't want. Rei Ryugazaki, the miscarried son a family wanted. Rin and Gou Matsuoka, both drowned after they fell off a boat when they were young. Nitori Aiichiro, miscarried due to an injury. Seijuurou Mikoshiba, died as a child due to injury. How did you know these kids? They died years ago, when you were just a child. And the Amakata lady, she died after a photo shoot went wrong a few years ago. How did you know?" He told Makoto, whose face became paler by the second.

Makoto swallowed. "They weren't children. They were teenagers. My parents knew about them! They died in Samezuka high school!" He hoped he sounded sane. "I saw them all die!"

"Son, I talked to your parents. They said they remembered some of the names from papers, but not the faces or you being friends with them." He explained.

Makoto felt like he was going to faint. 'The demon caused one last trick. Damn you. Damn you to hell for causing my life to be a living hell.' He mentally cursed the demon. "Wait! I was gone for weeks, didn't my parents fill a missing persons report?" He thought suddenly.

"You were accounted every day for being in school. You weren't missing. Are you sure this isn't just a dream you had?" The police officer asked.

He shook his head. "No. I saw it and felt it. It happened."

The police man sighed and picked up the papers. "Maybe you were the only one who remembered. Weird things happen sometimes." He stood up. "Go home, get some rest."

Makoto also stood and started to walk out. He knew that his friends wouldn't be able to live on anymore. They were completely forgotten. For some reason, Makoto wasn't bothered by it. Whether it was by guilt or relief, it didn't faze him. He was going to go home and write everything down about his friends, so he wouldn't forget them. He'd hide it, so that it wouldn't bother him every day unless he searched for it.

He grabbed the small and brightly colored Iwatobi-Chan charm and held it tightly. It was a bit of his friends that he held on to.

"If it did happen, don't forget them." The police man told him again. "I believe you." He smiled warmly at Makoto and led him out.

Makoto thanked the man. "I will! I will remember them!" He started to walk down the street. It'll be hard to accept at first, but he knew for a fact that his friends were in a better place, waiting for Makoto to joing them in eternal bliss. He'd have to be forgiven for his lust-driven sins to truly be fine with himself. He was happy that their tortures were over with. He was happy that the demon was gone for now. He was happy that he was living. He was happy that he didn't have to deal with the guilt of dealing with his friends' deaths and telling their parents and being asked questions.

Back at the police station, the police officer watched Makoto walk down the street. "Yes, let your friends live on." His red eyes watched Makoto, his black bangs brushing his face. He dropped two small objects and walked away.

On the concrete lay a black Iwatobi-Chan charm with red eyes, with a black feather lying next to it.
