dear readers, you must have assumed that chapter 14 was the last however there is one more... this is chapter 15 the last one, i hope you guys enjoy this one as much as the others...
A few months after the last sighting of Izan Bronze, Most of the soldiers in the Survey corps, the Garrison and the Military Police Brigade had forgotten about Izan and all that he had done for them. They carried on their lives but they were still killing the titans in Wall Maria. Unfortunately one day the titan's had arrived on their doorstep once more only this time there was no Izan to help them… or so they thought.
Loud bangs and crashing of buildings could be heard at sunrise. The people were once again under attack and they relied on the soldiers in the area to assist them. Mikasa was one of these soldiers along with Eren and Armin. Not even two hours into combat for some unknown reason Mikasa's three dimensional maneuver gear malfunctioned and the gas tanks jammed. That led her to fall out of the air; she plummeted and hit the ground, rolling to a halt. Eren and Armin quickly approached to help her. Mikasa was unconscious and couldn't be carried like that. Titans closed in from the more titan-occupied zone and that led Eren to carry Mikasa into a building. He and Armin hoped they weren't seen.
Eren spoke "damned titans, why do they have to attack in the most unexpected times". Armin thought about it and shrugged without an answer. Eren spoke in an irritated voice "ever since Izan left Mikasa's been depressed. I mean she doesn't even care about anybody else…" Mikasa lifted her fist up and took Eren in the chin. Mikasa stood up and spoke "I care about you and Armin… my friends. Yes I have been upset because I haven't seen Izan since he kissed me on the cheek…. But that shouldn't matter". Eren spoke "you are always throwing yourself in danger, it's like you don't care about yourself. How'd you think Izan would feel about that… I don't think he'd be happy", Mikasa spoke "you just as guilty when it comes to throwing yourself in danger". Eren stood back up and responded "I just wanted to feel equal, you've always been better than me and you always act like I'm your child or little brother". Mikasa tried to speak but was cut off by Eren's second angry response "I'm not a baby, so stop treating me like one".
After that argument they managed to get to the base and get Mikasa new gear. They were swarmed by titans since many of the soldiers were refueling. Mikasa was looking out one of the windows, at the titans that were walking around. She noticed a titan running very fast and it looked extremely similar to Hellflix's titan. When it came close enough to be seen clearly Mikasa gasped in realization… it was Hellflix's titan. It had the same long black hair the same red eyes, the same claws… everything was the same. Mikasa realized that if Hellflix was there that means Izan must have been somewhere out there as well. She called out to Eren "Eren look", Eren ran to the window and saw what Mikasa was pointing at. Eren spoke "So the deserters have returned".
Mikasa didn't understand and said "I don't understand… I thought you would be glad to see Izan, after all he is your brother". Eren responded "he stopped being my brother when he abandoned the walls, and a brother wouldn't betray his own". Mikasa knew it was hopeless since Eren was hardheaded. Mikasa walked out and heard several loud banging sounds coming from the titan occupied space not far from the base. These sounds could only be identified as Izan's tanks releasing pressurized air. She wanted to get a closer look to see if it really was Izan, and she knew no body would openly let Izan live after he left the Survey Corps. Mikasa left alone to witness the truth.
Izan was within the walls fighting off titans with all his strength. He took down three in one blow by angling himself at their napes from behind since they were all fourteen meter classes. But he was taken by surprise and flung against a building. He recovered from the impact quickly and swiped to get the blood off his blade. He used the springs on his boots to launch above the titan's head and then behind it, cutting its head clean off, from the nape to the throat.
Izan turned around and asked them "any more willing to die". Two other titans gathered on each end of Izan and started to charge at him, one was a twelve meter class as the other was a five meter class. He used his S.O.J.B's abilities and killed the five meter class the same way as he killed the previous three, by slashing through its head decapitating it. Although he killed the first the other one was slightly harder since it had almost no neck, so decapitating it was out of the options available. He managed to maneuver himself to circle it and strike from behind. Izan killed it and noticed a soldier in the distance, she was on the ground. Izan didn't care much until he saw who exactly it was… it was Mikasa. Izan gasped and used his boots to launch himself into the air.
Mikasa closed her eyes and heard a loud bang from nearby. She reopened her eyes seconds later when she heard the sound of a titan rolling against the ground. It appeared that Izan used his S.O.J.B to kick the titan away with tremendous force and he landed directly in front of Mikasa. She called out his mane and Izan responded briefly "I'm not here to be romantic; I came to kill some titans, so if you'd excuse me I'd be on my way". Mikasa was surprised to see how Izan reacted to her presence… this was not the Izan she was used to. Mikasa spoke "Izan what's wrong? You've never reacted like this before". Izan responded "you know… pushed to the brink of insanity because of the lack in titan activity, don't you just hate it when you can't do what you love to do. I do". Mikasa spoke again "stop Izan, this isn't like you", Izan spoke with a slightly agitated tone "I'm sorry but you must not have understood I'm going INSANE"
Izan left as Mikasa reached for his arm. She gasped and realized that the old Izan has probably been washed away from the world by the lack of things to kill. Was he really that unstable from the lack of titans? She watched as Izan continuously rampaged from titan to titan, showing no mercy to whichever he came across. When she saw his rampage she thought of Eren when he transformed into his titan form for the first time, when he killed over fifteen of the titans in Trost District.
Izan looked like he was enjoying the deaths of the titans and didn't care, he was too cocky. While Mikasa stood there Eren shot past her and launched into the air. Eren thought "I'd be doing the Survey Corps a favor if I took Izan out; after all he is a deserter". Eren transformed into his titan form and it yelled because of its awakening. What Eren didn't realize was that Hellflix's titan was approaching rapidly from the east. It was too late when he turned his head and noticed the sprinting titan.
Hellflix's titan reached out and clawed at Eren's titan on the spine causing it to fall to the ground. While Eren's titan was healing Izan approached the titan and stood on its neck. Izan swiftly cut the nape of the titan and took Eren by the back of his shirt. Izan pulled Eren out and threw him to the ground where the titan disintegrated. When Eren stood up, Izan pointed his blade at him and said "are you going to try that again because I'll just kill you right here if you will". Eren said in anger "Damn you", Izan was going to kill him for the insult but was stopped by Mikasa who stood in front of Eren. Mikasa spoke "if you're going to kill Eren you'll have to kill me as well". Izan turned his back and sighed "I'll be leaving then. I've had my fill of titan killing for now anyway". Mikasa spoke "what about before you left… you were so different". Izan turned and spoke "the reason I'm different is because I was this way before I met you, now I feel no need to hang on to the calm and nice behavior. I'm also doing this to keep you from getting attached". Eren spoke "well it's too late for that" Mikasa punched Eren in the shoulder. Izan spoke "unless you can prove that I didn't desert the Survey Corps. I'm never going to go back"
Eren spoke "even if we could clear your name, you probably would never come back anyway". Izan looked down, scraped up some dirt and spoke "I would come back… I lost everything when I came out here, this is all I have" Izan let the dirt slide between his fingers before he spoke again "Mikasa, even if I did come back I would never be the same… I'm battle-hardened and I've been through too many close encounters. Killing is all I know how to do. The old Izan died when I was declared a deserter" Izan walked to Hellflix who lowered his hand in response. Izan stepped on one of Hellflix's fingers and was raised to Hellflix's shoulder. Izan spoke "I'll be at Hellflix's platform… If you CAN prove my innocence, go there when you do. I'll be waiting" Hellflix noticed some soldiers coming toward them.
Although they didn't know exactly where Hellflix's platform was they knew it was in the trees where they met Hellflix for the first time. Commander Erwin arrived shortly after and asked "was that Izan Bronze and Marcus Sypht". Eren spoke "Yes, the damned traitor wants us to clear his name so he can come back with the Survey Corps", Mikasa spoke "Eren's telling the truth, he left because he thought that you'd have him arrested" Mikasa was trying to make the statement more believable. Erwin spoke "he wants to come back… then why did he flee from the walls". Eren spoke "Izan left to seal the walls, but the idiot didn't do such a good job, did he". Mikasa gave Eren a glare and Eren stopped speaking. Erwin spoke "if it were my choice, I'd have the man back in an instant. We could take him back with us but we have no proof that he didn't desert us other than his word".
Several days later, the soldiers in the district had left because of the incoming waves of titans. When Commander Erwin arrived to a meeting about how to seal the wall, at this meeting Commander Erwin presented new information. It was Information regarding Izan and his utmost importance to the cause. When the meeting's solution had been decided, the leaders realized that with Izan helping them they could reseal the gates and kill off the remaining titans within a month or two. so the leaders decided that it would be best to clear his name.
Commander Erwin sent several soldiers to escort Izan back to the remaining part of the walls that hadn't been breached. When they reached a platform in the woods where they were instructed to go to, Izan and Hellflix greeted them with an angry expression and Izan asked "so are you here to kill us or to take us back into the Survey Corps". One of the soldiers removed their hood and spoke "Izan Bronze, you're to be escorted back into the walls and returned to Special Ops Levi Squad" Izan looked to Hellflix and asked him "are you ready to go". Hellflix nodded and ran off the edge of the platform. He hit his palm with his fist and transformed, landing in a crouched position. Izan leaped off and onto Hellflix back, they all left immediately.
When they returned to the walls Hellflix ejected from the titan form back flipped and landed on his feet. Hellflix spoke "I always wanted to do that". Izan climbed off its shoulder and mumbled "showoff". When the gates were opened they were greeted with many unhappy looks. Izan and Hellflix walked into the food court and Izan yelled out "did any of you miss me". There was no response, and Izan noticed a small glance from the corner but the person looked uninterested.
Mikasa glanced and noticed that Izan had asked if anybody missed him. She was overjoyed to see him but remained as she was and pretended like she wasn't interested. Izan was walking to the table where she sat and Izan signaled Hellflix to walk over afterward. When Izan and Hellflix sat to the table, three of the people there stood up and walked away. Yet there were three familiar faces that stayed. Mikasa, Armin and Eren, didn't look at them nor did they move. Eren was the first to speak "in my eyes you're still a betraying bastard" Mikasa looked up and Izan saw in her eyes that she was happy for his return. Armin looked as if he was caught between not caring and asking what he was doing back in the walls.
Izan and Hellflix helped reseal the walls. When the walls were sealed they hunted the Armored and Colossal titans. But that's another story… that could be told some other time.
