It's time to win back Narnia.
We start council quickly and informally, after a Faun runs in and informs us of the situation outside the How.
"Miraz's men and war machines are on their way." Peter begins.
"That means those same men aren't protecting his castle." He looks around, expecting someone to get it.
"What do you propose we do, Your Majesty?" asks Trufflehunter curiously.
"We need to get ready for it." Peter explains—or starts to, as Caspian cuts him of before he can finish.
"To start planning for—" he says. Peter gives him the look—where he stares with one eyebrow raised, looking stern and incredulous, all at the same time. Caspian shuts his mouth and Peter continues.
"Our only hope is to strike them before they strike us." Of course Caspian cuts in again.
"Crazy. No one has taken that castle."
"There's always a first time." Peter says drily.
"We'll have the element of surprise." I add.
"But we have the advantage here!" Caspian exclaims. Susan stands up and moves to stand beside him, her long hair swirling around her.
"If we dig in, we could probably hold them off indefinitely." She points out. Trufflehunter adds in.
"I, for one, feel safer underground." Peter lets out an exasperated breath.
"Look. I appreciate what you've done here, but this isn't a fortress. It's a tomb." He says.
"Yes. And if they're smart, the Telmarines will just wait and starve us out." Edmund says logically.
"We could collect nuts!" exclaims Pattertwig.
"Yes! And throw them at the Telmarines. Shut up!" says Reepicheep. Turning to Peter, he says.
"I think you know where I stand, sire." Peter smiles and turns to the Centaur Glenstorm.
"If I get your troops in, can you handle the guards?" he asks. Glenstorm only hesitates a moment.
"Or die trying, my liege." He says in a slow, deep voice.
"That's what I'm worried about."' Lucy cuts in.
"Sorry?" Peter asks. Lucy stands from where she was seated on the Stone Table.
"You're all acting like there are only two options. Dying here, or dying there." She explains. Then Susan says huffily.
"I'm not sure you've been listening."
"No, you're not listening. Or have you forgotten who really defeated the White Witch, Susan?" Lucy shoots back. Susan only stares at her for a long moment before saying the words that shocked us all.
"I think we've waited for Aslan long enough."
A.N. I am so sorry about the delay, I meant to put it up Christmas Day and it got deleted…I had to rewrite the whole thing from scratch because I didn't have it handwritten like normal…stupid mistake that I am NEVER making again. Enjoy!
