(No ones pov)
Ahku paced back and forth within her soul room, eyebrows knitted together. The run in with Bakura had set her mind reeling. Hikari was gaining privet information by looking at the Millennium Items, it was useful, but she was left in a state of complete vulnerability. She had tried to take over, but the girl wouldn't have it. She may not have had a good grasp of what was going on, but she knew enough not to let a foreign mind take control. She needed to reveal herself, to shed some light on the truth.
However, that could put her in danger, them both in danger. Their mind link was strong, yet they hadn't official met yet. If they could speak to each other through telepathy and switch places whenever, their power could spin out of control. But it was a risk she had to take to prevent their certain deaths. She wanted to have the reins in case he showed up.
Ahku made her way to the brunette's soul room, careful not to make any noise, and gave a tentative knock. The door opened to reveal Hikari, fully clad in archer gear, complete with a knocked bow. "Who are you?" she asked, hands ready to fire if she didn't like the answer.
"Your...other half. I'm here to give you answers." She replied. Hikari hesitated before motioning the other to come in. Her soul room was full of weapons and means to practice them. In the corner was another door, but a shimmering wall of hieroglyphics blocked it. The brunette gave her a small nod, signaling her to explain. "By now you must realize that whenever you look at a millennium item, you glimpse into someone's past. No ordinary girl could have done that. You have a millennium item of your own, and you too, have another side, just as the other had once. I am Ahku, and I am you-"
"My Yami." She finished. But the Egyptian shook her head.
"No, I am your Hikari. I am bound to the light in a way, thus, I am the lighter half. Hikari, we are going to have to work together from now on if we are to survive. If you ever need me, all you have to do is call. And if you ever feel my presence in your mind, let me take over, it may save both our lives." She pleaded. The brunette hesitated before nodding and she relaxed. "Well, I have one more thing to say before I go. Do not hide behind your mask when it comes to the Pharaoh. It is become quite obvious to me that you have feeling for him, last night was proof enough. Farewell, Hikari."
And with that, the spirit left her lighter half, chuckling at the blush creeping along her face.
(Time skip. Hikari's pov)
When I woke up and went downstairs, everyone began to panic and demanded to know where I was. But I refused to say anything of the sort until I finished my breakfast. I made sure to eat very slowly and drag out the suspense as long as possible. Then I begrudgingly told them, leaving out the main reason why I left and the discovery of Ahku.
"ARE YOU OKAY?!" that was Yugi.
"Aw man, sounds like you had a long night." Tristan.
"Why won't th' lights shut up?" that would be a very hung-over Joey.
"That's what all the fuss was about?" and Tea.
The only one who hadn't said anything was Yami, who was staring at my arm. "Yeah I'm fine, it was a long night. Joey, you're hung over. The lights are going to be as loud as they want. And Tea, I agree with you, for once, there was no reason to make such a big fuss." I replied.
"But you're not all right. Your arm…. Look at it." Yami said, a hint of anger in his baritone voice. I lifted my arm in the light to see a huge gash running down the length, and bruises riddled up my skin and probably continued on my back.
"It must have happened when I saw the item. It doesn't matter, they will heal." I assured. But of course, everyone started to make a huge deal out of it. Except for Joey and Tea. When Yugi came up holding some medical equipment, I lost it. "I said I'm FINE, now if everyone could get AWAY from me, that would be great!" I growled, pushing my way out of the circle. Regret washed over me, but I put it in the back of my mind, and walked outside.
I leaned against the wall, despite my back screaming at me not to. It was then I noticed Yami next to me, twisting the manacles on his wrist. "Yami, I-"
"What the hell is wrong with you? Why do you always push people away? I just don't get it. Don't you trust any of us?" He asked, violet eyes flashing in hurt and anger.
Do not hide behind your mask when it comes to the Pharaoh.
Ahku's word echoed in my mind, and my chest began to feel tight. "I…. I only trust you." I whisper. He cocked his head in confusion. "I'm confused about everything my self. So…yeah."
Yami came closer and I let him. Slowly his lips met mine, and for once, I didn't mind that he was close to me, that he had an advantage.
(no one's pov)
Yugi slowly backed away from the door; his face would put an apple to shame. "Hey Yug, what's wrong?" Joey called, all cured thanks to the mighty aspirin.
"L-let's not go outside. They are… um, well, you see, they…" he mad his hands look like mouths and brought them together.
Everyone gasped loudly in unison. "No. Freakin'. Way." They shouted, rushing to the door to see for themselves. Tea was livid, stamping her feet and mentally screaming. Of course she made a plan, really the only way to degrade a woman in a man's eyes. Yes, the perfect plan, she was going to defeat Hikari at DDR.
(skipping to a later point in that day. Also, It's Hikari's pov again)
"Hey, why don't we all head to Johnny Step's place? It's been forever!" Tea exclaimed. Everyone nodded in approval, needing the opportunity to unwind. "Great! In that case, I challenge you to a game of DDR, Hikori." She giggled, twirling her hair. Huh, it kinda looked like a box… how much hairspray does she use?
"It's Hikari. And you're on." I smirked, though on the inside, I was panicking. I can't dance to save my life, and she was a professional. This was bad!
"Whatever. Anyways you can pick the song."
"Thanks, slut!"
"Uh, it's Tea." She scoffed, rolling her eyes.
"That's what I said."
Ahku… can you dance?
Well, a little. Why do you ask, young one?
Well, I was just challenged to a dancing game by a professional dancer and I can't dance, so…
Was it Tea?
Yes, actually.
Then I would be honored to take her down. Let us do this!
(Time skip. Third person pov)
They all headed over to the arcade, Hikari and Yami trying to hold their entwined hands. (Ew affection) They discussed their relationship after the kiss. They both decided to ease the others into it, as to not upset Tea and to enjoy a little thrill. Little did they know that the whole gang knew. And quite a few others thanks to Facebook and it's interesting ways. When they got inside, the whole place was teeming with people of all ages. Kids working with driving games, teens drinking soda and firing at zombies, and an old lady was screaming profanities at the little claw machines.
For a few minutes, they each spent their time trying their hand out in different games. Joey and Tristan won only a few, Yami tried playing cool but was roped into a few games. Tea was attempting to flirt with him, and impress him by winning a few games. And then there is Hikari, who was rocking the army game. She looked the part too, with camo pants, combat boots and a wife beater tank top. Yami would be surprised if any one had the guts to go toe to toe when she looked like this. But their excitement was short lived as Tea pushed her onto the platform.
All right Ahku, don't fail me now.
The Egyptian took over in her mind, but not body, so that Tea would be satisfied. "Since you did challenge me, Is it okay if I turn it into a light game?" she asked.
Tea shrugged. "Sure, is it like a shadow game?" she asked, unbuttoning her trench coat.
"You could say that. It will not make much of a difference, though you can cheat, so it really does not matter." She replied. Tea just nodded and flung her coat off to reveal a very revealing, but surprisingly pretty, dance outfit. Guys whistled, though Yami looked away in indifference. "Alright you have had your fun, but it is time for me to show off." Hikari or rather, Ahku closed her eyes and every game, except for DDR shut down. The game seemed to spring to life, its lights brighter than ever, drawing attention to it. "Remember, I get to pick the song."
After pressing a few buttons, a very…. Interesting song began to play. Yami noticed first and glanced at the brunette, noticing the stance and look in her eyes, and face palmed. "Really Ahku? Oh, this is going to be interesting." He mumbled, humming along to the ancient Egyptian song blaring through the speaker. Due to the lack of entertainment, a large crowd had gathered to see Tea's certain defeat. It was clear in the first ten seconds that she was struggling. She followed what was on the screen fairly well, but it much more complicated than the other songs, and because of that, she missed quite a few steps.
Ahku moved like she was walking, with grace and the sense she had done this many a time before. Her feet seemed to be gliding over the arrows as she twirled and waved her hands about her. It took everyone's breath away, those that weren't cheering or laughing at Tea's clumsiness that is. And the song ended, one in a beautiful pose, the other had her knees together and her hand flung to the side awkwardly. "REMATCH! I demand a rematch. This time, pick a song that my great grandmother wouldn't know." She snarled, glaring at the obvious victor.
Ahku shrugged and flipped through the songs before pressing the start button. Tea smirked, this song she had the best score in, Can't touch this. She could easily beat Hikari, but just to make sure…
The song began to play and Tea began working out a strategy. Her opponent was a lot better than expected, and looked fierce, like she was ready to kill someone. So, she swung her arm out, in what looked like a very complex dance move, and attempted to make her stumble. However, she dodged just as the first 'can't touch this' went through the speakers. This happened quite a few times and when the lyrics weren't a coincidence, she said them in an almost mocking way. Yami was trying his best not to burst into laughter, watching the two dance.
"Man, Hikari has some Killah moves!" Joey cried, and the struggle grew worse.
"Oh you have no idea." He mumbled.
"Nyeh? Whatchya mean?" he asked.
"Put a sword in her hand." He simply explained. It was a little difficult for Joe but after a few moments, he saw it. What appeared to be a unique dancing style was actually an ancient battle technique, thus, the 'killer moves'. Now they were all trying their best not to bust out laughing. Their laughter was cut off, when Tea deliberately shoved Ahku off the stage. The crowd watched as the girl fell, and back flipped back on, in beat with the song. From then on, it was Tea trying her hardest to make her lose while trying to maintain the better score. It didn't work out so well, and she faced defeat as the song ended.
She stormed out, crying, her mascara drowning her face. Didn't take defeat easy, you see. Hikari once again took control of her body and bowed to the cheering crowd. The gang ran up to her, crowing her name in a chant. Yami gave her a quick hug, too quick for her to protest, and the others gave a high-five. The electricity came back on and the angry shouts of the old woman filled the arcade once again.
They left, laughing and celebrating Hikari's (Ahku's) victory. But when Joey accidentally slapped Hikari's arm, they were silent as a groan left her lips. Yami rose to action, telling her it was all right while he checked to see if her wound was reopened. Luckily, it hadn't, but her armband caught his eye. "Hikari, do you know what this says?" he asked, pointing to the bracelet.
"No. Do you?"
He shook his head. "But I know someone who can. Tomorrow, we'll head over to Ishizu's office and get it figured out. For now, let's go home. Joey ordered pizza and if we aren't there to pay for it, we won't have dinner until Yugi get's back from work at ten."
"OH CRAP!" they all shouted, rushing back to the apartment. Hey, when it's supreme, you run. You run.
(Places! Times skip to Ishizu's office scene. Aaaannnnnd Action!)
It wasn't much of an office, more like a big closet with a desk and some creepy looking artifacts. But it read Ishizu Ishtar on the plaque, so they went there. Ishizu was very beautiful, but her facial features looked stern and made her seem like that one kid that always took gym a little too seriously. Hikari was a little fond of her the moment she saw her, and attempted to smile genuinely.
"Pharaoh, what brings you here?" she asked, all politeness and refinement.
"Hikari has an armband we would like you to read and translate. If possible, we would like advice for the next step." Yami explained, gesturing to Hikari. Ishizu spent the next few minutes gazing at the band, eyebrows scrunched together in concentration.
"It's an oath, a very delicate one, binding her to the light. It's incredibly complex and there seems to have had no way to break it. However, a second one is inscribed below, binding her to the Pharaoh, negating most of the first vow. If she isn't careful, she could die. But I am not sure what you are to do next. There is a way to, but it will require my Millennium Item. Is that alright?" she asked, looking at Hikari, then Yami, both who nodded.
As soon as the gold neck lass was brought out, Hikari crumbled to the floor, eyes glowing and body slumped in her comatose state. Ahku sensed no danger, thus, she did not come out. But the presence of the item spiked her interest a good deal. She waited till her darker half was familiar with the story of both Isis and Ishizu before taking control. Hikari stood up, gave her neck a good pop and turned to Ishizu. "Drop the mask, Isis."
Her mouth dropped to the floor and her eyes widened, all regulations gone. "Ah, that's better." She chuckled. Her eyes flashed red for a brief moment, long enough for the Ishtar to notice, but short enough that no one else would see.
An eyebrow shot up in surprise and amusement. "That explains it. Really Ahku? Really?" she sighed, trying not to laugh. The others, minus Tea, looked at each other in confusion. Was it an inside joke? They thought.
"Hold still, dear friend, this will take only a few minutes." She explained, holding her necklace to Ahku. The whole room held its breath as waves of energy bent the pressure in the room. After a minute or two, Ishizu stepped back, her blue eyes, snapping open in laughter. "Oh, that is just ridiculous at this point!" she chuckled.
"What is it, Ishizu?" Yami asked, stepping forward to stand next to Hikari, as Ahku had switched back.
"You have to go to Egypt."
A/n: all right guys, this is Emu here with the new update of this story! Hope you like it! Oh, by the way, My mother cut off my Wi-Fi, I was spending 'too much time on the internet', so updates may be only once a month at the least. I had to quickly write this to get it up, so it isn't very detailed, it has the basics and adjectives though. So it should keep you happy. Hikari, I did switch up a few things, and I tried to uh, make it a little funny, but it was kinda rushed cuz I've been working on my book so much it's taken up most of my writing time! Well, hope you guys enjoy.
Dream big,
Emu
