Even though I could call upon my memories and they would tell me everything that I needed to know, in the end those memories, no matter how detailed and how real they were to the others, are false. I didn't want to rely on those memories; I wanted to experience the new things on my own, and create real memories to guide me. That is what I thought of as I walked into the house we lived in with Hideyoshi, my brother, at my side.
As I remembered to slip off my shoes in accustom to human customs, I took a look around at my surroundings. It was a simple house so far, nothing to say much about it except that it was cleaned and organized quite well. Before I could look more, Hideyoshi's hand clasped around my own. "Come on, sis, let's go play before dinner." He told me, smiling brightly as he led me upstairs to where the bedrooms were located.
I didn't protest any, simply allowing him to drag me along. It didn't take long for us to reach the room we shared, Hideyoshi releasing my hand and going over to a chest set up against the wall. As he did that, I looked around the room, catching sight of framed pictures of family; in the pictures, I could even see myself in them, standing with our parents or stubbornly smiling while being next to Hideyoshi.
There wasn't a single picture of me smiling brightly or genuinely, which actually made my mouth curve upwards. That was when I caught sight of Hideyoshi looking back at me out of the corner of my eye. I looked over at him, wondering what was up with his strangely warm and soft smile and expression. As if reading my thoughts, he answered me. "It's just... this seems like the first time I've seen you smile like that." He told me, a slight shading of red upon his cheeks.
For some strange reason, my cheeks grew a little warm. "Whatever." I told him, crossing my arms as he went back to getting something out of the chest. After a few more moments he finally found what he had been looking for and set the two costumes on our bed. "Costumes?" I asked him, not liking where this was going.
Hideyoshi smiled brightly as he pulled off his clothes. "I wanted to play-act, sis." He told me as he pulled his shirt off, my face starting to pale a little. Yes, I was a powerful demon that struck fear into the souls of many, but acting was the entire reason that I slaughtered over a hundred other demons after my 'cousin' (by human terms) had made me look like a complete fool in front of them all (I also murdered that cousin and his entire bloodline).
When he saw that I still wasn't moving after he had taken his clothes off, he blinked in confusion before deciding to help me by coming over behind me. "Come on, sis, please?" He pleaded as he started to take off my shirt, pulling it over my head without a care in the world. Although I was alive by his own actions, there was not a single part of me that wanted to even consider trying to act again, even for his sake.
With that thought in mind, I glanced back at him, my eyes starting to narrow. "I-" Realizing that my power was making itself too far into my voice, I quickly cut my sentence off. I had to remember to watch myself; because, if I didn't, things would get quite... unpleasantfor the humans.
Hideyoshi stared at me, a little surprise in his eyes at the way my voice had sounded. However, instead of getting frightened and backing off like a good little human child would do, he wrapped his arms around my own arm, staring into my eyes. "Sis... please... You know it's my dream to become a famous actor when I grow up. I know that you... don't like it since you're not good at it..." In human terms, Hideyoshi was giving me the 'puppy-dog' eyes. "But I really enjoy playing with you... and it helps me out a lot, sister..."
Looking into his eyes right then and there while listening to his words, I couldn't help but feel something coming on. It was something... nearly unexplainable, especially for a demon such as myself. It felt kind of... warm; kind of... happy; kind of... nice... I didn't realize it at that moment, but that was when our bond, not as a link and his demon, but as a sister and a brother truly began.
"Fine... but I get the samurai's costume..."
Hideyoshi's resulting joy was worth the embarrassment.
