Chapter 15
For hours Lilah let all her rage out, until the room around her was nothing but rubble and dust. Furniture had been smash beyond repair, some items even being burned in the fireplace, and everything that had once brought her joy was now in ruins. Crumpling to the floor, Lilah let the tears come. Angry, salty tears coated her cheeks, hitting the debris on the floor. A rage like no other had filled Lilah, and she had no idea what to do with it. A small part of her wanted to rise from the floor and take that rage out on some people. Lilah tried to fight fury inside her, but it bursting through the surface. Her head rolled back, a roar erupted from her lips, sending a gigantic astral shield forth. The damage was great, leaving the room exposed as the walls crumbled.
However, destroying a part of corridor and Loki's chamber brought unwanted attention. Dozens of guards came to see what the commotion was, and when they saw that the once timid Lilah was the cause, all Hel broke loose. The guards closed in on Lilah, their spears pointed in hostility. Lilah wanted to kill them all, but before she could do any damage, a guard lunged forward and brutally smacked her over the head, rendering her unconscious.
When Lilah finally came too, she had a vicious headache and a nauseous feeling in her stomach. At first she panicked, fearing that she might have injured her child, but she soon settled down once she felt her baby's life force. Satisfied that her child was safe, Lilah took in her surroundings. She had expected that she would be in a cell, just like her beloved, but she found herself in a small bedroom. Lilah scoffed, this is only a more comfortable cell.
Hours passed, Lilah staying in her cell. No one came to see her, feed her or comfort her. And as she sat in her cell, alone, the more her rage for this place grew. She'd try contacting Loki via his mind, but found she had exhausted herself. Once she gained the strength she would test out this new talent her body had gifted her.
It was a few days later when someone finally came to visit her, the guards at the door letting them in. Lilah stood from her spot on the makeshift bed to greet her guest, though all she really wanted to do was slap him.
"Lady Lilah," Thor greeted pleasantly.
Lilah laughed at his manners. "Good morning, prince."
There was a short silence while Thor took Lilah in. She knew he could sense that there was something different about her. Surely he could feel the power surging through her this very moment. It glittered in the air as he emotions heightened.
"How are you?" he asked.
Lilah snapped. "How can you do nothing! He is your brother!" she yelled at him, wanting more than anything to hurl a vase at him. Thor stood his ground at her heated words.
"Lilah, you know damn well I cannot do anything," Thor kept his voice calm, not wishing to upset Lilah further. She suspected that he thought this was just a hormonal thing, given her condition. Lilah frowned at the thought, refusing to be seen as weak.
"You cannot, or you will not?" not at all accepting his answer.
Thor sighed, "Little sister, it will be good for Loki to stay in his prison for now," Thor continued, though his endearment failed to comfort her, "If he can show us the man that you think he is, then maybe Father will reconsider. But for now, this is for the best."
The man that Lilah had fell in love with was but a wisp of the past. Loki had sunk deeper into his rage and madness. But the new side of her could not fathom why that was not unattractive at this moment. In fact, she yearned for Loki, but she would not inform anyone of this. "Am I not allowed to see the father of my child?" Lilah put her hand to her belly to emphasise her plea.
Thor looked down at her sympathetically. "Look at what you've done, Lilah." Thor gestured to the nicely furnished room that was her cell. "The people are afraid of you. You will stay in this room until you earn their trust back."
Frustration and anger curled Lilah's lip, "What did they expect, Thor? I have just lost the man I love to a life in prison, and they forbid me to see him!" Lilah was almost hysterical, but somehow she managed to keep her calm … for now. "They were lucky I did not kill them."
Thor looked at Lilah as if he couldn't believe the words he was hearing. Where had the shy, compassionate and peaceful woman gone? Had she too sunk into madness along with her beloved? Something had changed within Lilah, and Thor knew it. Perhaps this was her pregnancy to Loki that had done this, the child within her making her change. Of course, Thor would never bring his concerns to pass, that is, if he wanted to keep his life.
"Lilah, I know this is hard, but please, just wait it out," Thor soothed.
"Get out! Go!" Lilah screeched, "Get out of my sight!"
Resigned, Thor nodded before leaving her presence. When Thor had gone, and the doors shut behind him, only then did Lilah break. Crumpling to the floor, Lilah cried it out.
Months pass, and Lilah grows. The evidence of her condition now plainly obvious. Each day when she looks in the mirror and sees the outcome of Loki's love, her love of him only continues to expand. During these months, Lilah teaches herself to hone her new abilities. She already knew she could yield astral blasts and shields. Slowly she taught herself to levitate objects, and teleport herself from one side of the room to the other. The guards knew nothing of her self-teaching, and over time she became stronger. Even her child enjoyed it when she used them, causing butterflies in her abdomen. Yet still she has not been allowed to visit Loki, but her patience would soon pay off. The fruits of her patience were beginning to show as the guards began to trust her more, with Frigga and Thor visiting her more often. She almost despised the visits from Thor, but embraced Frigga's. Frigga was like a Mother to her, and she cherished every moment. It was because of Frigga that Lilah had been given such a comfortable room.
One night, while Lilah was reading a book that Frigga had given her, two guards entered her chamber. Closing the book, Lilah looked up to them with a smile, hoping it would be another visit from Frigga.
"My Lady, we are to escort you to the dungeon," one of them announced, "The Allfather has granted you permission to see the prisoner Loki." Lilah jumped up from her spot, straightening her clothes. As she walked closer to them, a guard stepped forward and clapped her wrists in chains. "I'm sorry Ma'am." Lilah nodded, hiding her irritation. She was willing to forgive them, for a visit to her beloved after so many months was too wonderful to cause a scene.
A guard on either side, they lead her towards the dungeons in the lower parts of the Asgard Palace. Butterflies reined havoc, as if her child knew they were visiting their Father. Lilah could not keep the smile from her face as they ushered her down some stairs.
Entering the dungeon, another guard approached a cell they were heading towards and announced, "You have a visitor." As Lilah was pushed closer, she saw that Loki had a furnished cell quite like her own, but instead of walls, a magical barrier kept them apart.
Loki stands from his seat, his eyes wide as he gazes upon his love. Lilah rushes forwards from the guards and meets Loki at the barrier. Lilah cursed the magic divider that kept her from him. Tears gathered in her eyes as their hands meet together upon the surface. She ached to touch him, needed physical reassurance that he was here before her.
"Lilah," he whispers. It is like a verbal caress, causing Lilah to sob. "How is my child?"
Lilah gave him a watery smile, "It grows," her hand absently rubbing her mound affectionately.
A small smile forms on his lips, pain in his eyes, that he could not touch her. "I wish I could touch you." Lilah wants to smash her fists against the obstacle that kept them apart, but she knew it would do no good. "Please don't cry, my love." Lilah couldn't help it. Now that she was with him, all the emotions that had been pent up from her absence away from him came to the surface. Even more painful was the fact that she would not be allowed to stay with him. Soon the guards would take her away, and who knew when she would be permitted to see him again.
"Damn them," Lilah wept, slamming her fists against the magical wall that kept them from each other. Her rage for the Allfather came simmering to the surface. Loki watched her curiously, the sneer of anger on her face completely new to him. Never had he seen his love think ill of anyone. Something had changed while he'd been imprisoned. Not that Loki was worried, in fact, the livid look upon her beautiful face actually made him crave her more. The unbridled wrath, that she barely had under control, made Loki harden for her and curse this prison. And once Loki was free, Asgard would pay. It would rain fire, with Lilah at his side.
