Chapter 6

Nico POV

I was worried for Percy. Thalia and I were discussing earlier about how shaky Percy had been ever since that 'mutual' understanding talk with thehippalektryon. What bad news did the horse give Percy?

Thalia and I even tried asked Percy what happened but he just yelled at us. We were sitting in the dining room in the below deck. Well, it looked like a grand feast for the children of the Big Three. There was a turkey right in the middle of the table with mashed potatoes, there was salad too. Right next to the turkey was three bowls of soup with chicken chunks in it. On the surface of the soup was were the designs of our fathers symbol power; the lightning bolt, the trident and the helm of darkness. For starters there were shrimps and burritos. For dessert there was lychee with ice cream. I don't know about my cousins but I started to dig in. When I looked around to see them, I saw Percy dig in like a pig. Perhaps I ooked like a pig too.

Only Thalia was not too excited to see the food. She, in fact, looked a sickly shade of green. Then I remembered, she was seasick. She finished her soup but the moment she was about to take a second bite from her burrito, she couldn't handle it. She ran to the restroom and I could hear a loud 'bluuurgh'. I looked at Percy and we both shrugged our shoulders and started to dig in the food again.

"It's okay! Don't need to come after me. I'm absolutely fine!" Thalia shouted from the bathroom. Percy and I started to snicker. Suddenly there was loud 'thump' on the upper deck. Percy and I looked at each other and nodded. We both took out our swords and charged to the upper deck. What awaited for us kind of shocked Percy more than it shocked me. There were three telekhines. Telekhines are skilled metal-workers with the heads of dogs and flippers of seals in place of hands.

"I thought I didn't need to face them anymore." Percy murmured. I didn't have time to know why Percy had bad history with telekhines, so I charged.

You know, what the most embarrassing thing happened when I charged? I mostly was imagining myself charge at the telekhines like a hero, but I tripped. I tripped on Percy's backpack because Percy was mad and he left his backpack on the deck. I mentally cursed Percy in Greek while he charged ahead of me. I got up and charged again making sure nothing was on my way.

Percy disintegrated one telekhine since it was stupid and it was confused why he was on our ship. But, Percy left me with two, really cunning telekhines. Every time I tried to slash at one of them, they just moved away in incredible speed and I tripped. This was a problem with me for not staying at Camp Half Blood and not getting proper training in sword fighting.

Percy was doing great but he was just injuring the telekhines but not killing them. "Nico! Let the telekhine charge at you. Then trying slashing at it!" Percy yelled in a commander sort-of way.

I was unlucky because one telekhine was charging at me. I tried charging at it, but Percy's order was ringing in my mind. So I stayed where I was and waiting for the dog-face to come at me. Unfortunately, when the telekhine was near, I was too slow slash it with my sword and the telekhine was too fast. It slashed across my chest with its claws and I fell down on my back. They were three gigantic slashes across my chest. The telekhine was about to stab me with its claws when suddenly it disintegrated. It was Thalia. She had stabbed the telekhine on its back with her spear. She looked at me and was saying something that I couldn't make out. Then she called for Percy who finally managed to kill the other telekhine and was running to see me.

I felt my eyelids growing heavy. I just managed to see Thalia and Percy saying my name and telling me to keep my eyes open.

Sadly, I closed my eyes.

...The Big Three...

I heard voices. Was it the ghosts' voices? Am I dead?

Wow, Nico. Percy and Thalia got injured way more before and you can't handle three slashes from a telkhine?

But the voices were Percy's and Thalia's voices.

"It's all my fault, Thalia! Why can't you understand that?!" That was Percy's voice.

"Percy, you were just killing a telekhine, I was just in the bathroom puking and I didn't even hear you guys fighting. So it is my fault." And that was Thalia's voice. Great, I just caused a fight between the two most powerful demigods. I wanted them to stop because their fight was going a little too far.

I tried opening my eyes and finally after two-hundred seconds, I opened them. I saw that both Percy and Thalia were crying when Percy noticed me I am awake. I winked at him hoping he will get the message. And then he nodded and winked back and managed a weak smile. He finally tried to look serious and wiped his tears. The he pretended to check my pulse and then acted to feel scared. I smiled and closed my eyes and tried to look dead.

"Thalia! You said he was unconscious! He is dead." Percy screamed and the way he is making a muffled voice, he must have been pretending to cry. I could feel Thalia tense.

"But he is okay! I checked his pulse!" Thalia yelled. I felt a hand on my neck and I guessed it was Thalia was checking my pulse. Well, I got caught.

I opened my eyes and winked at Percy to let Thalia know it was a trick. I looked at her and mouthed 'sorry'. She whacked on the back of my head. Then she hugged me tightly, wiping her tears and laughing with joy that I am alive. Then Percy joined our family moment and hugged us too.

After all, Percy and Thalia were the only family I had now.
