Randal
"Goddamit!" I yelled at myself.
Everyone was pretty mad at me for holding them back from saving two Universes and they all went home. But it wasn't me! It was stupid Fire Randy! My damn Multiple Personality Disorder only gives me two different personalities: Fire Randy and Water Randy. I'm usually Water Randy: Helpful and caring and a pretty good person, while Fire Randy doesn't give a crap and probably just destroyed two Universes! I've always wondered why I had two different personalities, but I think I knew why: My Elemental powers are Fire and Water. The two are opposite, so maybe I have one personality for each Element. The Water personality is a good person while the Fire personality isn't. It made so much sense now!
"You are wiser than I thought." Eon said.
"Eon? Where are you?" I said.
"You cannot see me. Not until your powers have been activated. I am a spirit." Eon said.
"I'm sorry for what I said. That wasn't me, it was..." I said.
"Your other personality, I know very well of it." Eon said. "I know that your Water side want's to help, but you cannot control the Fire within you."
"Yeah, it's kinda a incurable disorder." I said.
"That is how humans see it, but really, it is the effect of the Fire within you. If you could agree with both the Water and the Fire for only a few moments, you could activate your Portals." Eon said.
"Well how do I do that?" I asked. My bracelet vibrated and the Fire and Water symbols flashed on it.
"There is no time to explain, you must find out on your own. You are being summoned." Eon said.
"What?" I said.
"Kaos has sent his first troop to Planet Earth! They are causing havoc as we speak!" Eon said.
"Where are they?" I said.
"You will be led to them, no go!" Eon said.
Wes
I have never seen Randy act like such a jerk. He's saved my butt from a fight more times than I can count. But today...I've never seen him act so selfishly. As I was walking home, my would-be-Portal vibrated. I looked at it and saw the Tech and Life symbols flash on my bracelet.
"You are being summoned." Eon's voice said.
"Eon?" I said.
"You cannot see me until your powers have been activated." Eon said.
"That's going to be a problem. Randy won't co-operate." I said.
"He will. It wasn't his fault." Eon said.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Randal will tell you when he is ready. But now, you must go. A troop of Chompies and Drow are terrorizing a small shopping plaza. You will find it. You will meet your fellow Portal Masters there and fight Kaos' troop." Eon said.
"But we don't have our powers." I said.
"You will soon. Now, go!" Eon said.
I turned left and started running, I don't know why in that direction, I just felt like that's where I needed to be. I made another left down one street, and a right on the next. In about five minutes I was watching about fifty green monsters with stubby arms and legs and huge teeth. They stood at about a foot tall, maybe two foot if you counted their eyestalks. Aiding them were fifty green elfish things. They were about five feet tall and had six foot tall spears. They were attacking people and tormenting them, destroying shops and causing all out chaos. About five police officers shot at them, but the bullets didn't seem to harm the monsters. About three of the little green monsters dug their teeth into each officer.
Xavier ran up to me with heavy breath. Kylie and Randal followed him.
"How are we going to stop this?" I said.
"We have to turn on our Portals before they notice us." Xavier said.
"Ok, let's do it." Randal said. "I think I can do it this time."
"You better." Kylie said. "There are lives on the line."
Xavier held the orb with one hand. "Air!"
"Tech!"
"Earth!"
"Water!" Randal said. The orb began to glow and hum.
"We're doing it!" I said. "Life!"
"Undead!"
"Fire!"
"Magic!" Xavier said. The orb did nothing but continue to hum and glow.
"What?" Kylie said.
"I don't get it...I gave it my all." Randal said.
"I'm sure you did." I said.
"I'm not lying, I want to help!" Randal said.
One of the taller monsters threw one of their spears at us. The spear landed only an inch away from my foot.
"What are those things?!" Kylie said.
"The taller ones are Drow Lancemansters and the smaller ones are Chompies." Xavier said.
"What about that?" I asked. A six foot tall Drow jumped over a one of the shops. This Drow didn't have a spear and didn't wear a shirt. He was insanely well built and he had huge canines.
"That's a Goliath Drow, he must be this troop's general." Xavier said.
"Attack!" he yelled, pointing at us.
About ten Chompies charged at us. One of them jumped at Xavier with an open jaw and Xavier smacked it with the orb. The Chompy fell to the ground and got right back up. All ten of the Chompies circled us and growled.
"What do we do?" Randal asked.
"We could fight back, if only you weren't holding us back!" I said.
"These guy's are tiny! Just kick 'em!" Kylie said. Kylie kicked two Chompies away and the rest began to attack. One jumped up and nearly planted it's teeth in my chest, but I grabbed it by the eyestalks and threw it aside. I heard a growl to my left and saw a Chompy in midair, flying towards my face. Before it could bite, it was smacked into the ground. I looked to my right and saw Randal holding the Drow spear thrown at us a minute ago. Before the Chompy could get up, Randal jabbed the Chompy with the spearhead, and the Chompy turned into these floating yellow orbs the size of marbles. Kylie managed to get the Chompies to back away from us, but she couldn't kill them.
"Ky!" Randal said. He tossed Kylie the Drow spear and Kylie slashed at the Chompies. They all slowly backed off, but then charged at once. She made one swift movement with the spear and all of the Chompies turned into the marble sized orbs.
Apparently, the Goliath Drow had been watching us the entire time. "What is this? The humans defeated my Chompies!"
"General, I believe these humans are the Portal Masters!" one Drow said.
"You think so? Lord Kaos will reward us greatly if we defeat them! Drow, Chompies, ATTACK!" the Goliath Drow said.
"This is it guys." Xavier said. "There's no way we can fight all of them without powers."
"Randy! Stop being so selfish and actually try to save us!" I yelled.
"We've already put in our powers. If you can just add yours, we can activate our Portals." Xavier said. The troop got nearer.
Randal put his hand on the orb. He closed his eyes and mumbled to himself. The Drow and Chompies got closer, about a hundred feet away from us.
"Fire..." Randal whispered. Ninety feet.
"C'mon, they're getting closer!" Kylie said.
"...Fire..." seventy-five feet.
"You can do this." Xavier said.
"...Fire..." fifty feet.
"Goddamit, stop being such a selfish, careless, good for nothing..." I said.
"FIRE!" Randal yelled.
The orb exploded, though it didn't push us away. A shockwave did send the troop back thirty feet or so, though. I looked at my bracelet. It now covered my entire forearm. A black stone crown was placed where my wrist was. The crown had a white swirl in the center and had eight peaks. One peak had the Tech symbol, the next the Life, and the pattern continued. The white swirl began to turn orange and then green. Everyone else's looked the same, only with different colors and symbols.
"Charge!" the Goliath Drow yelled. The Chompies and Drow charged again.
"Not this time." Xavier said. "Spyro!" the Magic symbol floated a foot from his face. A toy purple dragon about three inches tall took place of the symbol. The toy stood half of a brown sphere with stars and moons on it. Xavier snatched the toy from the air.
"What's that?" Kylie asked.
"Spyro, he's a magic Skylander." Xavier said.
"No, that's a toy." I said.
"This is his Figure Form. They'll look like this when we summon them, but when we put them on our Portals, we'll become the Skylander we summoned." Xavier said.
"Lemme try that. Stealth Elf!" I yelled. The Life symbol floated in front of me and a toy version of Stealth Elf floated in front of me. Now that I looked at her closely, I saw that she had her mouth covered and blue hair put in pigtails. Her only weapons were large fangs she turned into daggers. She stood on a pile of green leaves
"Uh...what was that one Eon called...Gill Grunt!" Randal said. The Water symbol and then the Skylander Gill Grunt floated in front of him. He took it from the air. I saw that the toy stood in a puddle of water.
"I don't know any of my Skylanders." Kylie said.
"Chop Chop. Call on Chop Chop." Xavier said.
"Chop Chop." Kylie said. The Undead symbol floated in front of her. A skeleton in blue and gold boots, helmet, armor, and gloved with spiked knuckles. He had a sword with a blue and gold hilt and blue and gold shield. He stood on a skull that was coming out of dirt.
"Put them on your Portals!" Xavier said. The Drow and Chompies were only thirty feet away.
I placed Stealth Elf on my Portal, and a beam of green light shot up. I looked around and saw that I was surrounded by green light. The light got brighter until I couldn't see anything. The light suddenly vanished and I was changed.
I had blue pigtails, my skin was pale green, I had hooves for feet, my mouth was covered by what I think was a brown bandana, I had foot long fangs in my hands, I was Stealth Elf.
"Whoa." I said. My, er, Stealth Elf's voice was raspy but obviously feminine. "This is...epic."
"I know." I looked to my left and saw Randal, who was now Gill Grunt.
"We...we..." I looked at Kylie, who was now Chop Chop.
"We're Skylanders." Xavier said. He was now Spyro, who looked much more dangerous with smoke coming out of his mouth and flying above us.
"The Skylanders!" one Drow said. The entire troop started to slowly back off.
"Do not be cowards! It is still the Portal Masters, KILL THEM!" the Goliath Drow said. The troop charged again.
A Drow threw a lance at us, but Chop Chop put up his shield, which absorbed the spear. "Sick." Chop Chop said.
"Fight back!" Spyro said. He flew over the troop, dodging spears, and shot fireballs at them, turning the Drow and Chompies into the tiny orbs.
"I'm in!" Chop Chop said. He ran into the crowd and slashed his sword. He hit one Drow in the head with his shield and stomped on a Chompy, turning them both into the orbs.
"I think this trigger..." Gill Grunt said. He pulled a trigger and a harpoon pierced a Drow in the chest. The Drow started to stumble until Chop Chop buried the harpoon deeper by slamming the Drow with his shield.
I ran into the troop behind Chop Chop. I noticed that I was at least three times as fast than I ever had been in my life. I instinctively did a flip, traveling about ten feet. I was in the center of the troop and I spun with my daggers held outwards. I stopped spinning and saw nothing but the orbs for about two feet or so. I kicked one Drow and then jabbed another and stabbed the next. I jumped on Chompies and threw them into Drow. Spyro still flew overhead, shooting fireballs at random. Gill Grunt had defeated the last of the Chompies and Chop Chop hacked the final Drow. Spyro landed and we all stood side by side. The Goliath Drow walked towards us.
"Careful, guys." Spyro said. "Goliath Drow are like tanks."
"I think we can take him down." Chop Chop said, slashing his sword.
"I know we can, but we'll have to try harder than we did with the Drow and Chompies." Spyro said.
"Then lets attack first." Gill Grunt said. He fired harpoons at the Goliath Drow, which didn't seem to faze him. The Goliath Drow jumped up, traveling to the exact spot we were in, and sent us in random directions. I landed inside of an ice cream shop and felt dizzy. I shook my head and felt better. I ran at the Goliath Drow and jumped onto its back and started stabbing. He tried to reach me, but his arm wasn't long enough. He jumped backwards and his body slammed me into the concrete. He got up and hovered a foot over me, but before he could stomp on me, Chop Chop jumped up and bashed him in the head with his shield. The Goliath Drow fell on its back and Chop Chop started to stab its neck. I jumped out of the hole the Goliath Drow made and hacked at the Goliath Drow's chest. We still didn't harm him.
"Guys!" Spyro said, flying overhead. "Follow my lead!"
The Goliath Drow threw us off of him and roared. Spyro came down headfirst from the sky, his horns on fire. The Goliath Drow was disoriented and dizzy. Chop Chop and I charged and stabbed him in the knees. He fell on his knees and a harpoon impaled his forehead, thanks to Gill Grunt.
"Damn Skylanders! I'll be back!" he yelled. A black and red beam of light encased him and he vanished a few seconds later with the light. The many, many orbs started to vibrate and circle us.
"What's going on?" Gill Grunt asked. The orbs shot at us and I felt a jot of energy enter me. I realized that the orbs were going inside us. We had absorbed all of the orbs, and golden light encased us. We grew to about ten feet tall and shrunk down a second later.
"What happened?" I asked.
"We leveled up." Spyro said. "Those orbs were Essence. When we defeat enemies, they'll turn into Essence, and after we absorb enough Essence, we'll level up."
"What happens when we level up?" Chop Chop asked.
"We become slightly stronger, faster, and more durable." Spyro said.
"So we just leveled up? We're, like, level two Skylanders now?" Chop Chop said.
"Yeah." Spyro said.
"That...was...EPIC!" Gill Grunt said. "We did it! We really did it!"
"Yeah, but that Goliath Drow retreated. We'll see him again." Spyro said.
"Well we're more powerful now." I said. "We can take him next time."
"Let's hope so." Spyro said.
"Nice work, Gill." Chop Chop said, patting Randy aka Gill Grunt on the jetpack.
"Thanks. I really didn't mean to hold us back when we first got the orb." Gill said.
"Then why didn't you just try like you did just now?" I asked.
"I...I..." Gill Grunt struggled for words.
"No time, we can ask questions later." Spyro said.
"Why? Are there more Chompies to chop?" Chop Chop said.
"No, we've got victims to deal with." Spyro said. He flew over to the previously fallen officers.
"Dang." I said. The officers had two inch deep bite marks in their arms, legs, and sides.
"How do we help?" Gill Grunt asked.
"With Whirlwind." Spyro said. He flew up into the air until we couldn't see him. He stopped flying and a purple flash went off and we saw Xavier falling and quickly.
"Whirlwind!" Xavier yelled. A few seconds later, a baby blue flash went off and a winged unicorn glided down to us.
"Xa-er-Spyro?" I said.
"Dude...you're...girly." Chop Chop said.
"Yeah, yeah, I know. But Whirlwind has the power to heal." Whirlwind said. She (I guessed it was a girl unicorn) touched her horn lightly on an officer's chest. The officer began to sparkle and his wounds closed and blood vanished.
"Nice! We've got two more officers by the dry cleaners and civilians everywhere, use that power, Whirlwind." Chop Chop said.
Kylie
It didn't take long for Xavier aka Whirlwind to heal the victims. More officers checked out the crime scene and paramedics came to treat people, although Whirlwind had already taken care of that. A CSI Agent from the looks of it came over to take a picture of us, but we all fled: Whirlwind by flight, Gill by pond, and Stealth Elf and me ran.
"Let's meet up at the diner where we found the portal for a celebration dinner." Whirlwind said.
"X? Where are you?" I said.
"About ten thousand feet above you and a mile ahead. I'm descending behind the diner now." Whirlwind said.
"I think what she or he or the skeleton meant was; how can we hear you?" Gill said.
"Our Portals double as communicators and locators." Whirlwind said.
"Epic. But...we aren't wearing our Portals." Stealth Elf said.
"No, they're inside us. We all have an Elemental symbol somewhere on our bodies: That's where the Portal is." Whirlwind said.
"Good to know. Wes and I are approaching the diner now." I said.
"Wait! De-Portal first!" Whirlwind said.
"De-Portal?" I said.
"Dude, you've gotta give us a lesson on all this Skylands talk, kay?" Gill said.
"De-Portal means being human again. You know, stop being a superpowered monster!" Whirlwind said.
"And how do we do that? It's not like we have buttons for these things." Gill said.
"Just...you know..." Whirlwind said. "Change back." Xavier's voice said.
"So it's that easy? We just want to turn back and we turn back? Man, Eon said that it'd take forever to master these powers, but we're doing this without any problems." Stealth Elf said.
"We aren't powerful enough to fight Kaos. No where near it." Xavier said.
"Yeah, yeah, way to ruin a moment, Unicorn Boy." I said. "We're close, I'm changing back now."
At that, a grey light flashed and I was all of a sudden myself. I immediately fell on the ground and tumbled several feet. Wes did the same.
"What the heck?" Wes said.
"Chop Chop and Stealth Elf are way faster than you normally are. When you changed back, you were still moving at that speed, but couldn't maintain it." Xavier said.
"You couldn't have told us that earlier?" Wes said. We dusted ourselves off and walked into the diner. Xavier sat at a table to our right.
"Hey, guys. Where's Randy?" Xavier said. At that moment, Randal walked into the diner. We all sat down together.
"How…awesome was that?" Randal said.
"So awesome!" I said.
"I'm glad you finally found it in you to help out." Wes said.
"I always wanted to help!" Randal said.
"Then why didn't you?" Wes said. Randal said nothing.
"Randy came through in the end, that's all that matters." Xavier said. "We need to discuss our next move."
"What do you mean?" Randy said.
"We have a few options: master the Skylanders we've unlocked and move on to another…or we can unlock as many Skylanders as we can at once." Xavier said.
"How many Skylanders are there?" Randy said.
"Over a hundred." Xavier said.
"That many?" Randy said.
"I think we should let our powers take their natural course." Wes said. "We unlock Skylanders as they come to us and master the powers as they come to us."
"Sounds like a good plan." I said.
"Yeah." Randy said.
"But first, you have to at least unlock your other elements. Wes needs a Tech Skylander, Ky needs a Earth Skylander, and Randal needs a Fire Skylander." Xavier said.
"Ok, then." Randy said. "How did you unlock your Air Skylander?"
"That's...hard to explain. My visions make it easier for me to use my powers. Since I already know so much about Skylands and the Skylanders, I understand how to use my powers." Xavier said.
"So, cool, you can just give us a quick lesson on Skylands and we can powerup." Randy said.
Xavier shook his head. "It doesn't work like that. My visions mostly gave me information on the Magic and Air Elements. I just know the basics on the other six."
"So we have to unlock our powers...on our own then?" Wes said.
"Sorry." Xavier said.
"I have a question." I said "There are hundreds of Skylanders, right? Well from what you're telling us, there are eight. So where do the other 92 come from?"
"There's more than one Skylander per Element. Every Skylander will use their Elemental power differently. Like Randy, Gill Grunt used his Water powers to breathe underwater and fused it in his harpoon cannon. Well other Skhylanders will use their power to summon ice and other marine animals and monsters and even lightning." Xavier said.
"So there are Skylanders for me that can like...raise the dead?" I said.
"Yeah. Some of them are already dead." Xavier said.
"So I can become ghosts?" I said.
"Well, two ghosts. Ghost Roast and Grim Creeper." Xavier said.
"So, lemme get this straight," Randy said. "You already have all your Skylanders unlocked?"
"No. Just Spyro and Whirlwind." Xavier said.
"I think that if we're going to master our Skylanders, we should know what we can do." Wes said.
"Right. You already know from our fight that Stealth Elf is a master with her daggers and is superfast. But as you continue to use her, you will be able to make your daggers more powerful. You can become invisible, summon likelike dummies to distract your enemies, and use something called 'Elf Jitsu'." Xavier said.
"What does 'Elf Jitsu' do?" Wes said.
"I do't know. My visions never showed me." Xavier said.
"Tell me something about Gill." Randy said.
"Ok, you've already seen the harpoon cannon. You'll later be able to use a water cannon and jetpack. Your harpoons will become more powerful and later use something called the Anchor Cannon. When you use the Anchor Cannon, you'll summon a harpoon a hundred times stronger than a regular harpoon." Xavier said.
"I can't wait to use that jetpack." Randy said.
"And as for Chop Chop...you know he's good with a sword and his sheild can absorb any attack that won't seriously injure or kill him. But what you don't know is his sword and sheild are indestructible. He can channel his Undead power into his sword and use the Vampiric Blade mode, which slightly heals him after he defeats an enemy. He can also channel his power to summon cursed spike bones to erupt from the ground, and grown bony spikes on his shield to attack with. His sword will become more powerful until it reaches Demon Blade mode."
"And that is...?" I said.
"When Undead flames surround his sword and make all attacks ten times stronger."
"What about our other Skylanders?" Wes said.
"I...I only know about those four, if you add Spyro. That's just how my visions worked." Xavier said.
"Back up," Randy said. "You said something about killing. What happens when a Skylander dies?"
"Normally, when a Skylander is about to die, they'll just go back to Figure Form and we won't be able to use that Skylander for half an hour. But, if we resist, we can remain that Skylander. But if that Skylander's defeated...that's it. We don't have that Skylander. Ever." Xavier said.
"So we can't do that." I said. "Let's decide one thing: Never sacrafice a Skylander."
"Definitely. All Skylanders are valuable. If we lose even one...we could lose the fight against Kaos." Xavier said.
"Got it." Wes said.
"Understood." Randy said.
A waitress came up to us and took our orders. Our food came back and we ate in silence. After such an easy victory, I expected us all to celebrate. But with all of our new rules and responsibilites, we were all pretty depressed.
"Gill Grunt." Randy said. A little Water symbol followed by a toy statue of Gill Grunt appeared in his hand.
"Randy!" Xavier said. "Put that away!"
"Why? I just wanted to take a closer look at him." Randy said.
"We need to keep our powers a secret! Kaos can send in spies to find out who we are and where we live, and attack us when we don't expect it. It'll be harder for him to do that if we keep our powers hidden." Xavier said.
"Sorry." Randy said. A Water symbol took place of Gill Grunt and vanished.
"If we don't use our powers unless we're fighting, how do we get stronger? That Goliath Drow will come back. How're we gonna beat him?" Wes said.
"We train." Xavier said.
Xavier
We paid for our food and left in a hurry. We went to my house, where I knew it would be safe. My adopted parents would be gone for another two hours, as they were everyday. We all went in my backyard.
"Why did you bring us here? I didn't even get to finish my burger." Randy said.
"The Skylanders aren't our only tools." I said. "Our Elemental powers will allow us to fight even without the Skylanders."
"Sweet. How do we use them?" Kylie said.
"With each Skylander we unlock, our powers allow us to channel small ammounts of their power even without fusing with them." I said.
"So I can, like, shoot water from my hands?" Randy said.
"No. If I remember correctly, you can only summon one of Gill Grunt's harpoons to use as a weapon." Randy frowned. "Wes can become invisible and slightly faster and agiler. And Ky can summon Chop Chop's spiked gauntlets."
"So what do you do?" Wes said.
"As Spyro, I can grow his wings." I said.
"What? No fair, I only get a friggin' harpoon." Randy said.
"And as Whirlwind...I...shoot rainbows." I said. Wes broke into a smile and Randy and Kylie chuckled. "Haha, I know. But trust me, Whirlwinds power is not to be underestimated."
"Yeah, I'm sorry, I'll never doubt your rainbow power again." Randy said.
"Ok, I get it! Let's just train." I said.
Kylie stopped laughing. "Ok, ok." she raised her hand to the sky. "Chop Ch..."
"Stop!" I said.
"What?" she said.
"We need to use our powers. Not the Skylanders' powers." I said.
"So what, do I just say 'Summon Spikey Gloves!' and they'll magically appear on my hands?" Kylie said.
"They're called Death Gauntlets, and you just have to say that." I said.
"...Death Gauntlets." Kylie said. The Undead symbol flashed on her a hands and Chop Chop's blue spiked gloves appeared on her hands. "Shit! These are sweet!"
"Let's try 'em out." I picked up a large rock about the size of a laptop. I threw the rock at Kylie. She struck it, and it shattered like glass.
"Whoa! I wanna try!" Randy said.
"Only Kylie can use those. They have Undead power, you only have Fire and Water." I said.
"Looks like you're stuck with a crappy harpoon!" Kylie taunted.
"X," Randy said. "What're the harpoon's called?"
"Aqua Spears." I said.
"Aqua Spear!" Randy said. The Water symbol flashed in front of him and one of Gill Grunt's harpoons levitated into his hand. "Let's have a little duel."
"Gauntlets on harpoons? I don't think that's fair." Kylie said. Randy twirled the harpoon as if it were a baton, expertly might I add. I stopped showing off, only to rest the tip of the harpoon an inch from Kylie's nose.
"I beg to differ." Randy said.
"Ok then, let's go." Kylie said.
"Gladly." Randy said.
Our braclets vibrated. We all looked at them and saw our elemental symbols flash.
"Looks like your fight'll have to wait. We're being summoned." I said.
