The next weekend, Olivia and Elliot were in separate rooms preparing to walk down the aisle. Olivia was dressed in an ivory wedding gown. As she was already pregnant, she decided that wearing white for purity wasn't the best idea. They were in a small church with a priest waiting to marry them. Their family was in the other room, excited that the couple was finally tying the knot after dancing around their feelings for years.
She looked at herself in the mirror again. The dress hugged her just right around her bump. She sighed as she still though it wasn't enough. When a knock sounded at the door, she looked up to see Alex and Casey come in.
"Liv, you look beautiful!" Alex exclaimed. She smiled.
"You're definitely glowing," said Casey.
"Thank you."
Alex pulled out a box and opened it.
"Your dress is new, so this is something borrowed and something old," she said as she pulled out a beautiful pearl necklace and put it on Olivia. Olivia smiled with tears in her eyes.
"You didn't have to do that."
"Sure I did," said Alex with a smile.
Casey stepped over and pulled out a blue butterfly clip.
"This is your something blue. It was my mother's and I want you to wear it," Casey said grinning.
Olivia's tear started to fall.
"You're going to ruin your make-up," Alex cried.
Olivia took an offered Kleenex and dabbed her eyes.
"I never expected my wedding day to be like this. I always dreamed that I'd have my parents here, smiling at me. My dad saying he can't believe his little girl has grown up and now is getting married to the man of her dreams. I didn't expect the family I have and I wouldn't change it for anything."
"We're happy to be here for you," Casey said.
"I can't thank you enough for…"
"Liv, like you said, we're family, we're happy to do this," Alex said.
Olivia hugged the blonde and the redhead tightly. She looked over to see Cragen at the door.
"It's time."
Olivia released her friends and they left the room calling out that they'd see her out there. Cragen walked into the room and took Olivia's hands into his.
"I can't believe my little girl is grown up and getting married to the man of her dreams," he said.
She looked up at him with wide eyes.
"Cap?"
"I heard everything you said. I'd be honored and am honored to call you my own. You've been my little girl for so long and I didn't realize it," Cragen told her.
"You have no idea what that means to me, Dad."
"I know what it means to me. I wouldn't change it for the world. Now, are you ready to marry that stubborn man waiting at the altar for you?"
Olivia smiled at him.
"I still can't believe this is happening, but I'm ready."
Cragen offered his elbow and she took it. He handed her the bouquet of lilies and they left the room.
They stood at the back of the aisle as Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment like This" began to play. Olivia's eyes locked with Elliot's. He stood so proud and he looked at her with amazing love filling his eyes. Cragen took her hand and put it into Elliot's. He smiled at the man before him. Elliot returned the smiled and Cragen took his seat. The couple turned to the priest.
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here to witness the joining of Olivia Serena Benson and Elliot Nathan Stabler. Is there anyone with just cause that these two shouldn't marry, speak now or forever hold your peace?"
A silence so deafening filled the church as the priest continued.
"Olivia, do you take Elliot to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, for richer and for poorer, and in sickness and in health as long as you both shall live?"
"I do."
"Elliot, do you take Olivia to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, for richer and for poorer, and in sickness and in health as long as you both shall live?"
"I do."
"May we have the rings please?"
Dickie handed the rings to his dad. They each took a ring.
"Place the ring on the third finger of the left hand and repeat after me: With this ring, I thee wed."
"With this ring, I thee wed," they said in unison as they slipped the rings on their respective fingers.
"The ring has no beginning and no end and symbolizes of being joined for eternity. Let the love brought together today no man break apart. By the power vested in my by the state of New York, I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss your bride."
Elliot pulled her in for a long, slow kiss, both with smiles on their faces. They turned and faced the crowd.
"May I introduce you to Mr. and Mrs. Elliot Stabler!"
The church broke out into applause as Elliot and Olivia walked up the aisle together. Everyone gathered outside and tossed birdseed over them as they headed to their Crown Vic, which was another symbol of their partnership. It was decorated with 'Just Married' and had empty shell casings tied to the back. They got into the car and headed to the precinct for pictures and for the reception.
When they arrived to the precinct, a banner waved outside proclaiming congratulations on their nuptials. They smiled and took the elevator to their squad room. They hadn't expected much, but when the doors opened and they walked in, they were floored to see the bullpen decorated to the nines for their reception. A space had been cleared where their desks were to allow for dancing and a beautiful three tier cake sat on a far table. The guests, their family, were already there and dipping into the finger foods and the grape juice. They had all decided to forgo alcoholic beverages due to Olivia being pregnant. Fin pulled a chair over for Olivia to sit down.
"Thanks."
She sat down and groaned as her feet throbbed. She kicked off her shoes. No one minded at all.
"No problem, Baby Girl," Fin said as he placed a small kiss on her forehead.
Food began to flow as well as juice. Toasts were made and music was played. The party was in full swing when the Chief of Detectives walked into the squad room and everything stopped immediately.
"So this is what happens when my detectives decide to tie the knot?" he said.
"Sir, I…" Cragen started, but the Chief held up his hand.
"No, Cragen, I don't want to hear it," the Chief turned and faced Olivia and Elliot who had joined their hands tightly, afraid of what the man had to say, "I stopped by to tell you congratulations and to make sure to keep it quiet. As long as you can do your jobs without judgment issues due to your marriage, you can stay partners granted it may be some time before Detective Benson returns to full duty."
"It's Detective Stabler now," Olivia said.
"So long as you are partners with your husband, you will be addressed by your maiden name to maintain legality and the rest of us will be none the wiser," the Chief said, "My wedding gift to you. Enjoy yourselves and congratulations again."
"Thank you, sir," they said in unison. The Chief smiled and looked back at everyone else.
"Well, don't let me ruin the fun! Party on, but remember that there is no rest for a police officer and we still have many cases to work on," the Chief said as he turned and left.
The group let out a collective sigh of relief. Cragen walked over to Olivia and Elliot.
"I guess I don't have to split you up, but I will if the need arises."
"We know. Thanks, Dad," Olivia said.
Cragen kissed her forehead and went back to talking with Alex. Elliot signaled to Fin who cued the music and Rascal Flatts' "Bless the Broken Road" came through the speakers.
"Hey everyone, it's time for the couples' first dance," Fin called out.
Olivia looked at Elliot who took her hands and helped her up. He put an arm at her waist and held her hand in his other. She wrapped her arm around his broad shoulder as they began to sway to the music. Everyone looked on at the happy couple. Pictures were taken to be put in a wedding album later. As the song finished, Elliot looked at Cragen who took Olivia into his arms and "I Loved Her First" began to play for the father-daughter dance. Olivia couldn't stop the tears that fell. By the time the song was over, she was exhausted. She sat back down in the chair and Munch moved another chair over for her to put her feet up in. They cut the cake and fed it to one another. Everyone noticed that Olivia was really drained and they decided to wrap everything up.
Fin and Elliot got her to the car as she fell asleep before they shut the door. Fin turned to Elliot.
"You gonna be alright to get her into the building?" he asked in big brother mode.
"Yeah, I got this," Elliot said, "Thanks."
"No problem. See you later, Stabler. Take care of our girl."
"Always."
Elliot got in and drove them home. He pulled into the parking spot and got Olivia awake enough to get out of the car, but from there he lifted her into his arms and carried her into the elevator. He set her down and when they reached her floor, he lifter her again. Juggling Olivia and trying to get the key in the door, Olivia became a little more awake. He got the door open when she realized that he was carrying her. He crossed the threshold and kicked the door shut behind him. He carried her a little further.
"You can put me down now."
"Nope, you're exhausted and so am I. We're going to bed."
She smiled.
"To sleep, Mrs. Stabler."
"There'll be time for that later."
As soon as he laid her down, she was asleep again. He didn't bother changing and climbed in next to her and fell asleep, happy.
AN: I can't believe that it didn't take me a month to write another chapter! Yeah, it's a little longer too due to their nuptials! I hope you guys liked it!
