After a few days in the hospital, they were ready to take the twins home. They had Sophia and Maya in matching outfits that had be bought by Alex and the girls were in their carriers ready to go. Elliot waited in the room while Olivia finished getting ready to go home. She was so excited to get out of the hospital and for her and Elliot to enjoy having their daughters at home, finally.
"Liv, you look fine. Let's get out of here."
"I'm coming. Almost done."
Elliot sighed. His wife seemed to take forever getting ready. He was anxious to get out of the hospital. Ever since his scare with cancer, he hated going to one, even when they had a case.
"Alright, I'm ready."
"Finally."
"Hush."
Elliot chuckled. A nurse came in with a wheelchair. Olivia protested vehemently, but the nurse told her that it was protocol and that if she wanted to leave she would have to suck it up and ride in the wheelchair. Olivia sighed and sat down in the chair.
Once downstairs, Elliot helped Olivia into the car between the twins' carseats. He then put the twins in the car. Once he loaded Olivia's gifts and bags into the back, he got in and drove them home.
They carried the girls in and put them into their bassinet together. Neither one stirred as they were jostled. Elliot and Olivia went into the living room and laid on the couch.
"I hope that everything goes that smoothly."
"Yeah, don't count on it."
"I know. Twice everything, but what are we gonna do, El? We were only prepared for one and now we have two."
"We'll work through it, Liv. They won't go without."
"I can't help but worry about them and what we're going to do."
"Honey, we will take it one day at a time. We'll get through it."
"Promise?"
"I promise."
A knock sounded at the door and Elliot got up to see who it was. He opened the door to find the guys, Alex, Casey, Erica, and Cragen standing there with arms full of food and bags of gifts.
"Liv, come see who it is."
Olivia got up off the couch slowly and walked to the door to find her family standing there. Her eyes widened and she smiled.
"Hi, what's all this?" she asked.
"Well, we know that you worry…," Casey started.
"A lot…," Munch cut in.
"So, we got some stuff for Maya…," Alex said.
"And we brought some food because it's going to take a lot out of you with two newborns instead of one," Cragen finished.
"Just so you know, we got your back," Fin said.
"You didn't have to do this," Olivia said.
"Yeah, we did," Munch said.
"You're family and so are those little girls," Cragen said.
"Speaking of which, where are our nieces?" Casey asked.
"Yeah, I can't wait to meet them! I do want to hold one of them so I can have the practice for when Nathan comes," Erica said.
"They're asleep, for now," Elliot said.
"Well, let's not let them stand outside the door," Olivia said and she moved to allow their family in.
"We've got several meals already prepared so that all you have to do is heat them," Alex said, "And we have diapers, clothes, toys, wipes, bottles, and several cans of formula, just in case."
"Thank you so much," Olivia said as tears began to fall down her cheeks.
"Aw, Liv, don't cry," Casey said.
"I'm sorry. My hormones are still a little crazy," Olivia said.
"Baby girl, your hormones were never normal," Fin said.
Alex smacked Fin's arm and they all chuckled.
"You guys are in trouble then because mine are all over the place too," Erica said laughing.
"Well, let's eat," Elliot said.
They sat down and enjoyed some time with their family. It wasn't too much longer when they heard some fussing coming over the baby monitor.
"I'll be back," Olivia said.
"I'll help," Alex said.
"No, it's okay. Thank you, though," Olivia said.
She walked into the nursery to see that it was Sophia who started fussing and Maya was just watching everything. She lifted Sophia out of the crib and took her to the changing table. As she changed her, she memorized everything about her daughter. She dressed her and then sat down in the rocking chair to feed her. Sophia latched on and began to suckle. Olivia traced the baby's features as she ate. Elliot came in just as Sophia finished. Olivia went to lift her to her shoulder, but Elliot stuck his hands out. She handed Sophia to him and picked up Maya. She changed Maya and dressed her and then fed her as well, memorizing her too, brown eyes studying each other. She noticed that Maya had her skin tone and Sophia had Elliot's. They both had soft brown hair on their heads. Olivia smiled down at Maya as she finished. She straightened herself and then put Maya over her shoulder to burp her. Once both girls were fed, burped, and satisfied, they headed into the other room to show the girls their family.
Olivia had gone to take care of the girls while Elliot stayed with them.
"So, how is she doing?" Alex asked.
"She's okay. She has pain every now and then, but that's normal. She was mostly worried about how we're going to handle two babies when we prepared for one."
"I can't imagine what she's going through," Erica said, "Well, part of it, I can, but not the other part."
"Yeah, you better hope there's only one in there for you," Fin said.
"They're sure that Nathan is the only one insider," Erica said, "I hope they're not wrong."
"I'm gonna go check on her. I'll be right back," Elliot said as he got up and went into the nursery.
After about twenty minutes, they came out carrying the twins. Everyone turned to look at them, full of awe.
"I know that all of you haven't officially met Maya, so this way you get to see both our girls together. Guys, meet Sophia Grace and Maya Nicole."
"They're beautiful, Liv," Erica said, "Can I hold one of them?"
"Oh, absolutely!"
Olivia walked over and handed Maya to Erica. Maya fussed a bit, but as soon as she was nestled next to Erica's chest, she calmed down and looked at Erica with her brown eyes wide and alert.
"Wow, she has your eyes," Erica said, "She's gorgeous."
Alex and Casey looked over Erica's shoulders to see Maya. Elliot passed Sophia to Cragen who smiled at the little one who cooed at him.
Olivia stood back and looked at her family welcome her little ones into their lives, hearts, and loving arms. She took out her phone and snapped several photos so that the twins would be able to see these moments down the road. Just then Maya got fussy and then Sophia, upon hearing her sister, started fussing as well. Olivia knew that it was nap time. She took Sophia while Erica followed her with Maya to the nursery. They got the girls settled an in their bassinet.
"Erica, Elliot and I wanted to know if you would like to be Maya's godmother."
Erica looked at her, wide-eyed.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, we both think of you as family and would be honored if you'd be her godmother."
"The honor is mine. Thank you."
Olivia hugged Erica to her. They then left the room to rejoin the others who were keeping quiet so that the youngest members would sleep in peace.
