I know I've got way too many stories running simultaneously so what better way to go back than to drop references? In this chapter, there's one reference to a fanfic and one to a story.
Ladrafiefr (or Kaito, as he wanted to be known) and Shinichi ended up landing on a strange planet. It looked like the world Shinichi knew, but its inhabitants were very different…all the people were, similarly to the alien, covered in a silver sheen and had dull eyes. Each of Ladrafiefr's kind also varied in the number or type of weapon created by the tentacles.
"Welcome, Shinichi Kudo. You're one of us now," Kaito explained, a dreamy smile on his face and using the matching voice.
As one of Kaito's tentacles undid his bindings, Shinichi was trying his best to stay calm. Unfortunately, his logic had gone completely from trying to tolerate his transformation.
"That girl – Ai Haibara – she never told you where she got the metal from, yes?" Kaito cocked his lustrous head to one side for effect, and then continued. "I put that metal – found all over Sezaria," Sezaria was the planet they'd arrived on, Ladrafiefr had explained to him, "on Earth, deep underground a long time ago." One tentacle rose from its position at the alien's side and turned into a drill bit the length of Shinichi's arm. "Erosion did its job, then I did mine – retrieving the person who became affected by the parasitic metal. That Haibara girl didn't know that her lab tests were all planned out and performed by me – she thinks she thought them up."
But Shinichi hadn't heard a word since 'parasitic', and he protested by shouting out this word while visibly sweating.
Kaito shook his head, a resulting glare hurting Shinichi's eyes. After the alien mouthed the word 'symbiotic', the detective calmed down.
"All the people on Sezaria came from humans, except me. I am the original one, the discoverer of the new species - automata." With that, Kaito grabbed his head and erased his memory.
- Back in time to just after the abduction call -
Ran refused to wait anymore. She had waited about a year for him to come back, after all.
"Ai-chan!" she yelled, barging into the scientist's room. "Get me a shuttle to wherever that silver guy's going!" Her voice's tone said, 'I absolutely will not rest until I get him back, no matter what that weird alien's doing,' so Haibara had no choice but to agree.
Luckily, the process of making said shuttle was eliminated by the jetpack Agasa had. [Remember that jetpack from episode 1?] After making a few adjustments to it, Ran took off. A black speck caught her eye after a little while: it was Ladrafiefr's shuttle, up ahead! She forced the jetpack to go even faster but it couldn't catch up.
Just then, the pack ran out of fuel, and she was falling, falling…
However a saviour in white and purple came racing towards her, desperately hoping they had enough strength to carry her.
I did say I knew the ending, but now I have a completely new ending in store.
