Morgana watched from one of the many windows in the citadel. She smirked to herself soon she would have to play her role. But there was something strange going on, in the days leading up to Arthur's return Morgana had been having nightmares.

3 Days Previously…
"Sister… What is the matter?" Questioned Morgause worriedly.
Morgana replied her face grim, "The nightmares have returned, I wear the bracelet every night. But it's not having any effect."
Morgause nodded, "Tell me about this nightmare of yours."
Morgana took a deep breath and began.
"It was Arthur and the knights returning, something was deeply wrong. There was something wrong with Arthur's manservant, Merlin. He wasn't himself; there was something about him, an unwelcome presence.
They went to Uther and something… Happened. It went black. When I could see again, Merlin was gone. It becomes hazy then, but another image I got was Merlin dressed in a long black cloak, he was standing over me with a dagger." Morgana shook her head in distress.
Morgause took it all in and seemed puzzled.
"It doesn't make any sense. The manservant is loyal to Camelot…"
"And ridiculously loyal and dedicated to Arthur." Added Morgana.
Morgause sighed and took her sister's hand.
"Unfortunately, some prophecies we cannot decipher until it's too late. But there is a connection between your prophecy and now, one of our spies reported back that the manservant was behaving oddly. It didn't really bother me until now…"
Morgana nodded in understanding.
Morgause then added, "They should be returning any day now, if you have any problems with the boy let me know and I'll dispose of him. He's interfered too many times…"
Morgana smiled and nodded. The two sisters then departed.

Morgana closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She then headed to the Throne Room. She took her place beside the man she loathed. Arthur then entered his small band behind him.
"Arthur. My leg is killing me! Please can Gaius at least give me something for the pain?" protested Merlin.
Arthur turned to face him, he was still angry at him for what he had said earlier. Arthur shook his head, Merlin could suffer for now; and then he might watch his mouth in future.
"Your going to be a dreadful King, Lord save our souls from the unworthy." Sneered Merlin.
Gaius had been watching Merlin for a while now and overhearing that comment he spoke up.
"My Lord, I would like to examine my ward for any side affects of carrying this magical vessel."
Uther rolled his eyes in frustration; it was clear, that he wasn't going to find out anything till this fool has been sorted out. But he had to know one thing first.
"You have the magical item in your possession? He questioned his son.
Arthur nodded "Yes my Lord."
Uther sighed, and gave his next orders.
"Gaius, take this… Pendant and study it see what it's capable of."
Gaius bowed in deep respect and replied,
"Of course my Lord."
Uther flicked his hand in a signal of dismissal. The court began to leave.
Caddoc sighed in relief that was close, irritating the Prince was so much fun, the more he hated Merlin the easier it would be to take over Camelot.
You'll never get away with this. Even if I have to die, you will not harm Arthur or Uther.
Hmmm he's back again, I thought I had drained him. So he replied telepathically
"I already have…"
Merlin was laid down on the patient bed. Gaius ignored the pendant, if he tried to take it then Merlin would react and he would never be able to help him. Arthur had followed them. Gaius poured a strong sleeping draft into a cup of water, not even the spirit that resides within him could withstand it. Caddoc feeling over confident took the water with out a single care or suspicion. He fell asleep almost instantly.
And you called me an idiot. Sneered Merlin, and then began trying to take over again.
Arthur approached the bed and stared at Merlin,
"What's wrong with him?" he questioned.
Gaius turned to face him, his face grave,
"I believe that he's being possessed Sire."
"Possessed? By who?"
"That's what I intend to find out."
Gaius held Merlin's nose and tipped a black substance into his mouth. After a few minutes, Merlin's face began to drain of its natural colour, turning light grey. Jet black rings appeared around his eyes. He looked…Dead.
Again Gaius began examining him, Arthur just stared.
"Possession by a spirit that died a good thousand years ago." Murmured Gaius. He then walked over to the many hundreds of books he possessed. After a while Arthur spoke up again, "He's not going to wake up is he?"
Gaius turned briefly,
"Not for a good couple of hours." He replied.
"He looks dead." Stated Arthur.
"That's because of the potion I admistered, it gives me a rough idea of how long this spirit has been around." He explained.
After about an hour of searching Gaius finally pulled out a book and took it back to his study table. Arthur walked over and looked over his shoulder.
"Aha. Here. Oh dear."
"What? Gaius what's wrong." Questioned Arthur.
Gaius turned to face Arthur.
"Merlin is being possessed by a spirit named Caddoc. Back in his day, he would cause great pain and chaos. He brought misery wherever he went, he ruled over Camelot for about two hundred years.
"And I will rule again." Came Merlin's voice from behind them.
"Sowae aneit avedi!" Shouted Merlin. Gaius and Arthur fell to the ground.
