Main Characters: Alan+OC, John, TinTin
Summary: Alan has a younger twin sister who isn't exactly like him. Actually, more like, opposite him. She is smart and listens to her father, but she only hates one person, Alan. He treats her like a kid when they are both the age of fourteen. Will this change when The Hood arrives?
Author's Note: This is my first Thunderbird FanFiction, so diehard Thunderbird fans, go easy. I also have only watched the 2004 Movie and have watched the magnificent works of Criminally Charmed and Little Miss Bump, also TBMom. So, if character's actions are wrong, I apologize in advance.
The writing style may change. So any first person will be in my OC's 1st Person, while other tidbits will be in 3rd person. There will be a break and then in Italics 3rd Person, but it will be centered around a character. So it will say, 3rd Person Name, only my OC will be in 1st Person. Disclaimer: I do not own the Thunderbirds, I only own my OC, Kathryn Dwyer Tracy. - There are also specific lines from the movie, so I don't own those either.
- Chapter 9 - - Time Skip - The Afternoon After -
(1st Person)
The first thing that came to my senses was pain. My entire body felt like it had been run over by a Mac truck. I slowly opened my eyes and immediately regretted it. The bright lights of the infirmary glared into my pain-filed eyes. I tried to move my hand to rub them, but was immediately stopped by someone's hand. I tried to open my eyes again and this time, it didn't hurt as much as before. I looked to the hand that held mine and met the deep brown eyes of my father, "Hey there sweetie."
"Dad?" My voice was horrible and as I tried to speak, I only coughed. The coughing hurt like crazy.
A new voice came closer to me, it was feminine, "Kathryn, try to use the oxygen mask to help you breathe. Just talk calm breaths and the coughing will pass. Once it passes, we can give you some ice chips to sooth the dryness of your throat."
I listened to this woman's calm voice and as she instructed, it worked. I looked at the woman to wonder who could possibly be allowed on the island. My baby blue's met soft dark blue eyes, almost navy. Her hair was put in a pony-tail and by the looks of it, her hair went down her backside. She looked familiar but I couldn't place where I had met her, then it hit me, "Dr. Gardner!"
Lanora laughed slightly, "I guess you do remember me. Well, I'm just going to hand you these ice chips and you are going to promise me to keep that oxygen mask on." I pouted at the doctor. "Don't pout at me Kathryn. You injured your ribs pretty badly and it's effecting your breathing too much. Which I'm sure you have noticed."
Now that I think about it, my chest it tighter then normal and my breathing is coming out heavier then usual. How much was I injured at the bank? I tried to get up off the bed and a shooting pain shot up my back. Two pairs of hands tried to still my movements along with helping me ease my body back onto the bed.
"Easy, Kathryn. Your back is severely fractured. It's lucky you didn't break it. Now, if you don't keep still for a while, it'll become worse," Dr. Gardner spoke to me as it was one of the pairs of hands holding me down was hers. "If you want to move, just let one of us know. We will help you. I know you don't like having to have people help you, but for awhile, that's how it's going to have to be."
Dr. Gardner then left to go check on something else. I looked at my father and he just nodded. Depleted, I slumped against the bed. My father laughed and then removed his hands from holding me down. He then took one of my hands and held it in his.
I could hear other beeping coming from the room and noticed, not one, but three machines were turned on. I looked beside me and noticed my twin was on a bed beside me with an oxygen mask covering his face. Further on, my brother John was also lying on a bed, asleep by the look of it. My heart thumped louder in my chest. My breath quickened.
Alan and John were also hurt!
(3rd Person)
Only seconds after leaving the youngest Tracy's side, Dr. Gardner had to return. Lanora had a feeling that this was going to happen when the young Tracy would figure out the situations of her brothers. Kathryn was trying to get off her bed once again, but this time in panic state. Jeff was trying to calm the fourteen-year-old and failing. Kathryn was unmanageable in her panic attacks. This tiny girl would call upon unknown strength. Virgil has told Lanora of the times when it took both Jeff and Scott to hold down Kathryn when she was sick, in a panic attack, and when she needed her medicine. It left each Tracy out of breath and depleted of all strength, especially Kathryn. Virgil even spoke of one time when he had to sedate her because nothing would calm her down, her panic attacks then tend to spark attacks. Dr. Gardner hoped it wouldn't come to that.
John had woken up from the struggles of Jeff and Kathryn. He sat up in his bed and before he could put a foot down, Virgil, from out of nowhere, put a hand on him, "John stay, Dr. Gardner and Dad should have it under control."
"But… but what if she wants me? Remember all the times only Scott or myself could calm her down? I don't want her to injure herself anymore."
Virgil looked at the astronaut, "Neither do I, but you are also injured yourself. I'll get Scott down here and who knows he's probably already…"
Before Virgil could finish, Scott entered the infirmary with Gordon on his tail. Gordon moved toward John and Virgil, but Scott went straight to Kathryn. Moving to beside his father, he looked at Kathryn and gently taking her head in his hand, made the frantic girl look at him directly, "Kat, it's me Scott. It's alright sweetie. Alan and Johnny are fine. You are fine. Now calm down for everyone. Just calm down. "
Slowing, the panic attack that had taken over Kathryn, diminished, and the youngest Tracy's breathing returned to a slower pace. It still wasn't normal, but it was better than before. She looked at her eldest brother, "Scotty?" Her voice was semi muffled because of the oxygen mask.
"Yeah, it's me and if you look over there, you'll see that Johnny is fine and so is Alan. Virgil and Gordon are over there too. Everyone is fine," Scott answered his younger sister. "You helped save us all and who knows how many other people."
Kathryn smiled at her older brother and then winced in pain. All that thrashing had created a throb in her back and her ribs. Her breath was also coming out in quick, short, breaths. Scott looked at her worriedly.
Jeff had moved to side when Scott had come into the room. The father now moved back toward his daughter. He put his hand slightly on his daughter's shoulder. He could see Kathryn struggling for oxygen, even though her face was covered with a oxygen mask. "The panic attack must have jarred her injuries," Jeff though to himself.
Dr. Gardner returned to Kathryn's side, only this time with a needle. She knew the young Tracy would be in pain from her panic attack, so she had prepared some pain medication. The doctor also forgot how needles affect Kathryn.
Out of the corner of the young Tracy's eyes, she could see Lanora coming closer to her bed with needle in hand. Her fear made her breath quicken and she tried to get off the bed. Pain coursed throughout her back and body. Scott and Jeff tried to hold the youngest Tracy. They knew if she tried to do anything more, her back could be permanently damaged.
Scott spoke to his frantic sister, "Kathryn, it's alright. It's just pain medication. You need to relax. All of your struggling is only going to make the pain worse. Trust me, no one is going to hurt you."
Kathryn had her eyes glued on to her eldest brother's. Lanora used this opportunity and injected the pain killer into Kathryn's IV. She'd have to thank Scott later.
The doctor tapped on Scott's shoulder and without looking away from his sister, he spoke to the still slightly frantic fourteen year old, "Everything is fine, now why don't you rest. I will be here when you wake, I promise." He squeezed her hand slightly and you could see Kathryn's smile through the oxygen mask. The blonde's eyes slowly drooped and she fell into a peaceful slumber. Kathryn knew her family was there for her.
- Time Skip - couple days, John has been released from the infirmary -
(1st Person - Alan)
As I became aware of my surroundings: first, I could tell I was in the infirmary, and second, the events from earlier flooded my mind. I shot up in the bed, only to be still by strong arms and a shooting pain in my chest and ribs. "Easy Alan. You're fine. You are in the infirmary. Just relax, Sprout," Virgil calmly spoke beside my bed. His strong arms were underneath my back, helping me from falling backward on to the bed.
"It's alright son," my father spoke in a gentle tone. Turns out his arms were on top of my chest, halting any more movements. I looked at him and my father smiled. It was also in the moment, I realized I had an oxygen mask surrounding my nose and mouth and an IV was also placed in the crook of my arm.
As soon as a I shot out of the bed, it was a soon as I wanted to retreat. I sagged against Virgil's arms. Slowly, he and my father lowered my body back onto the bed. I was completely exhausted and my mouth was completely dry.
Virgil, who must has noticed this, asked quickly, "Alan, how are you feeling?"
"I...," as soon as I spoke, a coughing fit took over. My ribs protested. It made the pain even worse. Virgil grabbed a glass a water from the side table and he and my father, helped me sit up, take the mask off and take a sip of water. The coolness helped ease my throat. Virgil still had his hands on the glass as I took a couple more sips, something tells me he didn't trust my shaking hands. Well, neither did I. My brother helped replace the mask on my face and my father, who had been helping keep my body in a sitting position, now helped me sit back onto the medical bed.
Virgil returned after putting the glass down and asked again, "How are you feeling Alan and give me an honest answer. I know you don't usually show how you are feeling."
I smiled slightly at him, "I was going to say, my chest and ribs are uncomfortable. Also, why is hard to breathe?" "You have four fractured ribs on your right side and some nice bruising to go with it. You also are dehydrated and are contracting the flu from somewhere. That's why your coughing and sore throat are going to continue to happen. Along with being almost strangled to death, will also add to the coughing and sore throat. Luckily, your cuts didn't get infected, along with you breaking any ribs," Virgil paused for a moment, "You will also have to be careful for awhile. Those ribs could easily break if you fall or loose your balance. So I wouldn't be surprised if everyone is being cautious around you. At least as not as much as Kathryn."
While Virgil was speaking, I was listening, but also falling asleep slightly, until he mentioned something about Kat. I pulled the oxygen mask down and frantically spoke to my brother, "Where is she? Is Kat alright?"
I tried to get up again and was still by my father and brother again. I pushed against them, even though my ribs and chest protested. This time I was able to get into a sitting position. My breath quickened from the struggle, but still, I looked desperately for my twin sister.
"Alan, it's alright. Kathryn's fine. Please you need to stay in this bed. You are in no condition to be moving. Your ribs are sensitive right now and could potentially break. Come on Sprout, it's alright," Virgil tried to calmly speak to me. Looking around the room, "Where is Scott when you need him?"
As if on cue, Scott barged through the room and moved toward my bedside. Next to our father, "Alan, Sprout," my oldest brother grabs my face gently. Forcing me to look at him, "I know your worried about your sister, but like everyone else, she is fine. She also isn't the only one injured. You are in the same boat as her, so listen to Virgil and Dad. Just relax Sprout."
I listened my oldest brother's voice, it reminded me of the times when Kat and I were young and Scott's tone was just like how it was when we got hurt or were sick. I stopped struggling against my father and Virgil. Scott and Virgil are right, I need to relax. I looked at both my brothers and then to my father, I smiled.
They smiled back.
Scott dropped his hand, but before he did, he ruffled it around in my blond locks. My smile grew even bigger.
Virgil, who I had just realized had his arms protectively behind my back, was helping me stay in an upright position. The medic of the family spoke to me, "Well since your in this position already, let's change your bandages. It's not too tight, right?"
I shook my head, "No, not really."
"Alright, how's breathing? Is it getting difficult?"
Trying to take a deep breath, I only ended up in a coughing fit. Each cough sent painful spasms throughout my chest and especially my ribs. I also couldn't catch my breath completely. Every time I tried, my ribs protested, sending more pain throughout my body. I could see the worried looks from my brothers and father.
Virgil spoke to our older brother, "Scott, switch positions with me. He can't get a full breath."
In a blur, Scott and Virgil switched positions and Virgil came closer to me, helping me grab the oxygen mask that was hanging around my neck, "Use the oxygen Sprout. It'll make the pain easier. Now just take deep breaths slowly. It's going to hurt, but it will help stop the coughs."
I listened to the medic and slowly, but painfully, I was able to stop the coughing fit. However, I began to realize how much I was sagging in Scott's arms. He tightened his grip and changed how he supported my back. It made the weight less. The coughing fit must have taken the little strength I have. My eyes were also becoming heavy.
Virgil noticing this, "Just wait a little more Sprout. I need to change those bandages. You have some cuts that I need to check out, so just bare with it." He smiled apologetically. I faintly smiled back, my exhaustion was showing more prominently. Virgil and my father helped my get out of the T-shirt I was wearing. Every time I moved my upper body, it sent spasms of pain throughout my body. I couldn't hold my gasp. Virgil and my father smiled apologetically again. I looked down at my body and noticed how many bandages were surrounding my torso. Virgil and his medically trained hands, gently moved around my torso, taking off the bandages. I looked down again at my body and that when I notice how bad the bruising was. No wonder it hurt so much!
Suddenly a hand took my face gently and lifted it so that I was starring at the their face. Turns out it was my father, "It's easier if you don't look at it, son. Soon Virgil will be done and you get rest. Just hold on till then."
I smiled slightly.
Virgil began to clean the cuts and I hissed in pain. I wanted to look down to see what the heck was making it burn so much, but my father held my face firmly. Was it really that bad?
I felt Virgil wrapping the bandages around my torso again, he asked as he finished wrapping, "It's not too tight, right?"
"No, it's fine," I replied tiredly.
"Alright, now...," he looked at the monitor that was reading my vital signs. The medic grabbed a thermometer from one of the counters. He places it around my forehead. "Just as I thought."
I looked at him in wonder, so did my father and Scott.
My oldest brother asks, "Is there something wrong Virgil?"
"Well, hopefully it just from his struggle and increase in pain, but Alan now is running a fever," he replied. Then looked at me, "Alan, I'm going to give you a fever reducer and some pain medication. Scott, Dad, while I go get the supplies, can you help Alan get comfortable again?"
"Of course son."
My father and Scott nodded and started to help me lower myself back onto the bed. Scott's strong, sturdy arms helped lower my body gently, while my father fixed the pillows and blankets.
Even though I was dead tired, I had to tell them something. I pulled down the mask. Scott stopped me, "No Allie, you need to keep it on. I know it's frustrating." "
No," I tried again. "I need to say something."
"Alan, son, why don't you tell us later. Your tired and need to rest. Your body has been through a lot," my father told me as he ran a hand softly through my hair.
"No, let me say it now," I successfully get the mask down.
Scott looks at my father and the billionaire nods.
"What I want to say is that, before the Hood's attack, I'm sorry for how childish and stupid I was. I never mean to hurt Kathryn, or anyone. I'm just frustrated. I want to protect her, but there are times I know she can handle the situation and then my instinct tells me to do something to stop her. I argue with Kat because I don't really know how to handle telling her that I wish she didn't risk her life. And then when her attacks come, I get scared. I want to protect her, but during her attacks I feel so weak and helpless. Like I'm not good enough to be her twin. I really do care for her, but... i'm really sorry. I know that my grades aren't the best and that you think all I care is becoming a Thunderbird, but I just..," I could feel the tears starting to fall upon my face. Great, now they were going to see me cry.
Scott gently leaned over my bed and took me into a hug, "Sprout, you shouldn't have to be the only one to say your sorry. I should say i'm sorry too. And everyone else. We want you and Kathryn to both be a part of the Thunderbirds, but you to are the youngest, and if anything were to happen to the both of you. Well, I wouldn't know what to do. At the bank, when you fell unconscious in my arms, I was scared. I was truly scared I was going to loose you. I'm sorry Allie for not being there for you lately." I can see tears in his eyes.
"You're not the only one," said a voice from the door.
Hello, I am so sorry for the long break of updating. I'm back, so enjoy some more chapters. I had some difficulties with family and school, so please don't hate me!
It's funny, I wouldn't have started to create FanFiction stories without the inspiration of my older brother. I truly miss him. He died in November of last year. He was only 21. I hope I can continue writing and learning Japanese as an memory for one of the greatest older brothers the world has to offer.
Well, thank you!
